I've cruised with Crystal, Princess, Norwegian, and Holland America, and without a doubt, my experience with MSC is the worst. We chose this cruise because as a retired couple it seemed like a new adventure to get back to the US. Embarcation took 1 hour and 10 minutes. The ship is a cross between Las Vegas and Star Trek. This was my first and probably last MSC cruise.
It's a pity because the ship itself has some good points and the ports of call were fantastic.
We picked the ship up in Southampton along with what it turns out a lot of new crew who took a couple of days to come to terms with things.
