Scandinavia on the Grand

We picked this 7 day break to get a taste of Scandinavia as we had not visited Denmark, Sweden or Norway before although we had been on the Grand Princess before. The suite was beautifully situated on the aft corner of the ship so we had amazing views all week and were able to experience ultimate balcony dining in a great setting-although in hindisght I would recommend a warmer climate than ...

My family have most recently cruised with Royal Caribbean, and NCL which we enjoyed. I had heard good things about Princess Cruises and we enjoyed this cruise overall but there were aspects that could be improved to make it a better experience. Parking at the port was very easy. Although we waited a short while for a space, it was painless. This was our first ex UK cruise and if you are willing ...

First time, disabled cruiser happy with Princess.

This was my first cruise and I chose Princess after a lot of research, specifically regarding facilities for disabled guests, as I have to use a wheelchair full time. My family party consisted of ages ranging between 11 and 73. We travelled from Yorkshire, 250 miles to Southampton by private taxi on the morning of the cruise, arriving just in time for our specified check-in. There was a lot of ...

7-5-12 The travelers included my husband and me, our kids, and my mother. Our daughter turned 12 on the cruise and our son turned 9 on the cruise. Arrived in London around noon. We stayed at the elegant Chancery Court Hotel. The staff were very personable and helpful. The kids enjoyed riding on the London Eye. Had a good dinner at Garfunkel's near the Strand area. 7-6 We had a wonderful ...

My sister and I flew into Heathrow and spent two days in London before the cruise. We enjoyed the ride on the London Eye, visits to the National Gallery and the British Museum, a cruise on the Thames, and walking around the city. We also saw two wonderful shows in London. Billy Elliot, a musical version of the movie, was very lively and entertaining - great dancing, singing, and a good plot. ...

This was our second Princess Cruise, the first being in 2009 on Crown Princess. Overall, I was left a little underwhelmed but still had a wonderfully relaxing time. Princess must have taken onboard the poor quality of the hired entertainers on the previous cruises from Southampton. In reality, it may not be a Princess decision and could have been on recommendations by the Cruise Director. On the ...

Nice, but not great, on Grand Princess

This was our second Princess cruise, the first being on Caribbean Princess, Southern Caribbean B2B in March 2011 and our eighth cruise in total. I was travelling with my civil partner and we are a male couple in our 40s. We chose this cruise purely for the departure date, as due to the additional UK bank holiday for the Jubilee, we had only to take 3 days off work. Living within an hour of ...

Having last sailed on the Grand in Dec.2001 we were curious to see how the ship had been refurbished. The public rooms looked impressive but clearly our cabin had not been updated. Embarkation was smooth and efficient. Staff were friendly and whole process took less than 30 minutes. The cabin was smaller than expected and a little tired looking and surprisingly the carpet was badly stained. The ...

One of the Best!

One of the Best! This was a "last minute booking" cruise - as we had just sailed 28 days on the Grand in April/May and had just gotten home when we saw a flash promotion that we just could not pass up. This was our 57th cruise on Princess, and 14th on the Grand. It was a cruise that was high on our bucket list and it turned out to be one of the best! Embarkation We used Princess EzAir, ...

Demographics: About 90% from the UK and about 95% retired, which surprised me a little -- surely some people in the UK take their holidays in June? Ship: The Grand Princess has some nice features that disappeared in her later siblings, for example some small mezzanine areas between the promenade deck and its extension around the Emerald deck at the bow that are protected and good places to ...
