So my wife and I decided to take a 7 day cruise to Belize, Roatan and Cozumel for a delayed honeymoon for the summer of 2014 (I can't recall the exact date but it was before June of last year). I heard Royal Caribbean was a more upscale cruise line as compared to Carnival so we went with the Mariner with the Seas. It was recently renovated and it showed. Arrival and embarkation was a breeze. Our ...
We just returned from our Royal Caribbean cruise on Mariner of the Seas. It is our understanding that Mariner will be leaving Galveston and going to Asia in two weeks and Navigator will be replacing it in Galveston. This is going to be a good change, and there are so many things that are alike on both ships, that there will still be the same care and concern for its passengers.
We drove in ...
We drove down from West, Texas on Saturday and stayed at the Super 8 in Kemah and would not recommend that hotel at all. While we were out for dinner someone came into our room and used our bathroom and the front desk would do nothing about it also our dead bolt would not work. We had to stack our suitcases in front of the door just for a little protection, but enough about that.
We arrived at ...
Well, we entered the Port of Galveston on Sunday, April 7, 2013 to an episode of what can only be defined as CHAOS. Disorganized, people scrambling, long lines, no sense of any real organization (foot traffic or vehicle traffic) other than a lot of people barking orders and no one really knowing what the heck was going on. Our luggage was taken quickly, but as we were waiting in what seemed like ...
Embarkation- Computers broke down during the middle of embarkation, it would have been nice for them to keep us updated other than that the line moved very quickly.
Cabin- Perfect. I like sleeping in cold, dark, and quiet which makes an interior stateroom perfect for me. Our room steward was excellent although not very personable. I loved the towel animals and he even made me a few when it ...
We left out of Galveston, not too bad getting on board once we got through the line for security. We were in a JS so got to move to front of line to receive sea pass. Got on board and found our cabins. Met our stateroom attendant immediately. Willy was very helpful and answered all our questions. He was always available and attentive to our needs.
Ate all evening meals in the MDR. Our waiter ...
We drove to Galveston and stayed at the Hilton Galveston Island, arranged through RCCL. Hotel was rather expensive, but it was a last minute trip and spring break. They let us park for the week at a sister property.
Embarkation: we took a shuttle to the port rather late, at 1330. The nice part was we had virtually no lines and had priority check in. When we got on the ship our cabin was ready. ...
We enjoyed our spring break cruise out of Galveston. We spent the night before at the Hampton Inn in League City and visited Kemah Boardwalk right down the road. It took only 30 minutes to the port and 1 minute to check in at Lighthouse parking. Baggage dropoff was disorganized, but it didn't take too long for boarding at 12:00 although it seemed like a long line. We previously cruised on ...
THE GOOD Embarkation: This was a breeze. We parked at the Park N Cruise outdoor lot across the street from the cruise terminals. We love to be able to roll our luggage right from the parking lot directly to the cruise terminal. No shuttle bus needed, and it is a short stroll to the ship both coming and going.
Luggage drop off was chaotic but manageable. We used the Platinum line, but ...
Traveled on Mariner last week of March, Spring Break week; me and the hubby, our 14 year old son, and our best friends. Flew into Houston Hobby and stayed overnight near airport. Springhill Suites has great free shuttle service and is a very nice hotel for the price. The RCCL shuttle is also very nice. We were very pleased with our transportation and the friendliness of the drivers. Arrived ...
