This was suppose to be a fun, family & friends birthday cruise but it was anything but that ! I invited my girlfriend & her husband who both were first time cruiser.(celebrating her birthday) My husband was a first time cruiser as well, also celebrating his birthday. It was a party of 14 of us in total. So out of the 14 there was 11 first time cruiser. Myself, My Sister, & friend were the only 3 who have cruise over 5-8 times before so we know how things can be. We understand that there is nothing you can do about the weather. We had one half day were we experience rough waters & cause the ship to be rocky. Again not too much can be done. I do feel like hey could have gave us some kind of refund or credit beside one $10.20 port fee. We only had one true day in port. ! Our cruise was @ sea & I really feel like I was ripped off. We stopped in one port for only 45mins. Everything was close & it was dark. This was THE WORST EVER VACATION IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! I feel like my hard earned money was truly wasted! I also experience my first night a rude waiter in the main dinning area. Also they did not seat our entire party together one night due to others seating @ our assigned tables. They stated to us it was not a big deal, but our guest that was not able to be seated felt different. The only good thing I can say about this vacation was the staff was amazing. Stateroom staff, never had to asked for anything, I head waiter Joe was everything as well. he made sure everyone was please & the entertainment wasn't too bad but could have been more since we were struck @ sea most of the trip!!!! I don't think I will ever take a cruise with Royal again. They just didn't do us right!!!! The food was not as good in the main dinning area, The Windjammer was great through. My husband & did experience with a customer service desk member as well. Again Don't think I will do a Royal Caribbean cruise again after thinking about all we went through. Nothing in return to soften the blow. Just a big fat I took your money & what are you going to do about it?!!! That's how I have taken the experience on this cruise & ship. Read Less

The grand mother recommended the cruise with Royal Caribbean. The good food was great the staff where friendly the room attendant was great the waiter in the dinning room was great. The bad 2 broken hot tubs, Broken ice cream machine, unwashed windows, and rust abounding on the exterior of the ship. Now the Ugly I dropped my children off at the teen center on the ship for a "in room scavenger hunt" as described in the teen flyer. I come to find out it was a all over the ship scavenger hunt how easy at 10 pm. at night would it be for teen to be abducted and raped and thrown overboard? Brought the issue to guest services it was never addressed!!!!!!! More ugly RC claimed a port of call at coco cay which I hear from others frequently is cancelled so they flat out lied and offered no other port of call. Last of the ugly Shore excursions were great but very short not a good value. Read Less

We were excited to see these ports in Canada and New England, all of them new to us. Definitely a trip I had looked forward to, celebrating our 45th anniversary and a birthday. Some of the things they could have managed were smoother transitions for tours off the ship. Maybe special accommodations for handicap accessible needs, such as a bus for their slower pace. Why show a skateboarding and bmx video almost 24-7 for such a senior crowd? Help the visiting speaker with his video and technology issues ahead of time. Dr. Thomas Ryan was disorganized, slides were too small, technically challenged. Keep the photographers from attacking you. Don't interrupt dinner to up sale the other dining rooms. The art work on many levels was not desirable. Have a quiet public space available at all times, even when at sea. Some staff members were amazing, others could have been more helpful when there was a need. The review said the ship was remodeled. I am not sure where. The emissions control that was blocked off looked like a long on going endeavor. Some things were out of the cruise lines control, such as limited fall colors, due to weather patterns. Boston was over crowded with way too many tourists to enjoy the city or really see the sites. Many of the passengers on the ship had physical limitations, which inhibited movement about the ship and on excursions. Read Less

We chose this cruise because the port was close. I usually stay at Marriott’s and I am used to clean comfortable rooms. The room made me uncomfortable. I did not want to go down to get dressed up for dinner and spent any time in the room. My mother tried to sleep on the deck just to avoid having to be in the room. That proved to be too noisy. If you are not comfortable with old carpeting with stains this ship is not for you. The furniture looked dirty and old and there is no luggage rack. Also bring clothes you don't have to iron because you will not get a iron with the room. The hair dryer is also too weak to dry long hair. If you are expecting steak and lobster or sea bass this cruise may also not be for you. This ship also does not have the cocktails that are advertised online. Read Less

This was a getaway cruise for just my wife and I to relax away from our kids. However, it started off very poorly as soon as we got to the terminal. We spent almost 1 hour in our car in a line on the street waiting to get into the terminal parking lot. Then we spent an hour waiting in the Gold line to check in (Very poorly managed line versus tellers even when there was no one waiting in the higher level customer lines). Ship was 3 hours late leaving the first day due to engine problems. Ship appeared dirty during the entire cruise. Only half the soda machines were working. The internet package sucked. It would not stay connected and/or had trouble finding their network. As soon as your device went to locked screen, their internet would disconnect. Thus, any messages coming in would not wake up your device with a notification. You would not get those incoming messages until you manually woke up your device and reconnected to your device. These disconnects were long before the automatic 2 hour non-usage disconnect that they tell you about. There was still construction occurring on the ship during the cruise. It seemed like the ship was under staffed to take care of the customers. I don't believe the ship was even fully booked either, which makes it worse. Staff was very slow at cleaning up trash on the ship or clearing tables in common dinning areas of the ship. We were told the ship just sailed up from dry dock work, so this was the first cruise after dry dock. I don't think all the repairs were completed given our experience on this cruise. Read Less

I was on the Granduer for Christmas just last year. The only difference is that last year RCCL offered 2 week long cruises over the holidays, when this year it was 1 12-day cruise over both Christmas and New Years. Compared to last year: 1. Qualtiy of food drastically went down. 2. Dinner menue selections were repetitive. 3. Quality of both dining room and cabin steward service drastically went down. 4. Entertain was just plain bad. Most in my group of 20 (who are Emerald & above Crown & Anchor members), either walked out of each show or sat through them and complained about how bad they were. 5. Only thing on the TV that ever changed was CNN and Sports. They continually ran the same episodes over and over and over. 6. All but 2 movie was geared toward children. Christmas children's and animated shows are expected, but after Christmas, they still ran the same kid's movies in the Palladium and on Pool Deck: Angry Birds, Minions, Annie were each show 3-4 times each. James Bond's Specter (1 time) and Suicide Squad (2 times) were the only adult movies shown and not until January 2nd, the 10th day of a 12 day cruise. 7. Never had an outdoor luch barbecue. I would not recommend the Grandeur, except for the fact that it leaves out of Baltimore, so we didn't have to fly. Read Less

Ship is 20 years old and shows it. But that doesn't begin to show how Royal Caribbean is falling down on their promises of WOW ! We have been on 30 cruises of which 8 were RC's, and 6 were on this ship "The Grandeur of the Seas". We started cruising on the Grandeur in 2004 and have steadily seen the ship deteriorate as well as the service. Lets start with the cabin which was adaquit for 2 people , though it was aged and in need of many minor repairs, even so ,the room steward "Moses" did a great job of taking care of our every need. Dinning was another story : Windjammer was unmanaged , as they were constantly out of silerware, napkins, certain foods, and if you were lucky enough to get a plate of food and napkin, and silverware then you had to search for a clean table , as most were piled high with dirty dishes which means that there is not enough staff to take care of the eating venue. The Great Gatsby Dinning experience was even worse with just 3 courses to serve ,we seldom were able to get out of the restaurant in under 2 hours, usually 2 and 1/2 This created problems in scheduling your evening activities as most started at 7pm and we were still waiting on our main course. We had missed orders, , no follow up on bread, drinks , bar service , , butter , sugar, etc. we felt like 3rd class citizens , having to ask other waiters to help us. Most important to me was the fact that the waiter was supposed to bring a cake on our last sea day and sing happy birthday to my wife . They FORGOT ! Entertainment was limited to one group called "Liverpool Legends " the rest of the cruise was 2 years old performances by the staff, one comic and one juggler, all mediocor at best. Worst part of entertainment was the promised Certrum Aerial act which is advertised on tv as well as their website , for this particular ship!! They didn't have one, They didn't give a reason for cancelling , and there were 2000 disappointed people. There was no recognition of my Crown and Anchor status which was emmerald/ diamond! There was no suite departure lounge with breakfast , as promised! There was no welcome back after six cruises on this ship. there was no welcome aboard gift nor lapel pins , as promissed ! Requested Photo's of my dinning partners was lost ? or they didn't print more than one after we requested 3. In general: Royal Caribbean and Grandeur of the Seas crew need to improve their service, recognition, entertainment, security, and overall appreciation for cruising with them. THERE ARE OTHER AND BETTER CRUISE CHOICES ! TV is very, very limited to most shows about there own product ( Selling you another Cruise ). CNN , Espn and replays of old shows on TNN. At least on Carnival they show movies , you can interact by ordering first run movies, see your on board account, reserve excursions, dinner reservations and more. Read Less
