As this was our 1st cruise was wondering how it would turn out and we were pleasantly surprised.
Flights from Glasgow to Palma were fine, at the airport we were greeted by the Royal Caribbean representative who pointed us to the bus waiting to take us to the port which was about 30 mins away. The transfer was all very smooth.
Check in went well also, no problems embarking, headed for the ...
We had a full day and night in Venice prior to embarkation, it is a magnificent city - completely different. We stayed in a hotel near Piazza Roma, which meant we were only 2 mins walk from the people mover, a monorail which for 1 euro took us to the port within 5 minutes. The ship has recently been refurbished and you can tell - it was fantastic. The staterooms were spacious and definitely bigger ...
Before the Cruise we stayed in a nice hotel in Barcelona, we searched Trip Advisor for the best locations/price. Any hotel on La's Rambles will be great and offered my son (13) and I (47), a great place to walk, people watch and eat. We purchased a double Decker bus ticket(On and off type for the entire day), from a vendor on La's Rambles. We had the best meal of our entire trip at a small ...
We had the pleasure to sail on the Grandeur of the Seas in its very first sailing after its month-long dry-dock. This was our first cruise on Royal Caribbean and also our first time to Europe and the Mediterranean. This was also our first booking in a suite -- and it likely won't be the last now that we know what we've been missing!
CHECK-IN -- Our check-in was swift, but part of that is ...
We flew from Newcastle to Palma, and arrived just after 11am, however it took us over 4 hours to actually get on the boat, even though we were last on the coach at the airport it still sat there for another 30 minutes. Then they took us to this castle at the top of Palma overlooking the bay and finally the port which took over an hour to check us in. Why don't they have more people taking your ...
The Grandeur is now off to the Carribean so I won't bother with the western med itinery and will keep my review to the ship. You will have a great time on her thats for sure. We booked a Junior suite and it was spacious and super clean. Good size flat screen tv, fridge and bath, Oue cabin attendant Roger $Ruez for superb and would sing to us every time we saw him. He put smiles on our faces ...
Cruise went from Palma to Cannes, Rome, Sicily and Florence. I will begin with our only criticism which is that the drinks were very expensive, don't buy cans of Fosters they are $13 dollars each, we had 2 children with us and would strongly recommend the kids soda package. We didn't buy the adult packages as we don't drink very much alcohol.
The food was lovely with the option of fine dining in ...
We embarked the Grandeur in Palma de Mallorca which was without bigger problems, the staff in port was very helpful and it all went really fast.
We booked inside large cabin, which we also had, however since it was oriented "alongside the lobby" it felt quite small. Comparing to the same category cabin on the same class of ship two months ago (Vision), this felt like 1/2. On the other ...
I will agree with other critics that it wasn't faultless. My husband and I took our six year old son off for a week around the Spanish Mediterranean. The ports were not the most exciting to call at other than Barcelona, but we knew that when we booked and our aim was purely to relax and have some time together.
Embarkation was messy but less so than the scrum at Palma Airport to get on a ...
Well! I am a cruise-convert! My first ever cruise was a wonderful trip around the Western Mediterranean, taking in Palma de Mallorca, Cannes, Cinque Terre, Rome and Sicily. As this was my first time on a cruise, I was unsure of what to expect. Luckily my friend is a veteran at this stage and was able to inform me of what cruising entails. Now, having experienced the joys of travelling by ship, I'm ...
