First time cruiser, left Galveston 10/30/11.
Have heard all my life how 'wonderful' food is on a cruise.
Wonderful is not a synonym for 'abundant' and 'constant' and 'inedible'. I know because I looked it up.
I am not a picky eater. Food was mediocre or gross. Food was either fried, cold, or both, but mostly cold. I must say the fruits and veggies were generally fresh and I did have ...
embarkation was fast and easy, no problems. Was on ship within 30 minutes of arriving. Got a soda card for my daughter, what a rip off. $44 for unlimited soda. She drank 3 or 4 a day and they use cans but do not give you the can. We could have brought a case of cokes for $8.
Food was mediocre. Did not care for the new menus. If you like steak you can forget about getting one unless you ...
We enjoyed parking at the Lighthouse Parking lot in Galveston. Covered spaces with transport of luggage in the van with us to the terminal. Porters were readily available and we had bags checked and were in line by 11:30. Embarkation was not a problem for us since we are Platinum Club members. However, the lines were very long for those having to wait in line. We were on Lido deck for lunch by ...
We were traveling with 4 people in our room, all adults, one oceanview cabin on Riveria. My husband and I as well as my IN-laws.Our ship sailed full so there were a lot of people onboard. This was my 6th Carnival cruise. I am going ot break it down by category to make it eassier.
Food- The food on the lido deck was decent. Some days were better than others but it was never exceptional and ...
Departed on Conquest Oct. 16th. Embarkation very smooth. On ship by 1145am.
Our cabin was ready at 130pm. Sailed with grandchildren on fall break.
The ship is worn in places. The crew are always smiling and pleasant.
We had open seating for dinner in the Renoir dining room. Ate in the dining room on the second cruise night-food was cold. I sent it back and still it was cold and I never received ...
First cruise!! Will NOT be our last!! This forum, the lists of things to bring, and reviews of excursions was SOOOOOOO helpful!! I'll start from the beginning.
GALVESTON PORT: NO ONE had mentioned how to get into the parking lot at the pier, and the front gate had "no entry" on it. We incorrectly thought maybe it was closed on Sunday or something :/ So we went to our covered parking spot, and ...
This is a review of our October 2-9, 2011 cruise aboard the Carnival Conquest, roundtrip from Galveston, TX to the Western Caribbean. We are Josie & Al, semi-retired Realtors from Houston. The cruise was our ninth together in just over four years, my first with Carnival in about a decade. Weve sailed primarily with Princess and Royal Caribbean, the former being our cruise line of choice. This ...
We were not expecting much. We had a late, crowded embarkation (due to someone jumping overboard on the previous cruise...did they dislike it THAT MUCH ?) The inside room was nice.. and the cruise started to get good. Perhaps I will just list the good and the bad:
Good:
Service. We did Anytime Dining. Never waited longer than 2 minutes for seating. Service was MUCH FASTER than other cruise ...
This is my 6th cruise and first on Carnival. We chose this cruise because either the wife or I had been to Jamaica or the Cayman Islands, and a good price coupled with a Galveston departure (no plane connections) made it a good value.
We had heard rumors of the excessive party atmosphere on Carnival ships, so we planned the trip after school resumed to reduce the risk. Unfortunately, that is ...
This was our first time to cruise Carnival Cruise Lines in quite a long time (maybe 10 years). We were surprised to find out we had qualified to become platinum cruisers (with 11 cruises in our history). We sailed out of Galveston because we live in the Houston, TX area and this was very convenient and cost effective for us. We received an email to let us know that the ship was coming in late ...
