My husband and I have just returned from a 20 night cruise on MSC Lirica. We are both senior citizens and this was the fourth cruise we have taken with MSC. Embarkation in Genoa was quick and efficient and we found the ship to be elegant, well looked after and comfortable. We found all the staff very pleasant, helpful and courteous. Our inside cabin was quite roomy and comfortable and well ...

My wife and I chose MSCs 20 day 'Grand Voyage' from Genoa to Rio de Janeiro, leaving 04/11. We prefer sea-time over port-time and this had an exotic itinerary. This was the ship's first voyage after it's 27m 'stretch' and much refurbishing of public areas. We understood this was a 40 day operation which is an outstanding achievement. Our impressions were fully positive about the results of this ...

Stretched Lirica Genoa to Rio

The first voyage of the stretched Lirica (251 to 275 m), Genoa to Rio. The ship wasn't full, but busy nonetheless, and dread the feeding arrangements if it was full. Overall the ship was clean and well-maintained, the food good although some economies were evident (compared to previous MSC cruises). The buffet was best avoided (crowded during meal times); we used the waiter served restaurants ...

The embarkation was well organised and the Mini Suite was in line with most other cruise lines Balcony cabins. Good clean furnishings and attentive cabin staff, plus fresh fruit and chocolates on arrival. Cabin was on Starboard side past midships and closer to bow. There was more than ample storage space for a nearly three week cruise. Bathroom was shower bath combo and was roomy, Cabin was ...

First, the positives. The ship was spotless and remained so throughout a long cruise. We arrived at every port exactly on time and in an excellent and convenient location. Embarkations were easy and well handled. The crew and staff were, for the most part, polite and accommodating. All of this was enhanced by terrific weather, including the five days spent crossing the Atlantic. Now the ...

This cruise appealed to us because of its unique ports of call, which exceeded expectations. We commenced and ended our journey with a tour of Northern Italy. We spent 3 nights in historic Genoa, at Hotel Soana, centrally located near the Oriental Market. Prior to embarkation, we took the lift to Spianata di Castello, which is the best lookout in the city, with panoramic views of the old town, ...

We arrived in Genoa the night before the cruise and stayed at the Best Western, we had been in Geneva visiting family and took the train to Genoa so that we arrived quite late and very tired which was too bad as Genoa would have been a lovely city to discover. We cabbed it to the port at noon and were on board and in our wonderful stateroom by 1:00 pm. This was all very efficient and smoothly ...

This was my 7th cruise and the worse ship I've ever been on. The only good thing I can say about this cruise was it was spotless. The food was very poor. The dining room service was not geared for Americans. Infact I felt that Americans as a whole were treated very poorly even in the shops. My bill was incorrect. It took me two days to have it corrected. If anyone is thinking of taking a ...

The lirica is a beautiful ship. Decorated like a 4 star hotel, plenty of marble, brass and glass. The ship is kept in pristine condition. The outside decks were powerwashed each morning which caused the early deck walkers to tired on wet decks. Moving the power wash back one hour from 5:30 AM would help. Now I must mention a few negatives. On our voyage The European Union made up the majority of ...

We are long time cruisers, having traveled the best of all cruise lines. This was our first cruise aboard MSC. Here are our comments: Considering the fact that one is in environment of 2,000+ passengers, overall, we have to say the cruise was fairly good. Let me say at the onset, we are very demanding passengers. We know good food, good service and good accommodations. Accordingly, if one expects ...
