I got on the discovery 2 at Corfu and got of there as well. I was on the ship for a week and the destinations are lovely Santorini and Rhodes have to be my favourite. The cruise is really good the activity's for kids are a climbing wall a mini golf 9 holes 2 swimming pools one inside and one outside also there is a games room called hideout for the children to chill out and play on the Xbox and the football table. The entertainment is fantastic with 4 different venues to choose from and they have a casino. the bars were clean and sold a verity of alcohols from shots to beer to cocktails. the crew are so friendly saying hello and always ready to help really good custom. The sail away party was absolutely fantastic with live performances from DJ Tomas and a band that I cant remember there name and a flag parade to see were parts of the crew come from. definitely arrange with TUI they are stars amazing job Read Less

It was with some trepidation that I booked for this, the first cruise that we have ever taken. Having heard numerous stories of the decks on board in chaos from Zimmer frame traffic jams and drunken oafs staggering around trying to get their money's worth of free booze, I was concerned. On op of it all, I was also apprehensive how we,a gay couple from the dark continent, would fare amongst the "Bush generation" of Americans who dominated the numbers of guests aboard. All of our fears and apprehensions soon dissolved virtually from the moment we set eyes on the yacht from the Piraeus port in Athens. From the greeting at the port, the embarkation process, meeting the crew, to entering the wonderfully air conditioned reception of the ship for the first time, we felt special and welcome aboard. Although the ship carries about 140 people, we never felt as if we were jostling for space or a preferred spot, there is more than enough room for everyone to feel very much as if this were their own private yacht. The food was simply exceptional - every meal was a master class, the chefs obviously taking great pride in their culinary creations. The service was outstanding - by the end of day 1 all the crew knew our names and I couldn't help but feel that they actually enjoyed being at our service. What I particularly enjoyed was the drama every evening at "sail away" time....when we left our port in the evenings, everyone on deck with a cocktail of sorts, music from "the mission" washing over us and the sails unfurling in an attempt at sailing (wind dependent). It was spectacular! Once the sun had finally set each evening its off to dinner, relaxing, unassuming and delicious. And best of all......wake up the next morning in a new port or at a new island, ready to explore for the day. So I guess you can gather that the cruise was terrific for us, all misgivings gone, beautiful memories remain and the next cruise in the planning phase. Read Less

Our Cabin was great but our attendant was just barely marginal. He barely showed any interest in our experience aboard. He was even barely capable of faking the little interest he showed. I know that service is a difficult industry and that it is hard to care but I think it is possible at least to be convincing, even if you must fake it. Our cabin was aft the benefit to the aft Jr. Suite is the size of the balcony. The balcony is a key point for me I love to sit read and relax with a nice cigar. The cabins were very well appointed for an older vessel. We were very comfortable. The beds as always were evil creatures that sucked you a=in and did not wish to let you go. We had a rougher voyage than we are used to but despite that the aft cabin had no more movement than any other cabin we have had. We did get a constant almost vibration that was barely noticeable, you could se it in your coffee cup or in my case the martini. You did get a lot more motion from swells but this was again not an issue except when we had rough seas.Apparently balcony smoking will be a thing of the past starting the first of the year. Personally this will influence me a great deal I may have to consider a return to Carnival. Carnival made the change as well then realized the mistake and returned to smoking. This is the smallest vessel I have cruised on and I thought that it seemed a bit crowded. The smaller number of people aboard did not matter the smaller space just packed you together more. Our overall experience with the crew was one of ‘limited interest in the passenger’; it was not just isolated to our cabin steward. We were cruising on the final leg of the crew’s contract time, it would explain being drained of energy, it would not let them off the hook for at least faking it though. The food was a real disappointment though, many dishes were bland and tasteless in particular the sups were a huge disappointment. I can honestly say that of the soup I had every night the only one that tasted marginally good was the Duck Consume. One of my favorites on every cruise before was the Cream of Wild Mushroom, this time though I would have been happy to have a bowel of Campbell’s instead. One desert though stood out the Lemon Tart was spectacular but every other was also a bland disappointment.   Read Less

Over the past 40 years I have traveled on a wide range of cruise ships....this being the worst cruise ship experience of my life...and for the money, most of my fellow passengers felt as though we had been "had" or cleverly duped by Paul Gauguin Cruises. I love to meet new people on cruises so I would try to sit at different people during meal times. By the end of the cruise all of the people I traveled with and met on the cruise (around 30) either wrote letters of complaint or returned ship surveys complaining. In return we received cookie-cutter letters telling us that there were only three letters of complaint and that most of the people on the cruise sent letters praising the cruise. From the first day, we felt there was something terribly wrong. Two of the staff even hinted that they were not entirely prepared to sail. The cruise director, officers, and staff were not professionally trained as seen in their social interactions communications, and dress. The two people I had knew on board and I felt uncertain and a bit uncomfortable at times especially when we saw some staff maintenance members rushing about at sea, as if there was an emergency. The food was awful! If it didn't taste like it came out of a can, it was stale or improperly cooked. A few years a go I was forced to eat at Denny's because I was stuck in a small town. That's how I felt on the Terre Moana....I was stuck on this ship and forced to eat the tough meat, cold soups, wilted salads, and stale breads until I got into port to have a decent meal. I don't think there was a professionally trained chef on board! Actually the food at Denny's was better. The entertainment was a HUGE disaster, so much so that it actually made most people feel very uncomfortable. After the second night most people did not show up for evening entertainment. I can go on and on how bad this experience was but it is too upsetting to continue. I am going to do everything I can to get the word out that this company Paul Gauguin is irresponsible and operates totally out of the realms of integrity!!! Most of the passengers on the cruise were professional/educated who flew across the world to take tis cruise and do not intend to let Paul Gauguin get away with this. The only consolation was the itinerary along Croatia. Phil   Read Less
