This was suppose to be a fun, family & friends birthday cruise but it was anything but that ! I invited my girlfriend & her husband who both were first time cruiser.(celebrating her birthday) My husband was a first time cruiser as well, also celebrating his birthday. It was a party of 14 of us in total. So out of the 14 there was 11 first time cruiser. Myself, My Sister, & friend were the only 3 who have cruise over 5-8 times before so we know how things can be. We understand that there is nothing you can do about the weather. We had one half day were we experience rough waters & cause the ship to be rocky. Again not too much can be done. I do feel like hey could have gave us some kind of refund or credit beside one $10.20 port fee. We only had one true day in port. ! Our cruise was @ sea & I really feel like I was ripped off. We stopped in one port for only 45mins. Everything was close & it was dark. This was THE WORST EVER VACATION IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! I feel like my hard earned money was truly wasted! I also experience my first night a rude waiter in the main dinning area. Also they did not seat our entire party together one night due to others seating @ our assigned tables. They stated to us it was not a big deal, but our guest that was not able to be seated felt different. The only good thing I can say about this vacation was the staff was amazing. Stateroom staff, never had to asked for anything, I head waiter Joe was everything as well. he made sure everyone was please & the entertainment wasn't too bad but could have been more since we were struck @ sea most of the trip!!!! I don't think I will ever take a cruise with Royal again. They just didn't do us right!!!! The food was not as good in the main dinning area, The Windjammer was great through. My husband & did experience with a customer service desk member as well. Again Don't think I will do a Royal Caribbean cruise again after thinking about all we went through. Nothing in return to soften the blow. Just a big fat I took your money & what are you going to do about it?!!! That's how I have taken the experience on this cruise & ship. Read Less

The grand mother recommended the cruise with Royal Caribbean. The good food was great the staff where friendly the room attendant was great the waiter in the dinning room was great. The bad 2 broken hot tubs, Broken ice cream machine, unwashed windows, and rust abounding on the exterior of the ship. Now the Ugly I dropped my children off at the teen center on the ship for a "in room scavenger hunt" as described in the teen flyer. I come to find out it was a all over the ship scavenger hunt how easy at 10 pm. at night would it be for teen to be abducted and raped and thrown overboard? Brought the issue to guest services it was never addressed!!!!!!! More ugly RC claimed a port of call at coco cay which I hear from others frequently is cancelled so they flat out lied and offered no other port of call. Last of the ugly Shore excursions were great but very short not a good value. Read Less

This cruise was a booking as part of a larger group booking with families of 25 teenage girls that had a chance to dance on the ship through their local dance company. This is why it was chosen, with the idea in mind that Bermuda is a relatively crime free island and a place where we felt comfortable to take such a large group overall. This was my 4th cruise with Royal Caribbean and fell within our 20 year wedding anniversary. I usually do not write reviews, but this cruise with Royal Caribbean was less than stellar. First, this is the second time, of my past 2 cruises on Royal Caribbean; we were supposed to receive an onboard credit and did not receive it. Once on the ship, guest services told us, once again, there is nothing they could do, that we would have to contact our travel agent at the end of the trip. It was only for a lousy $50.00, but it is still the point that they couldn’t offer even something in exchange. Dinner service our first night was poor and slow until we complained, then it picked up the following services but it was still slow overall. We had the beverage package and it took nearly ½ hour to get a glass of wine. Service in Chop's Grille our second night was horribly long, we missed the captain's party because of it......2 &1/2 hours for dinner? The waiter was inattentive and the manager ended up clearing our plates. Again there was slow bar service at the table. The steaks and food overall in Chop's Grille were no better than in the dining room, I expected better quality for the extra $30.00pp it cost to eat there There was only 1 show time for most shows, we missed the welcome aboard show and the final evening show because dinner took so long, there were no late show seating’s offered. The shows and costumes were outdated and there were only late night comedian performances 2 out of the 5 nights, nightlife was dead. The ship has very little to do compared to many past cruises I have been on and there were not a lot of amenities, no mini golf, every ship at least has mini-golf for the kids. The rock climbing wall had limited open climb hours and for most of them, it was closed down due to wind while we were sailing. The jogging track was closed also 2 times when we wanted to use it and because the gym was so small, that was not an alternative option. My daughter and her friends went to the movie hoping they could swim while watching the movie, but they closed the pool when they got there and 2 of the 4 hot tubs were closed, the other 2 were filled with people. They also waited 1/2 hour in line at the movie for popcorn only to find out that they were selling it for $3.00, not giving it out like all other past cruises we’ve been on. Is Royal Caribbean really that hard up that they cannot give popcorn out for free with the movies like other cruise lines? The 24hr ice cream was not available after 9PM most nights, we found out later on the ship tour, that it was being rationed most of the trip because they did not have enough and that they later ran out of ice cream base because not enough was ordered. My mother in law had her walker taken and placed on the other side of the metal detector coming back in from port. After walking all day and with tired legs, she was asked to walk about 10 feet past the metal detectors to get it back. The next day, after complaining, she was offered a wooden cane to go through the metals detectors. When inquiring about a future cruise we were very interested in booking, I thought I would get a better deal booking on the ship, but the deal was actually $200-$300 more than what I pulled up online the week before for the same cruise. The future cruise associate was not engaged or very interested in making the sale, so we decided we would definitely wait for a better option. This being my 9th cruise, I've always thought Royal Caribbean was superior to other cruise lines, but not after this cruise or on this ship. I’ve since booked Carnival for my next cruise experience. This was my 2nd experience on Grandeur of the Seas. My first cruise in 2013 was WONDERFUL! Excellent customer service on every level. From stateroom attendant (loved Ida Ashley) to each porter. To say this cruise was different would be an understatement. Part 1 I travelled with 16 family members and friends. My sister is handicapped, in a wheel chair and the 1st issue surfaced before we boarded the ship. She and my 83 year old mom got a late room assignment, so did not have the proper tags for their luggage. As a result, no one from Royal Caribbean would assist them with their luggage. It was pouring rain, they were in the main building, but had to get their bags to where the drop off point was. That job fell to my mom. Did I mention she was 83? My other sister rushed to get there to assist. They then had to push my sister up the ramp to enter the ship. No handicap access was available. Again, no assistance from any Royal Caribbean employee. My mom said another little old lady did assist and finally, between the two of them they shamed someone into helping. Part 2 began with me contacting guest services (another misnomer). What I was trying to find out was if there was a way one of my Bermuda cousins could drive up the walkway to the ship (there is a car lane) to pickup my wheelchair bound sister. I was told, repeatedly NO. Not only could they not access that lane to pick her up, no one from the ship would be able to bring her down to the road. Seems as if once again, they lied. When we departed the ship, my cousins had driven as far up the lane as they could, parked and were waiting inside the customs building when we exited. Part 3 We also had a slight snafu with our first seating dining. Seems some travellers did not understand the meaning of seating dining or assigned tables. Our dining room staff handled it better than I would have, and we received champagne for dinner the next night as an apology. If it were not for the dining room staff, Royal Carribean would only have receive a ONE! Our dining staff went above and beyond. In fact, they were the highlight of the trip (outside of all the family fun and games). Finally, there is the new fee of $67.50 for gratuities. I don't mind tipping, and tip based on actual service. Since tipping is now included for every person on the cruise, I feel their customer service reflects this as a given. Many people don't have the personality, the will or the heart to offer genuine customer service. Our last stateroom attendant did. The one we had for this cruise was MIA, he never once asked if we needed anything. Not once. Guess that sums up my disappointment with Royal Caribbean, and Grandeur of the Seas. My official renaming is Ghetto of the Seas for those in the know. I hope it returns to the glory of old - old as in 2 years ago! Read Less

Another couple, my husband and I initially enjoyed a one day cruise (for Travel agents) which was satisfactory, one day prior to an adjoining cruise. We had decided to purchase an immediate next day cruise on the same ship (a day following the travel agents cruise) We were able to remain onboard for a three day (one way cruise) to Colon, Panama. We had not experienced any problems during the one day cruise; perhaps, it was because Royal Caribbean were doing their best to impress the Travel agents from the dining experience to entertainment (which was flown in for one night). First I want to mention that all four of us that traveled together were all seniors (well over the age of 60) Problems began when we remained on board, and we actually watched our luggage being removed from the Pursers desk (area) on the same luggage rack at 10 am enroute of immediate delivery to our rooms (3 decks up). However, my husband and our friends (whose suite was next to ours) was delivered within 15 minutes. My luggage was not found for over 11 hours. The pursers desk staff continually out and out lied to us that my luggage was being delivered to my room within moments to even lying that they had just spoken with housekeeping to locate the luggage. Finally, after numerous inquiries about the luggage, a supervisor became involved; only after his involvement was there really a search for my luggage. We assumed that it probably was delivered to an incorrect room, but eventually it was located and delivered (with no apologies) 11 hours later. Additional disappointments: were that we discovered in our suite that the toilets would not flush from time to time. Along with occasional sewage stench smells throughout the ship (no explanation given) The entertainment on the ship was nile to none and what was offered was merely horrible to include on one of the nights an imitation "Village People" group performance of men that were not only horrible dancers but several of them did not know the lip-synced words of the songs that they were performing too. The Royal Caribbean performers were not good at all, and the Royal Caribbean aerial performers were not in sync. The daily activities were a total waste of time- ranging from "how to fold napkins to animal towel folding". The activities Director should be fired! Then upon disembarking from the ship- we had a Royal Caribbean excursion waiting for us. As we were leaving the ship, my husband and our friends were told that we had to return to the Pursers desk as there was a message that needed to be cleared up. We had to push through the crowds of people disembarking from the ship and finally made our way to the pursers desk to only be asked, if the credit cards that we had provided them was correct. We had been charging purchases all three days of our time on this ship, with no one questioning our purchases or the card. If there were concerns, a block should have been applied or the least that should have happened is that they should have contacted us. This was quite upsetting and when we asked if there was a concern, why weren't we notified in advance? Again, the staff lied and said that they had sent a message to our suite to come to the pursers office (which no message was ever received or sent too us) along with we did not even receive a statement of purchases. What was even more upsetting was that they only wanted all of us to simply say "yes" that this was our credit card. The card had nver been refused because they never processed it for payment. Again, no apologies for this waste of our time and effort. As we had to begin the disembarkation process all over! Finally, we paid for a six hour Royal Caribbean excursion Panama canal tour once we arrived in Colon, Panama, which was suppose to include a movie film about the Canal locks; which was not provided to us; instead this $60 pp excursion only included a tour (more like a drive enroute to the airport drop off) through the impoverished city of Colon, a view of a cemetry ()which no one onboard, understood why this very small cemetry was pointed out to us, as an attraction), a ticket to the watch tours of the Canal (no ships and not much to look at) and we were only allowed to remain there for 1 hour; then a hour of shopping to a mall; then, we were dropped off at the airport. This was hardly worth $120 which we paid (for two people) in advance. So to summarize, this was one of the worst cruises that we've ever experienced and we cruise often. Royal Caribbean should have reimbursed everyone- as the Grandeur ship was simply a horrible experience Just beware should you choose the Grandeur as your next cruise! Read Less
