We chose to cruise on the Grandeur for the second time, not because we found it brilliant the first time, but because of the itinerary and bargain price! We booked last minute "cruise only" and arranged our own transport and transfers. We used Ryanair from Stansted to Treviso and arrived quite early on day one. We were pleased that boarding had commenced, but were a bit miffed that we were steered ...
Booked late; just needed some sun after the awful UK weather. The late evening flight with EasyJet departed and arrived on time but seating (perhaps as expected) was cramped and uncomfortable, however it got us there. We stayed at the Garibaldi Hotel in Venice (actually in Maestre on the mainland) which was no more than adequate but with exceptionally helpful and pleasant staff. It had the big ...
We were a little wary of this ship having read mixed reviews, but gambled on the recent re-fit having addressed some problems. We needn't have worried- everything, from staterooms to dining and public areas was in pristine condition. The embarkation at Venice was a nightmare- a terminal official actually told a group of us to follow her, walked a few steps then turned and asked why we were ...
we travelled with my son and his new wife for their first cruise.the embarkation queue was lengthy but moved quite fast and within 30 mins we had boarded.we were impressed with the centrum a rea and after signing up for the drinks package we had our first of many cocktails consumed over the 5 days.
i had arranged for the wedding celebration decoration package as a surprise laa we were excited to ...
We stayed for two nights in Venice before transferring to the port by taxi (18 euros). We could have got the People Mover (1 euro per person) from Piazzale Roma but having investigated the day before decided against it as there is a long walk from the People Mover to the ship. Arrived for embarkation at 11.10 am and we were on board by 11.30 am.
Had a meander around the ship before heading to ...
Our cruise started in Venice. Got the people mover from Piazzale Roma for €1 which took us to the cruise terminal. A free Royal Caribbean shuttle bus was provided to take us to check in. Our cases were taken at this stage and we were given information about the ship and what we had to do next. We were on the ship within an hour of arriving at the Port.
The food on board was delicious. My husband ...
We flew from the UK 2 days prior to sailing and stayed at the Melia Palas Atennae Hotel, on the harbour front... lovely.
On sail day, we had a leisurely breakfast, saw the ship docked on the quayside - a fair distance from us. We swam in the hotel pool, then showered and got a taxi to the Port to embark on Grandeur OTS.
As a surprise for our daughter and family, our son had booked a ...
We chose this cruise on the Grandeur due to the itinerary and the excellent RCI offer of free flights, which made it an attractive price. Having sailed on two Vision class ships before (Legend and Splendour) we pretty much knew what to expect of the ship, although the layout of the Grandeur is slightly different in some areas.
We flew Thompsons from Birmingham and had no ...
Background-We decided on a 7 day cruise in the Med as it was a short flight from home, the couple we holiday with had not cruised before and were keen to try it and we wanted to try RCCI. We saw the deal in the national press and realised it was good value so booked through a local travel agent.
Transfers and embarkation-The flight from Newcastle on Jet 2 was really good and mercifully short, 2 ...
This was the Grandeur's first trips in the Mediterranean after Panama and to be honest it showed. Many of the ship literature, notices etc. and senior staff were Spanish speakers with only the (albeit) few leisure staff newly appointed native English speakersSo on to details - first the pros. OK it's not the biggest ship on the seas but we really liked it. It was clean, lot of chrome, mirrors and ...
