Mariner Trans-Atlantic Spring 2012

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

My husband and I did this cruise partly because we love trans-Atlantic cruises with their wonderful sea days and partly to celebrate my 70th birthday. For the latter reason we had a Seven Seas Aft suite on Deck 9. We flew from Switzerland to Florida via Dublin on Aer Lingus as they provide an adequate Business Class service and a one way fare which was very attractive. Boarding: Regent is ...

All Inclusive ... But Not Luxury

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

We recently returned from a 12-day Caribbean cruise aboard Regent Mariner. We keenly anticipated it, after more than 30 cruises on premium lines including HAL, Oceania and Azamara. We've also been on small expedition ships in remote corners of the world, which were exciting but not luxurious! Our only luxury cruise was on Paul Gauguin earlier this year and we enjoyed it very much. So we were ...

The bloom is NOT off the rose!

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

My 2nd voyage on the Mariner left me with some mixed impressions. In some ways, things were even better than they were the first time (and that's saying a lot since I was immensely pleased by my first experience); in other ways there was a very noticeable decline. Embarkation was speedy but we were not escorted to the pool deck, told about lunch options, etc.; perhaps they only do that for ...

PRE-CRUISE FLIGHTS: Flying anywhere in the middle of winter has its challenges. We decided to do an overnight flight from Seattle to Miami that was scheduled to arrive 7:00 a.m. on the day of departure. The snow in Seattle had just melted, however we did not count on fog in Miami. After spending 4 hours on the ground in Orlando, we were finally able to fly to Miami. In retrospect, it would have ...

A Delightful Crossing

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

First a caveat on this review: We are not generally cruise enthusiasts, have only cruised twice previously, and generally prefer other means of travel and vacationing. We are however, very well traveled and been privileged to enjoy many first class and 'starred' restaurants, resorts, and other accommodations in many parts of the US and around the world. We chose this cruise because of the ...

Grand Crossing & Spanish Treasures

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

We have been sailing on various cruise lines the last five years in an attempt to discover a favorite. We have not completed our "experiment" but believe we have found it. Our voyage on the Seven Seas Mariner exceeded our expectations by a wide margin. I'm definitely not a cheerleader personality but it's difficult not to be enthused about our recent experience. We have sailed on other Premium ...

Steady Decline in Overall Experience

Review for a South America Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

We enjoy cruising (1 or 2 per year) and usually book one of the premium lines. Until recently Regent was our favorite but the bloom is now off the rose. Overall service and particularly dining service and quality has slipped very noticeably. We have experienced such on our last two Regent cruises. Our most recent cruise was on the Mariner last month from Fort Lauderdale to Lima, Peru. The ...

Dramatic decline in service and food quality on Mariner

Review for a South America Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

We sailed on the Mariner January 4 from Ft. Lauderdale to Lima. A year earlier we had sailed on the Mariner from Auckland to Los Angeles. We were extremely impressed with all aspects of the ship; especially the quality of the food and service in the dining room and the friendliness and positive attitudes of all staff. A year later it was like a totally different ship. The staff were not friendly ...

The Mariner is Magnifcent

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

User Avatar

The Mariner is a beautiful ship and fresh out of dry dock she boasts all brand new seating, carpeting, curtains, bed linens, etc. The thickly padded pool deck lounge chairs are quite possibly the comfiest at sea and I found myself falling asleep more than once while basking in the poolside sun. Of course, that could also have been the cause of late night activities because while the Regent ...

It just didn't work for us . . .

I suspect there will always be the Regent vs. Crystal crowd so we'll join the fray. We have sailed Crystal three times but heard such good things about the Regent series that we decided to give it a try. We tried this Caribbean cruise for its themed cruse. Here are our impressions. Crew: aboard Crystal the crew worked to get your name from the very first day, here aboard the Mariner it was ...
