This was our first cruise with Silversea. Our overall impression was that the vessel, service and other offerings justified the premium price paid. Silver Shadow is an older cruise ship but it was in superb condition and very clean. With a passenger capacity of 360, its smaller size did not diminish its ability to cope with those few days when the weather turned a little rough.
This was an ...
We have enjoyed 37 cruises, but this was our first time on Silversea. We were eager to test drive, and there were no disappointments. The stand-out was the food, quality and variety. We kept telling ourselves, "This is NOT cruise ship food." It was more like going to a very good restaurant on land. Inventive quality cooking. Also great were all the bars (and there are a lot of them!) and the ...
Choose cruise because the iteniary was interesting with stops in NYC, Newfoundland and Ireland.
Ship is very lovely but the food services are TERRIBLE. The food preparation, service (never hot in serving temperature), quality and selection of food venues is the worst of any of my over 1000 sailing days on various lines. Basically only 2 inside restaurant choices for lunch daily. Both serving ...
The ship is gorgeous, the staff is supreme, the food is wonderful.
Our only criticism is regarding activities and entertainment.
The highlight of every afternoon was Bingo and team Trivia. Not our idea of exciting and unique entertainment.
There was also only a limited amount of board games on the ship.
Throughout the 16 day cruise, food service was very slow, but the food quality was ...
I chose the ship based on the itinerary and past experience with Silver Sea. The food and service on board were fantastic. There is a great variety of restaurants and activities. The entertainers were exceptional. I didn't care for the violinist or flautist. It would have been nicer to have a comedian or magician or something along those lines. Most of the people slept through the concert. ...
We are long term fans of Silversea and wanted a relaxing cruise with plenty of days at sea. The service was excellent form the butler and room attendant to the restaurant crew, bar crew and executive staff.
This was our first cruise on the Spirit having sailed on the Wind, the Cloud, and the Shadow and we did not know what to expect as far as a larger ship. We were very pleased that there ...
This was our first Silversea cruise. We have done many others to include Seabourn, Paul Gaugin, Windstar, as well as the larger ships. Altogether probably 20-25 cruises total.
The Spirit is a vey clean, well maintained, and comfortable ship. About the right size in my opinion, but then, it was probably 60% capacity for the crossing. The suite was quite nice with the common comment of the ...
Simply put: Way over priced for the value received. The service was OUTSTANDING. The wait staff and bar staff were superior. The food was mediocre and too eclectic for our taste. Italian offerings were named right but over-presented. It is not a ship to trans-Atlantic on. Sea days were boring. The weather did not cooperate. We were disappointed that there was no "Plan B" for missing the ...
This was my first and probably last transatlantic cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA to Lisbon Portugal. I enjoyed this first time experience but the large number of sea days was overwhelming so I am not sure I would do it again. No fault of Silversea, the weather for the middle part of the cruise was dreary, raining and a little choppy. As a first time transatlantic cruiser I did my ...
Firstly, although we have many days on SS this was our first TA. Now, bear in mind that we love sea days and often stay aboard at destinations, we were never going to be fazed by over a week's worth of sea days between Bermuda and Portugal and were secretly quite pleased that a storm North of our route kept us well South of the intended Azores stop.
We boarded just after noon and took ...
