Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Navigator of the Seas

So now that I've been off the ship for almost 2 weeks, I figured this would be a good time to "share" my experiences with you. This cruise was for my mother who is fighting cancer and was meant to be a relaxing cruise for her to enjoy and keep her mind off the fight of her life. We flew into Houston International and had booked transfers through RCCL. According to my paperwork, the bus was ...

Arrived at Bush Int'l in Houston and had reserved a car to take us to the port. We didn't want to wait for a bus to fill up to get going. We used ExecuCar and it was as expected. Getting to the cruise terminal once you are in the port area is a big pain - a lot of traffic and not very organized. I don't think we will bother with this port again (after the ease of Fort Lauderdale and Miami ...

Nice Cruise with a Terrible Shore Excursion

This was my 58th cruise and 13th RCCL cruise and 2nd cruise on Navigator ( also did last April) both times in a Grand Suite. We flew in from Dallas to Houston/hobby the night before and stayed at the Doubletree Hobby which is a very nice hotel with a decent restaurant and nice bar/lounge. Getting on the ship was ok waited about 20 mins to get through security ( arrived at 11:45) and needed ...

Nice Ship, Nice Crew

This was my 4th cruise on the Navigator, my 13th cruise with RCCL ships, and my 1st cruise as a Diamond member. Overall this was a pleasant cruise, a big improvement over last year. The ship was clean and the crew was great. We had a balcony cabin on the hump, Deck 8. Great location near the stairs and elevators. EMBARKATION What a cluster. Terminal 2 is woefully inadequate due to ...

Ship was great, excursions less so

This was my first cruise, so I don't have a point of comparison other than what I have read here. But my overall impression was good. Galveston is unfortunately pretty far from the nearest airport, so if you are not driving in, you will have to work out how to get to port. We ended up flying into Bush a day early. We stayed the night at the Country Inn and Suites by Carlson. It has a shuttle from ...

Fun Vacation!

RCCL's Navigator has something for everyone! The activities are plentiful and non-stop, with lots of choices! We loved the sports deck, the music trivia, the ice skating show, karaoke and the Beatlemania performance! We enjoyed the poolside band, "Ridden Wave" and the games. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The main dining room was very good, with great service(love Errol & Andre). ...

Good food, service and activities on ship, ports less so.

The food was quite good, particularly the chef's suggestions, service was outstanding, and enjoyed activities such as the Flowrider, rock climbing, the theater, pools/hot tubs, etc. Watching the sunsets in the Cosmopolitan Club on the 14th deck was a special treat. Ports, however, left something to be desired. First port at Falmouth was disappointing. Royal Caribbean built a harbor there to ...

Routine and Mass Market, but Very Good as always

Don't get me wrong.....I am a fan of RCCL. They always provide a very good combo of value and satisfaction. The short 7 day itineraries out of Galveston are, IMO, the best option for the first time/ occasional cruisers and/or young families. The crowd is generally local, within a 300-500 mile radius and very happy, sometimes taking "casual" to new limits. For the more experienced traveler these ...

Awesome Spring Break!

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Navigator of the Seas

I'll keep this short since I really don't have a comparison point. My family had a great time on the Navigator. It was Spring Break for my school aged kids, so there were lots of families on the boat. This was great as my kids were easily able to find other kids to hang with either in Adventure Ocean or at the Arcade/Sports Court. My kids loved getting to be on a nice vacation with us and ...

My first ever cruise on a big ship

As a new cruiser, I have only small river barges as comparison, but I loved this trip on the Navigator! The crew, every one I encountered, were wonderful, professional and friendly. Dias, our Steward, couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. He knew right away I didn't like to get up early. I thought the food was very good considering the number of passengers and crew. I wish they didn't ...
