2 ships. 2 cruises taken a year apart (Carnival June 2014 & RCI 2015). Same port (Galveston). Same destinations (Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica). Both family vacations with children ranging from elementary age to college age.
Cabins: Navigator of the Seas had slightly more spacious cabins (balcony). Nothing huge, but noticeable.
Main Dining Sitting: Carnival Magic had a more lively ...
I have cruised 3 times with Royal Caribbean and was really looking forward to a wonderful experience.
We have cruised with Carnival and Princess several times and thought maybe this would be equal.
But it was not. The first disappointment was the service in our room. We rarely saw our room attendant, but she did clean well. There was no welcoming towel animal or turndown mint at night.
We had 2 ...
We are 2 seniors and we have just returned from our first cruise. The ship is beautiful and the service was excellent. What was very disappointing was the lack of entertainment during the day. We were expecting there to be bars/lounges with live entertainment during the day. Caribbean, blues, western or jazz music would have been nice. They did have a lonely guitar player that sounded as if he ...
First, like I usually do, I book a motel a day before the cruise (just to insure no timing problems). So I booked this cruise from Galveston and then a motel there. Then air from San Diego to Houston, and thinking I would just rent a car at the airport and drop it off on the island, go on the cruise and rend another car when we returned and visit my cousin in Katy then fly home. Problem:
You can ...
One is never too old to learn new life lessons. Our trip to the Caribbean on Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas in December 2014 was another brutal reminder of that. Loved the boat, liked the crew, food was just OK, logistics were poor, entertainment was a mixed bag…mostly focused on a younger demographic.
Most readers are probably more interested in the ship, the service, the food, the ...
RCCL is cutting corners everywhere they can. I guess it is so they can pay for their new mega ships. The entertainment was not up to par compared to other of the 19 cruises we have been on. The food service was not as great as in the past and the food temperature varied. We had to send several dishes back for reheating.
One of the major disappointments was the elimination of the guest talent ...
my husband and two children (ages 6 &9) sailed on a 7 night cruise out of Galveston November 2-9, 2014. we have cruised 4 times previously with Disney, but it was our first time with RCI. we had 3 other families with children traveling with us for our kids' school fall break, all of whom had cruised several times before with other cruise lines.
i read cruise critic quite often, and we picked this ...
1.Change your food menu in the promenade deck. The same old sandwiches and same desserts get old when your on a 7 day cruise. This also goes for your food in the Windjammer. You could tell they were cutting corners how some of the main entrees and desserts were prepared. I sailed on Voyager back in 2010 and that was the best cruise all around.
2.Your service is good in some area and poor in ...
We arrived at the Port of Galveston in plenty of time to be greeted by piles of suitcases and bewildered passengers with no guidance from staff. Took over an hour to get to the front desk to check in and the check in staff had no idea what to do with our residence cards or UK ESTA travel documents, finally after 20 mins we got our Sea Pass cards and headed to the ship.
I was told by several ...
When we got caught in the total chaos of the boarding process in Galveston we should have known there would be problems on the cruise. When we finally got to our cabin and needed to talk to our cabin steward we were told the stewards were not on duty until 5 p.m. After 36 cruises on other cruise lines this was unbelievable. The steward and the general service staff on the ship were very pleasant ...
