The grand mother recommended the cruise with Royal Caribbean. The good food was great the staff where friendly the room attendant was great the waiter in the dinning room was great. The bad 2 broken hot tubs, Broken ice cream machine, unwashed windows, and rust abounding on the exterior of the ship. Now the Ugly I dropped my children off at the teen center on the ship for a "in room scavenger hunt" as described in the teen flyer. I come to find out it was a all over the ship scavenger hunt how easy at 10 pm. at night would it be for teen to be abducted and raped and thrown overboard? Brought the issue to guest services it was never addressed!!!!!!! More ugly RC claimed a port of call at coco cay which I hear from others frequently is cancelled so they flat out lied and offered no other port of call. Last of the ugly Shore excursions were great but very short not a good value. Read Less

As a first time cruiser, although I asked experienced cruises and read a lot about cruising. There are many things that you are not sure if until personally experienced. First, getting on the ship, a lot of unknowns. Felt a little cattle hurdled to the buffet area since the cabins and many other areas were not ready. The buffet was very crowded and difficult to find seating. We had a large group, 6 with a handicap. There were many large tables, a lot occupied by a small group. People will sit and keep their seat even after done eating until the cabins are ready. Once the initial rush over, and cabins open, it was much easier to move bout the ship. Booked a window cabin. The cabin and bathroom was nicer than I expected except the sink. It was a bowl sitting on top of the very small counter and the faucet was very close the the edge of the bowl, making it virtually impossible to get both hands under the running water to wash at the same time. The beds are two singles pushed together. They need to be replaced. Used and uncomfortable. When you looked at the beds, it was like two "U" next to each other as they were very worn down and sagged in the middle. There seemed to be plentry of storage for our clothes and personal items. I did get the over the door shoe organizer which was great. Dinned in the main dinning room, cafe, Starbucks, and the buffet. The food was average. The buffet selection was huge for all meals. More over quantity than quality. There were a few dishes that I felt were very good. The "catch" of the day everyday in the main dinning room was salmon. It was very did, but everyday? Did not enroll in an shore excursions. Planned our own and was able to do many things and felt it was a cheaper way to go. Exiting and returning to the ship was very easy. Our group was part of 82 fellow cruises for a line dance cruise. It was great, we danced everyday. One room that was reserved was great, hardwood floor and could accommodate everyone. The other was too small with a slate foor. Only about 1/4 of the dancers could dance at the same time. Did not attend many activities on the ship because of dancing. However, did get lured into the shopping events and information sessions to get a free item. Found out it was just a money maker for the ship and will not waste my time again. Be aware of "information sessions". The ship has a few designated smoking areas. I am not a smoker. One area is on an outside deck under the top deck, so the smoke lingers in the area. It was disgusting at times, want to go for a walk outside and sell the sea breez and end up coughing on smoke. The other area is in the casino. I'm not a gambler, however, would have tried a few games if it was not so smokey. The casino is adjacent to the open atrium. At times, you could smell smoke on any floor the open atrium area. It was very disappointing. Especially since it was a nice p,ace to sit and chat, look outside and watch the entertainment on the lower deck. Disembarkation was a little misinformed. Yes, they ensure you have the information about the process. Luggage outside your room by 11 pm, however, if your trying to sleep, after 11 for a few hours the staff are moving the luggage and walking up and down halls bumping walls and doors. Morning of, is similar to boarding, crowds running to same place. Understand, the ship is now closed for you in all areas since they are getting ready for the next customer. After the rush for breakfast and the initial scampering around, there seems to be some confusion and unexpected waiting. So, you sit in your designated area and wait to be called. Impressed with the patients and helpfulness of all staff. They always had time for a smile and a quick chat to make you feel welcome. It was evident that customer service was an important part of the training for them. Overall, for a first cruise, I enjoyed the trip and felt it was a good value for the price. Read Less

We went with a group of 31 people from the Elks. We all had a good time despite the weather. The food was good, the entertainment was good. We appreciate how much the staff cleaned all the time to make sure we had a healthy trip. The music was entertaining. We especially enjoyed the violinist and guitarist. They were very gifted. The ventriloquist was very funny. Really enjoyed his show. Watched it two times. We also enjoyed the Tango dancing. We like the size of this ship. Easy to find your way around. The entire staff was very friendly. We also enjoyed the Anchor Society get together where we got to be introduced to all the Captain and his staff. All in all it was a good trip despite the fact we lost 2 days due to technical problems. We will be sailing again soon hopefully with RC. Thanks to everyone on board for making it a great vacation!!!! Read Less

Group of family/friends goes on cruise annually. This year we were faced with norovirus, high seas, a mechanical break down and an unanticipated extension of the trip. Was impressed with crew as they dealt with the norovirus that someone brought on board. None of the 12 in our groups was affected, and am sure it was because of crew's attention to "washy washy" details. Was disappointed we did not get to Coco Cay. One of our favorite places to be. But rough seas kept us in Nassau for safety reasons. The amazing crew kept us happy, well fed, and entertained during the "adventure" of losing the starboard steering mechanism. We had an extra 2 days added to the cruise while the ship was repaired. Huanxiu was an amazing wait staff. She always remembered preferences and names, and made our dining a treat. The cabin staff was great in managing a group with 2 disabled travelers. Trivia -- had a great time with the crew. Read Less

This cruise was chosen by my mom because she had never been to Bermuda. A group of 18 family and friends accompanied her to celebrate her 80th birthday. The age ranges were from 18 months to 80 years. Aboard the service was efficient and very personal. Every need was met as well as some anticipated needs. The staff and crew were friendly and personable with a great emphasis on customer satisfaction. The tour guide we acquired in Bermuda, Mr. T., was a seasoned native who was excellent and knew the island very well. The port has many of the "flavors" of the island in the Clock Tower Mall which is within walking distance of the dock. Nassau has breathtakingly beautiful homes occupied by many famous persons which are best seen, in my opinion, via the waterways tours. Paradise Island which contains Atlantis was also very beautiful. The architecture, extravagant chandeliers/fixtures and history contained therein was interesting as well. CocoCay has constructively expanded since I was there last with many more chairs/loungers on the beach, reasonable pricing for the all day umbrella rentals, volleyball, basketball and a children's water play area. The tenders ran frequently and efficiently to the island. Plans for a pier are in the works within the next 2-3 years. About 8 of our cruisers were first timers who stated they would definitely cruise again!!! Read Less

Some work friends picked the cruise and dates about a year ago. I really enjoyed the experience. We loved Bermuda but did not feel we had enough time to enjoy it, it would be nice to have 2 full days there. As for Nassau, I did not feel that it was a very safe place, the beach that we walked to have trash in it and I would not have felt safe staying there. We had a driver given to us by a security guard who did a great job showing us around we would not have gotten to see everything without him. The excursions through the cruise company are expensive, if you research you can do those on your own. My daughter who is 18 did a snorkeling and dolphin thing and enjoyed those, but it would be expensive for all of us to do that. I would have rather seen more of coca cay, the straw market people were friendly and the beach was beautiful or other areas of the bahamas not Nassau. I would never get off the boat there again. I loved the ship, the cabin with windows, I felt it was very relaxing. I liked being able to participate in whatever activiites you wanted. The dining staff was excellent, I did feel that the windjammer could be overwhelming with the amount of people there. I would go again but would really look into the ports of call before to make sure it is somewhere I want to go and the safety of the place. The people that I saw in Nassau were not friendly to visitors and would not walk around there at night. Staying there until 11:30pm did not make sense to me. I loved leaving from Baltimore and would do that again. Read Less

Room service every mourning was a treat with our balcony cabin. The activity staff kept us laughing through out the cruise. We tried to participate in as much activities as time allowed , enjoyed everything , even activities I would not normally participate in such as trivia and dance classes. We traveled with our adult son,and extended family that has a teen age daughter. we always found something to do but not all together , always met up for dinner in the dinnig room . We booked our next cruise while we were on board, the ease of booking and perks we received made it impossible to pass up. Read Less

This was mine, and my girlfriends, first cruise. We took the trip with 28 other people ranging from toddlers to 60 year olds for a wedding of friends. Traveling with a large group made the trip even more fun then expected. Boarding the ship was fairly easy, checking in took the longest and we were told some miss information about not needing our passports for the rest of the trip, that was false and almost prevented people from boarding again in FL. Checking into the room was a breeze and luggage was delivered before dinner. The food on the ship was amazing, every single meal between the Windjammer cafe, to the dinning room for breakfast and dinner and the sushi and steak restaurants was out of this world good. The events on the ship were fun and numerous, at no point could anyone say they were bored. Ports, FL, Nassau and Coco Cay. Problem #1 There wasn't enough time in Coco cay for anyone's liking. It took almost an hour to get off the ship, and almost as long to get back on at 430 pm, Most in our group agreed that we could have skipped Nassau and went directly to Coco Cay for longer. Problem # 2. The wait time to get drinks can get up to 20-30 minutes, the bar tenders poured great drinks and had very heavy pours on EVERYTHING so that was nice, but it took FOREVER to get a drink, at dinner, at any bar and god help you if you were on the deck and ordered one. The time to get served was obnoxious compared to land based bars that would have served 15 people in the time it took to get me one beer. Problem # 3. They have KIDS ONLY hot tubs. This became very annoying for the adult guests who paid good money to use pools and hot tubs only to be told a group of 6 year olds, with no parents, had the hot tub and adults could not use it. Kids don't need hot tubs, its not safe, they are provided a very nice pool to swim in. As you have read my complaints are very few and not bad at all, the trip was amazing, the food was better then anything I have ever had, the service, outside of bar tenders, was incredible. Take the trip, enjoy every second. GET A BALCONY ROOM, we regret not spending the extra $ to upgrade and enjoy the sea air at night and sunrises in the morning. Also, if you drink and beer or alcohol at all, buy the premium package, its a life saver and makes everything much more convent when you don't have to worry about drink prices when you are drunk and ordering your 6th drink of the day. Embarkation: Arrived at Baltimore Pier around 10:00. Lines were long-ish but moved quickly. Processed quickly and efficiently. Greeted by photographer and maitre'd, which was convenient for making dinner reservations. Boarding: Plenty of seating while we waited. Nice selection of food in the Windjammer, although it was crowded and we had trouble finding seating. Took a while for some of our party's bags to be delivered, but my roomie and I found ours in the pile and took them ourselves. Setting sail: Nice party atmosphere on the upper decks-music, drinks, dancing. Fun arrival of the local news helicopter. Stateroom: Clean and well-stocked with towels, etc. Frederick, our steward, introduced himself right away and gave us a card to contact him when needed. He took away the mini-bar at our request (actually he hid it under the bed, but at least it was out of the way). Cruise Compasses and towel animals arrived as expected and on time. Main dining room: Our waiter, Dattaram, was polite, efficient and thorough. Food was delicious and plentiful. Always had a table available with the My Time dining. Specialty restaurants: My friend and I purchased the dining package which included three specialty restaurants and the Chef's Table (more on that later). Chops was tasty, nothing outstanding. Giovanni's Table was delicious, and the service was excellent. Izumi's sushi was very good and again we had outstanding service. Chef's Table: This specialty offer for 12 people was a highlight of the trip. We had a chef, sommalier, and maitre d'. We spent close to three hours at dinner. Five delicious courses with a wine pairing for each. Wonderful company and amazing service. Excursions: Lots of good options. I did Kennedy Space Center, visited Cocoa Cay, and toured Nassau with a driver. Activities: Lots of fun things! Our group loved trivia which was offered daily. I am not a Bingo person, but several in our group enjoyed it. Others did the Scavenger hunts, napkin folding, and talks. I did the scrapbooking (which had a good deal on page kits) and salsa dancing. The Quest was hysterical and while a bit naughty, not over the top rude. The Activities staff was excellent-LOVED Darryl, Julie, John, and my fav Desmond. On-board entertainment: This is the one area that needs some work for me. The first night's comedian was pretty funny. The RC Singers and Dancers were ok, but their material is a little dated and needs to be better coordinated to their talents. Voices 3 was my favorite, their song selection and onstage rapport was very enjoyable. The impersonator was not the best. The final night's comedian again was just ok. We did love the "Love and Marriage" game show-a couple from our party was in it and that made it even more fun. Gym: Plenty of machines in the A.M. Classes were ok, instructor wasn't a yoga expert but still got a good stretch. Disembarkation: Fast and easy. Other: I didn't use the spa services, but others from our party were pleased. Pools and hot tubs were ok, weren't always hot when they should have been. I discovered the Park Cafe back behind the Solarium Pool and that was my favorite spot for breakfast. I loved the interactive screens at the elevators, complete with menus. Weird smell on the last night. Read Less
