We loved the ports! But the wait staff and crew were amazing. Food was excellent! Greeeeaaaat foood Omg! Service was definitely an A+. I would recommend these ports and this trip. Also disembarkation was so easy and smooth. My dad is handicapped and we had no issues at the ports except one which was bar harbor, because there were tenders. But a great trip overall. My family and i enjoyed thoroughly! The kids enjoyed also. We took a 1 and 2 year old. I had my concerns about safety originally because they are so active. However, that proved to be unnecessary worry as there were no hiccups. As soon as we boarded, my mind was immediately at ease. Kids enjoyed their time, in and out of the pool also. Lifeguards always in duty. I could be worry free. Great food! Great service! Great staff! Great trip! Loved and enjoyed soooo much! Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports in New England. We had not been to this area of our country and wanted to see several with the bonus of Canada. The ship is nice and entertainment was great. I would have liked to see more arts and crafts besides scrapbooking ?? because I do not gamble. 9 days is a long cruise so we need more entertainment during day time for the arts. Room was comfortable and staff at bars, restaurants, and spa are fantastic. The menu for gluten free folks is basically the original menu without gravies, sauces, and breadcrumbs....so a bit bland but I still managed to gain some weight. hahahaha Evening entertainment and Dancing was awesome. The DJ was great. We really enjoyed ourselves. Our favorite port is Bar Harbor and recommend the Pedego bicycles and you must do the loop road in Acadia National park.....fantastic! Please indulge in some lobster and blueberry pie....I didn't get pie but I heard some ooos and ahhhs with each order. Read Less

Pros: Awesome experience for our first RCL cruise. Service, food, accomodations, staff and ports of call were excellent and would highly recommend. Arranging shore excursions was easy. Those excursions and guides were extremely knowledgeable about their content. Entertainment /shows was "top shelf". We chose this cruise for two reasons: first, our 44th wedding anniversary and second because it was going north in cooler waters and a cooler daily temperature. Had some rain enroute but had no impact of our plans or excursions. Boarding and diembaration was the easiest and most organized of any cruise we have been on. RCL can stick a feather in their hat for such planning and organization! Cons: Avoid their internet. Very pricy and a hassle to logon and stay on. Once connected, it drops signal. In addition, slower than dial up (1200 baud) phone modem. Ship needs to add an "app" for daily acitivity with a reliable internet. Read Less

We picked this ship because of the itinerary and loved the ports. However, the ship was average. Average food, entertainment, cruise director and activity staff. Another problem I had with this ship was that they put the ping pong tables so close to the smoking section of the deck. Who wants to smell smoke when they are playing ping pong? My teen sons loved the teen room. We booked excursions that were not connected to RCCL and saved money. We had a tight schedule in St. John and our private tour guide told us if we actually missed the ship, he would drive us to the next port of Halifax. We made it back in plenty of time and had an amazing time at the Fundy Trail. We flew into Washington DC and spent a couple of days there before the cruise and stayed an extra day in Baltimore at the end. Coming from FL, we enjoyed the cooler weather and got to see a lot before and after the cruise in those two big cities. Read Less

Love the Grandeur and this itinerary. The crew is the friendliest and most amazing group of people. They all do everything they can to make sure that the guests are happy. The guests all seem like they are having a great time. The pianist in the Schooner bar was great. Rookie did a wonderful performance. Even the new cruisers were having a great time. They tried to do some awesome activities and parties. This is a ship that you want to be on and sail many times . The Captain is awesome and seen often about the ship. He goes to the Wind jammer like everyone else This ship is the friendliest with an amazing crew. They are dedicated professionals. They are committed to making the cruise perfect for every one. This is a wonderful cruising experience. I would heartily recommend.. There is a very high number of passengers returning to the Grandeur for a great cruise! Read Less

We were excited to see these ports in Canada and New England, all of them new to us. Definitely a trip I had looked forward to, celebrating our 45th anniversary and a birthday. Some of the things they could have managed were smoother transitions for tours off the ship. Maybe special accommodations for handicap accessible needs, such as a bus for their slower pace. Why show a skateboarding and bmx video almost 24-7 for such a senior crowd? Help the visiting speaker with his video and technology issues ahead of time. Dr. Thomas Ryan was disorganized, slides were too small, technically challenged. Keep the photographers from attacking you. Don't interrupt dinner to up sale the other dining rooms. The art work on many levels was not desirable. Have a quiet public space available at all times, even when at sea. Some staff members were amazing, others could have been more helpful when there was a need. The review said the ship was remodeled. I am not sure where. The emissions control that was blocked off looked like a long on going endeavor. Some things were out of the cruise lines control, such as limited fall colors, due to weather patterns. Boston was over crowded with way too many tourists to enjoy the city or really see the sites. Many of the passengers on the ship had physical limitations, which inhibited movement about the ship and on excursions. Read Less

We chose Grandeur of the Seas based on a previous cruise on it to Bermuda - TOP tier entertainment; not so much this cruise. Staff in the main dining room were absolutely EXCEPTIONAL but the food was typically not not though the staff would quickly remedy that. The ship was probably a 9 out of 10 on cleanliness - the cabin was a 10 on cleanliness and upkeep by the steward. The ports and excursions - two out of four were interesting and two were boring. The worst part of the cruise was being told that no Accessible Rooms were available, AFTER being told I had one. Then, encountering a woman who was upset because she was put in an Accessible Room, and told when she asked for another room that "none were available." Meanwhile, I had asked if RC would check to see if there were Accessible Rooms given to people who did not NEED one, and I was told they would check that, but ultimately, I was told that none were available to switch with. While our cabin was clean and well tended to, it was terribly cramped and using the shower was a nightmare. Apparently, once assigned a room, Royal Caribbean will NOT even attempt to get you into an appropriate room. The did take the coffee table out of our cabin to make SOME room for my power wheelchair. The cabin was given an "Excellent" rating because, while too small, it was tended too by a VERY accommodating steward. Read Less

Love the friendliness of the crew, fantastic Captain with a great sense of humor! Itinerary was great. I did a B2B Canada/New England followed by Bermuda. When you go to the Centrum bar look up Madagascar, best bar tender in the fleet. Food was mainly good, some meals could be improved upon. Deck 4 is the best deck in my opinion, right off the Centrum, close to dining room and embarkation/debarkation elevators etc. I had an interior cabin as ship was booked, NEVER AGAIN, they are small and very dry. My eyes are still recovering from the dryness as is my skin! You will love Captain Andre, he has his 2 little ones with him and 1 made an announcement for us to spend lots of money so her Dad could make more money to buy her and her little brother presents, lol. Love his personality’s!!! I was surprised as to how many children were onboard as school is in session, so it would be a great cruise for families with kids. Read Less

This cruise was perfect in almost every way. Embarkation: Easy breezy in Baltimore. The port authority staff was friendly and helpful. We dropped our luggage on a wagon, and walked in to fill out paperwork. We arrived at the port at 11 am and walked right onto the Grandeur within 15 minutes. Ship: As previously stated in other reviews, the Grandeur is a bit older and does show some wear. However, the ship was clean and well-kept. Cabin: 3753. This was our first time on an "inside" cabin and it was perfect for our use. Dark and quiet at night made for great sleeping. We had plenty of closet and drawer space. Our stateroom attendant (Bruce aka Ambrocio) kept our room incredibly clean and tidy and was super friendly. We did a combined bed (two twins together.) That was a minor complaint: the beds were a bit firm for my taste and there was the crack down the middle where the beds joined. Someone said you could ask for an egg crate topper which maybe we would do next time. Dining: For breakfast we went to the Windjammer a few times which was good, but since we are not huge breakfast eaters, we were very happy with the Park Cafe for egg sandwiches and a fruit cup. Lunch we ate off the ship, or the dining room on sea days. For dinner, we enjoyed the dining room My Time Dining. The food was good and the service was INCREDIBLE! Hats off to the Serving staff! By the end of the week however, we were getting a bit tired of the two hour sit-down formality and ventured to the Windjammer for dinner. Let me tell you that we were quickly won over as we were enjoyed our Indian food: special of the day. Special thanks to Umesh and Song for excellent service. We went to dinner at the Windjammer every night thereafter. Entertainment/Activities: SUPERIOR Entertainment!! The theater had a variety of shows from comedians to a trumpet player and juggler. Also, fun times were provided by Cruise Director and assistant (Cruisin' Susan and Tino) who were fabulous. Susan had us crackin' up at Quest and dancin' at the disco party and Tino did an incredible INCREDIBLE Michael Jackson impersonation. WOW!! I wish I had that on video. Thanks for your humor and for getting the crowd involved in the fun. Read Less

This cruise is perfect for seniors and youngsters alike....also for the disabled. My mother is in a wheelchair yet she enjoyed this cruise tremendously. Royal Caribbean provided attendants both for the embarkation and the disembarkation throughout the cruise and cruise stops. Also, my mother was given preferential seating on all tour excursions. We enjoyed all the ports of call and all of our shore excursions. Royal Caribbean provides many shore excursions to choose from. The entertainment on the ship was varied, plentiful, and excellent. Everyone on the staff treated us with kindness. The variety of foods in the public dining rooms was amazing....something for everyone's pallate. I have a gluten free diet, yet Royal Caribbean met all my dietary needs, as well. The staff aboard the ship was professional and excellent in every way. I would recommend this cruise to all friends and family. Wonderful and rewarding experience! Thank you, Royal Caribbean! Read Less

I was not excited about driving into Baltimore Harbor but found the access eased by signage and staff at hand. Parking lot was tricky. More direction could be given when paying the parking fee when entering. Overall, my accommodations with my daughter were excellent. The Stateroom attendant immediately noticed a light out and had it taken care of when we entered. The dining staff, main dining room, remembered our names and greeted us each evening. Problems we encountered: extremely hot water, be careful. Announcements by the crew were too loud and fast, considering the dialect as well. Could not absorb what was said. Dining very good, but some entrees were not enjoyed as much, though eaten. I liked seeing how the ship was anchored at each port, and for a fee, you can see how the ship is operated, met some of the crew, learned how the meals were prepared for so many, the bakery, the laundry, how the trash is prepared for pickup back in Baltimore, etc. Entertainment offered variety for all ages. Liked the least was shore excursions and I would advise choosing carefully, maybe not planning them at all and waiting until embarking each shore and talking with tour guides there. Look at all options for getting around if you choose to do the excursion on your own. I liked the city bus and the hop on/hop off buses, features of both. I do not feel that enough information is given or known about the excursions if planning aboard ship. You might consider also reading about the city you are going to visit before going there. The Boston tour guide was well informed of the history, in spite of traffic congestion and noise, (walking tour). The tour guide on the train of the Reversing Rapids Railway chatted too much about impertinent information and an attempt to steer her to more relevant information was futile. This excursion was most disappointing for the amount paid. I would travel again on Granduer of the Seas, and be more prepared to get the most out of the trip. Read Less

HIGHLIGHTS WERE WATCHING THE DOLPHINS & WHALES FROM OUR BALCONY Also dining at the captains table & tour of the bridge. We made many happy memories on board & are now planning another trip on granduer of the seas. Food was first class as was the service. Best cruise we have been on with regards to the service. The only critic is the sun beds are not that comfortable on deck & st johns in canada not that exciting but boston, portland, bar harbour & nova scotia are excellent. Did some of the bus tours which were great & the hop on hop off tours are very good too. Thumbs up to captain thor, your ship is fantastic & it was very nice meeting you. We like the cruse ship. Not too big not to small. the Port is near home. we are coming back in two more years on a 12 day cruse. the satff was great. The Windjamer was great. the stops were fine and we enjoyed the entir trip overall. We are going on more trips and the cruse option has many advantages such as full time service and food/entertainment all day long. The bigscreen was awsome and the sights added a lot of excitement to our cruse as well. As for improvements we recomend adding TRACK LIghts on all step in the vicking Disco Room on deck 11. I fell down because I thought the floor was one step down. Also the stateroom showers allow to much water on the Bath room floor.A sliding door would solve this problem. The port stops need to give people more time if posiable for general sight seeing. 20 mins. is not enough time. at the major stops.. Read Less

The Ports of Call plus the fact the pier was only 40 minutes from our home. All in all it was a great cruise. Food was excellent and the Dining Staff was one of the best we have had to date. Only thing was there were a couple of Ports of call that were too long and did not have enough time to see the city. Boston and Portland come to mind the most. Stateroom was clean and the attendant paid attention to details and was very friendly. Entertainment was fantastic, the best we have seen to date. Activities were plentiful and fun. The Cruise Director and the Activities Director were the best to date and we have been on at least 9 Royal Caribbean Members. We had a 2 person table and there were another 3 table similar to ours and we became instant friends and had a great time. We took a picture as a group with our wait staff and were sorry to leave them. In fact we are going to miss them very much. Read Less

We traveled Oct 13-22,2016. We picked the cruise because of the ports. The ports were good to excellent. It was easy for us to get on the ship. We arrived at 1:30 and walked on the ship by 1:50. We were able to carry on our bags right to our room. We had an interior and it was clean. We had great service with the room. The cruise was very good with excellent service in MDR. We had ATD. We went mostly at 5:00. It was busy, but service was very good to excellent. We never waited and sat at the same table every night. We had a table for 2. The entertainment was hit and miss. We were on the Grandeur last year, so some was a repeat for us. We could not complain about the weather it was great to be in the north, it was 60's and 70's. We booked three excursions through RCCL and two private excursions. The only issue I had was the way RCCL disembarked the excursions booked through RCCL. So excursions met on the ship and were escorted off. Some booked through RCCL met on the pier and had to get off the best way possible without missing the excursion. RCCL needs to review this process to help all paying for an excursion to get off the ship. All of the excursions were very good. Boston we toured Boston, Lexington and Concord through RCCL. It was mostly history. Portland was a private tour and we toured the city and lighthouse. This was an o.k. tour. Bar Harbor was a private tour{Olis Trolley) and was excellent. St. John we used RCCL excursion. We rode a train to see the reversing river and then hop on hop off of city. It was an o.k. tour. Halifax was also through RCCL and was excellent. We visited Peggy's cove and titanic graves. We used self-assist to leave and were the first to leave. We were off the ship and in the car in 10 minutes. This was our second time on Grandeur. We would cruise on the Grandeur again. Read Less

This cruise on Grandeur of the Seas redeemed the reputation of RCCI and Celebrity for me. Past cruises with RCCI and Celebrity had been disasters. This cruise on Grandeur of the Seas was GREAT very enjoyable. We and our friends had a great time. The staff and crew were the most pleasant, helpful, and courteous that we have encountered. Yes, the Grandeur is an older ship, a little warn around the edges, but the staff and crew make up the difference. GREAT PEOPLE!! The ports of call are all very good, only problem with the exception of Boston, just not enough time to spend ashore at the lovely ports. The Maine ports need at least a full day as well as St. Johns and Halifax. These cities and areas are too beautiful and important historically to rush through in a few hours. Need to add a couple more days to the cruise. Read Less
