TEN DAYS ON THE RUBY PRINCESS

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Ruby Princess

First, the ship. She's a grand dame with elegance and charm, and the Medallion electronics are awesome. Wearing the little coin makes you recognizable to your stateroom door, which unlocks as you approach. It also tells your traveling party as well as servers where on the ship you are, and can even draw a map to find you. There are many more Medallion features which you can look up on your ...

Good Itinerary, average food and entertainment...

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Ruby Princess

We enjoyed the itinerary or ports of call visited. Cartagena and going through the Panama Canal were the highlights. I would suggest that the descriptions of the excursions include how long the bus rides are. We spent 3 hours in a bus going to the Rain forest in Costa Rica and saw only birds and lizards/frogs at the destination. We did see monkeys and a sloth during the ride there. The ...

Nightmare at sea

I have cruised many times, and this was my first and LAST Princess cruise. The ship was filthy, mold everywhere including in the toilet in our cabin. Service was non-existent, food was mediocre on a good day. Reservations were not honored, so we mainly ate pizza and soft serve ice cream for 10 days. Buckets were in hallways catching drips, auto doors slammed open and shut all day. Talent was ...

Turkey Day Holiday on the Ruby Princess

Much needed break for the holiday. Embarkation at Port Everglades was pretty smooth-20 minutes from Arrival to on the ship. The Ruby had just been fixed up in dry dock. She looks good for a 2008 Grand girl. It was really good to be back at sea. We used the Princess Plus package which was a nice option for trying drinks, I normally wouldn't have ordered. The package includes specialty ...

We cruised from Ft. Lauderdale to Panama Canal and back to Ft. Lauderdale. The embarkation was very easy and smooth. No complaints about that. We had stops in Montego Bay, Cartagena, Limon and Grand Cayman. We could have skipped Montego Bay and Cartagena. The guide on the excursion in Montego Bay just spoke about the poverty on the island. Not what we were looking for. Cartagena excursion ...

Fantastic Staff on board the Ruby Princess

We had sailed on the Ruby the previous October so we were in a position to make some comparisons on changes Princess have made. First thing to say are that the staff are incredible. Everyone greets you with a beaming smile and treats you as if you are their only customer. Special mention to the two bartenders in Explorer lounge Val and Christian, Derek and the Phillipino trio in Vines, and ...

Not The Way It Used To Be

We have sailed on many cruises and took this one because it has been a goal to see the Panama Canal and this one ended in San Francisco, an hour from home. From our first day on board it was clear that Princess has made cutbacks in all aspects of their operations. Limited cabin service, worn and or dirty cabin and balcony furniture, reduced options, quality and portions of food, limited ...

We very much enjoyed the Panama Canal cruise. The MDR was good. The service was excellent. We enjoyed great bar service everywhere onboard. The entertainment was outstanding. The pools were great and full of people! Great music. We used both Sabatini's and Crown Grill. Both had wonderful service and great food. Reservations were very easy with the medallion. There was an outbreak of ...

My parents had planned a Panama Canal cruise shortly before they died ... at 68 years young ... so at 73, I fulfilled their dream. I needed a chance to get out of the house and out of all my obligations and thought a 15-day cruise with lots of days at sea would fill the bill and it did! The Princess crew is fantastic and the food divine. Small portions and my commitment to getting in 7000 steps a ...

Worst cruise ever on Princess

Have done 30 Princess Cruises and we are Elites. This is by far the WORST EVER cruise we have taken. Masks became a recommendation in Fort Lauderdale. Far to soon and KN95 masks still should have been a REQUIRMENT at this time. Needless to say there a huge outbreak of Covid ensued and despite being fully vaccinated and boosted developed Covid and my husband and I never saw each other again until ...
