Disappointing

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Grand Princess

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

Compared to previous Princess cruises, this was definitely a step down in service, food, entertainment. The ambiance of cruising was not there. No dress code for the MDR. Food service slow… MDR was akin to eating at the local diner. The staff did not make the experience ‘special’. Limited engagement with the waitstaff..more of a serve and get it over with vibe. Orders were sometimes ...

Nice small cruise but lots of issues

Seems like Princess are skimping on staff. Distinct lack of drinks waiters. Having to wait up to 20 minutes for a waiter to come by. Cost of drinks very expensive. Basic glass of wine $15.one would think that it would pay to have extra staff as this is where a lot of money is made. Food was great. Entertainment excellent. We only took x1 Princess excursion as they were ridiculously expensive, a ...

Old ship, ok food

We were travelling with friends from a previous cruise. There The ship is dated. The external appearance is worn. The interior fittings in looked dark and out of style but The cabin decks carpets looked worn. The ship layout was confusing having travel up and down decks to reach the rear restaurant. ,,, The medallion app was great and easy to use, streamlining drink orders etc. ...

Great service, OK food, limited activities

Balcony room was great, no issues at all. Though we did hear a few stories from other peoples cabins - no air conditioning, no hot water.. Bed was super comfortable, shower was great.. Food in the Horizon Court was always luke warm, and some surprsing omissions like plain biscuits. MDR menu was not vegetarian friendly, very limited options. Service throughout was excellent. Really ...

Grand Princess, Web site and pre planning an absolute nightmare

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Grand Princess

Spent far too much time and energy planning this cruise and cruise tour. The web site and app. is not user friendly and response time is hit and miss likely causing us to book our next cruise with another company. Otherwise I would have rated this cruise a solid 4, maybe even 5. However, The logisistics and on board and on land service was excellent at all levels. This was our 2nd Alaska ...

Just OK

There's a lot of things that made this entire experience not enjoyable from the beginning. Dealing with customer service is almost nonexistent. They do not reply to emails, when you cancel things on their website there's no way to tell if you're due reimbursement, where it goes, and their methodology for giving onboard credit versus a refund and when they issue is vague at best. We were due ...

Grand Princess needs a lot of improvements

We chose this cruise because the Grand Princess was a smaller ship that could turn around in Glacier Bay. Princess advertised that it's specialty was Alaska cruises but if that was their specialty, they have a long way to go.. Princess had a lot of incentives to get you to try their cruise line such as free drink packages and WIFI. The overall ship was fine but they had a LOT of areas that need ...

The embarkation was good, when we arrived to our suite we were surprised we had no cover on our balcony and we had all people above able to view us on the balcony. No privacy at all. Only booked three nights for dinner prior to leaving, thinking we could book as we went along. Only able to book 2 nights out of 9 for future meals, so just pot luck if you get in for dinner. The entertainment has not ...

Everything was pretty average

This is a review of my recent cruise on the Grand Princess including the new Premier Level option. We went on back to back weeks from Vancouver to Alaska and back again. We were in a mini-suite. The highs: --The room was nice: large bathroom, plenty of storage, a sitting area with couch and table and a nice balcony. --Room Stewart was great. She went above and beyond. Two examples: ...

Chose this cruise because of the destination. Apart from the ship being very tired, the crew are not as accommodating as previous cruises, this was echoed by several other guests. The room attendant assigned to our cabin never turned up when asked for a pair of scissors, the rudeness of bar staff was jawdropping, and we had serviettes thrown on our lap by waiters. There were no shuttles upon our ...
