Good Itinerary.
Unfortunately, as usual, many whinging & moaning passengers on this good value for money cruise.
Our only complaints were related to the slow embarkation in Genoa and lack of satellite TV reception while cruising the Indian Ocean.
The ships passengers were multi-national with Australians, British, Germans, Swiss, Italians, French, South Africans etc etc. Public ...
MSC is one of my favourite cruises lines and I love their ships, particularly the Poesia, Divina, Magnifica and Preziosa. There seems to be a lot of negative comments on many of the reviews of MSC, mostly to do with food, staff and other guests and the different languages - well in all the 25 cruises I have been on (11 of which on MSC) I have always found the MSC food to be good and varied, the ...
We were pleasantly surprised since we had read negative reviews prior to our trip about the cruise ship. Embarkation was a breeze and very organized in Genoa, Italy. We arrived in Genoa a few days prior to embarkation and stayed within walking distance to the port. Ports of calls were excellent, Genoa, Barcelona, Casablanca, Tenerife, Medeira, Malaga, and Rome. The disembarkation in ...
The interior decor of the ship is very pleasant and welcoming. the inside cabin was spacious, clean and homely, the restaurants were well run with friendly attentive staff. There was a good choice of diferent themed bars with competant agreeable waiters/waitresses, there is also a vast selection of drinks including some of the best cocktail's and martini's that you could desire. The entertainment ...
Seen one MSC Fantasy class ship seen them all (we had previously been on Magnifica), BUT despite similarities they do have unique touches.
The nightly theatre entertainment was good (not stunning or amazing) - but certainly enjoyable and a nice touch to each night (shows lasting 30 - 45 minutes - well by the time you take the 5 language translations out less actual SHOWTIME...) :-)
The mix ...
My wife and I (56, 54) were the travelers and this was our 9th cruise but first in the Mediterranean. We have been on Princess, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Celebrity and Norwegian cruise lines. We think we have a pretty well rounded view of the cruise industry. We have done 6 Caribbean, 1 Bermuda and 1 Bahamas cruise. We flew in from the Colorado, USA 3 days before and went to Venice. This ...
My wife and I are regular cruiser and booked this cruise to experience a new style very large ship.
On arrival at Genoa check-in was chaotic but nevertheless we got from arrival to ship in less than 30 minutes. Information was limited and hard to find.
We had booked cabin 10118 which was available from 2pm. The cabin was large and very clean. It had a superking sized bed, a three seater ...
I'd hate to see Americans skip this cruise ship and itinerary based on the mixed reviews so here is mine. Our main goal was to have our two teens exposed to new people, food, cultures and customs and to stay interested in their French and Spanish classes in school. We achieved that and way more with memories for a lifetime!
Easy embarkation in Genoa - no line, breezed right through since we ...
This was the second of two back-to-back cruises (Fantasia/Splendida) as a solo traveller. The nice surprise at check-in was an upgrade to the Yacht Club. ( since I had paid full double rates for both cruises, it certainly would not have cost the company but never the less, it was very nice).
The biggest advantage was it was so much less crowded but the service levels, food and wine were also a ...
We booked this trip because of its interesting itinerary, 3 nights in Genoa, followed by the cruise and ending with 3 nights in Cape Town. Previous reports of the ship were not very encouraging. Embarkation was a terrible start as it took 2 hours as previous reviewers have said. Surely it could have been handled better. However, once on board we were delighted to find the ship gleaming, elegant ...
