We felt the food quality was down from the last Princess cruise. The one night they had steak, it was not edible. The shows were very crowded! The drink prices were far too expensive! 11.00 for the least expensive glass of wine--ridiculous. We felt the iced tea was not good--it had an odd flavor. Positive note--our cabin steward was very efficient! The casino has a section for smoking, well, that is like have a peeing section in a swimming pool! Way too much smoke! I did feel the shows were very professional and enjoyable. Another positive note, boarding was orderly and fast. Disembarkation was smooth and orderly, however, we returned to a dock blocks away from our departure dock where our car was parked. We were not told the proximity of our arrival location to the departure location. Nor, were we told that transportation was available to return us to our parking location. Read Less

I have been on many other cruise lines, but wanted to give Princess a try because of their "higher class reputation". The customer service was awful! We would acknowledge staff with "good morning","hi" etc., and rarely heard any comments back. We would just get an awkward stare back. Hardly saw any staff smiling or speaking with passengers. Ordering drinks from the bar was a horrid experience I felt like we were putting them out with the disgusted looks we would get. Again, I have been other cruise lines and none have compared to the bitterness we saw with the staff on Princess. We felt like we were needing to be congenial to them. One positive thing with the cruise was their food. The two formal nights we were served with high quality food. The chefs do an outstanding job. Management really needs to dig deep and find out why their employees dislike their jobs. You are going to continue losing business because of the lack of positive customer service. I suggest traveling on another cruise line to see what customer service should be like. Read Less

My Son and daughter in-law worked for Princess Cruises in Alaska and tried this cruise line. The Cruise Ship was very clean! Stateroom was clean and service was excellent! The food started out to be above average but during the week at best turned to average. This is not a cruise for Country Western Music or Sports Fans. There was no country music or sports bar. The casino was above average, needed more TV's. Too many customer games and not enough of entertainment. Lacks Sports Bar, No Country Music, All music was very similar from Bar to Bar! Presentation of food other than the International Cafe was average at best. If you enjoy jewelry the ship has it. If you're looking to buy Liquor on the ship, not much there with little or no presentation skills. Cruise Line was always trying to up-charge you for Steak, seafood, etc. Lobster was over cooked and rubbery! Read Less

Wonderful ship and crew... all the amenities without the amusement park. The ships staff and services was a bit overwhelmed the second week which was Christmas but they still tried very hard to accommodate 500 more people than the normal sailing. Entertainment was great and I highly recommend Kori Simon in the Piano bar and Barbi McCulloch and the ships entertainers in the show ENCORE! The Secret Silk show was ambitious as well. Dining was varied and always wonderful and the ships International Cafe and coffees were a great addition. If visiting Roatan I highly recommend going off the regular choices and seek out Daniel Johnson’s Monkey and Sloth Hangout. It was an amazing tour and the highlight of my trip. Check them out on TripAdvisor and reserve your spot ahead of time. Alexander, the ships cruise director was a pro and his staff kept everything running like clockwork. The casino was a bit hit and miss but that’s why they call it gambling. Overall another great Princess cruise. Can’t go wrong with the Royal or Regal Princess Read Less

We chose Princess primarily for the price offered for this cruise as we generally choose a cruise that is going to a new location each time. We have been able to take on average one or two cruises a year for five years and have used four different cruise companies with Princess being used for only the second time. Princess was exceptionally impressive in the area of embarkation and disembarkation. Their food in the buffet area was constantly well above average with good selection up until the last night. The separate pastry section was above average and conveniently located also. The international restaurant in the atrium 5th floor which had pies etc. was an excellent place for a snack and the two pizza locations also set this ship above average. You can see that I like to eat. The glass bottom over hang look out viewing sections on the pool deck was very unique and appreciated by many. Movies at night and constant concerts daily is a great enjoyment that separates Princess from many of the other cruise lines. I do not understand why other cruise lines do not use their pool deck movie screens in this manner. Nightly shows included live bands not recordings and as Captain's Circle Members we were treated to a mini show by the live band and dancers. Unheard of by the other cruise lines we have been on. Princess offers well above average cabin tv programing entertainment which has shows that focus on the subject of exotic cruise ports and locations. Over all Princess impressed and ranks at the top among the eleven cruises we have taken in five years on various cruise lines which include Carnival, Norwegian and Celebrity. Read Less

This was my first cruise! I think it was the best trip I have ever taken. Everyone, and I mean everyone on the ship was so polite, cheerful, helpful, efficient, and I could go on and on. the meals were delicious. Our waiter, was the best! He made us feel so special when we came in the dining room. We laughed, and so enjoyed the meal. Our waiter always was here to explain each dish and how it was prepared.Everything was served in such a elegant way. I loved watching the move at night, under the stars, that was so much fun. The shows were so professional and fun, lots of laughs. The casino was fun (I did win a little money) It was nice to have coffee in our room on the balcony. I cannot wait to go on another cruise with Princess. Thank you for knowing how to make folks feel welcome on your boat! Read Less

Any time dining is far from any time. Had to wait 30 mins even with a reservation, why even offer any time if there is none. Woman at the door of Concertos was extremely rude. Food was not what you would expect from a flagship of Princesses fleet stake was over done and un-edible. Menus were very limited every day of the cruise. Ended up using the buffet which had a better selection of food and better quality of product. Comedian Scott Wyler was the best part of the cruise very funny. The death of two passengers although not the cruise lines fault definitely had us concerned for our safety especially when there was no communication from the bridge that the person who caused the overboard death was caught or removed from the ship. Room steward was very attentive. Staff with the exception of the women at the door of Concertos were friendly. It seems like Princess is catering to an elderly crowd and forgetting the younger passengers and their children's needs. I have cruised on Princess ships since 1975 and this was by far the worst cruise and not up to Princesses standards. There seemed to be a problem with the air conditioning with a lot of warm spots especially the elevators. Not sure if this was from the cruise Wi-Fi but I came home to my Netflix account being hacked. Read Less

This cruise was a VIP casino cruise so the fair was lower and that is why I chose this cruise. Our port of embarkation was Fort Lauderdale Florida. We had a delayed embarkation due to sickness aboard the ship the prior week. The ship was being cleaned and disinfected. This was fine since we did not want to get ill while onboard. We did get into the terminal after 1pm and things went pretty smooth. We were on the ship within about 30 minutes. Got to our cabin shortly after that and actually had our clothes put away before the muster drill. The ship is as pretty as I remembered it. A little worn in places but still a beauty. The beds were comfortable. You had to ask for a robe even though they ask you in your booking if you wanted one you still had to get the steward to bring it to you. We also asked for feather pillows. They did not disappoint. I went with my friend because my husband was unable to go and we bot had a great sleep every night! Because it was a casino offer I played in the casino and did not see a lot of the entertainment. However I don't think I will go on one of these again. The casino was way to full, to smoky and to hot. Seriously the heat was so bad in there and every one was complaining. It took forever to get a drink. I don't drink alcohol so this was for a diet coke or a water. It was just to crazy full of people. And it was very difficult to get on a machine that you wanted to play because of this. We did though see a comedian and although he was a little funny he kind of made me upset when he said he talked about Norwegian cruise line. He said that he hates it and called the passengers white trash. I was offended because I also travel on NCL and love it. I also saw a new show called Silk something. It was really different and quite boring. We did not understand the show and did leave about 3/4 of the way through. There was also an amazing violinist playing in the Piazza and a great group called static. They were excellent. The dining was good. Most nights we ate in the main dining room (Allegro) and we had an excellent waiter named Michael. Our dining time was 7:45. It was supposed to be 7:15 but was changed by cruise brothers who had a lot of cabins booked on our ship. it was a late time to eat but was better then the early seating and Anytime Dining which we heard took from 20 minutes to an hour to get seated. We did stop in the buffet for dinner one night and it was also very good. Lots of selections. I ate in Alfredo's 3 times and it did not disappoint. And yes it is complimentary. We also ate at the outside area by the pool. One side had pizza and the other burgers and what not. Both were good. Oh and we also ate in the Piazza area with delicious donuts and croissants in the morning and nice lunches in the afternoon. They are open 24 hours so a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat. Our ship went to Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao (know at the ABC islands). We shopped in our first stop Curacao, in Aruba we took a bus with a group to the beach. Please make sure you put sunscreen on your lips as I really had burned lips due to being in the ocean and forgetting to put the chapstick on. Ouch, that really hurt and it blistered. I am home now and still have blisters. In Bonaire we rented a golf cart from Bonaire Cruisers and boy was that fun. It was $95 for the day and I do recommend this. There website is www.bonairecruisers.com they also have a facebook page. Lots of things to see on this island and it was nice doing it at your own pace. Plus you can stop at a beach bar and relax and have lunch. Really cool excursion!!! Our steward Olexander was amazing. And he even helped us fix our television. We were without tv so I called passenger services. They said they would send someone. No one came and I went to bed. The next day we still had no tv so I called passenger services again and they said someone would come and no one did. I called 2 more times and they said they had no record of my previous calls. Hmmmm??? So they said again someone would come. Well I saw our steward in the hall and asked him about it. He walked in an rebooted it and we finally had tv. Oh and no tech ever showed up. Pool area. Well as usual there are the people who get up early get a space and don't who up for hours. We were disappointed as we would come down after breakfast on the sea days and were unable to get a spot close to the pool area. So we sat up top most of the time. I do like that they play music and movies in the pool area. Debarkation was easy but then we had private transportation and were one of the last to get off the ship. This made it a breeze. On a somber note we did have a sad situation on our ship. A passenger was thrown overboard by her partner and landed on the lifeboat. My heart goes out to her family as this was just terrible tragedy for them to have to deal with. Read Less

we chose this cruise because of the 6 ports it stopped at. Princess get an A plus for embarkation and disembarkation very smooth and quick both ways. Our Ruby status only got us bumped to the front of the embarkation line just a bit. The ship was very nice and never felt overly crowded for the most part. We always get an inside cabin and it was large enough but the walls are paper thin we got up every morning when the folks in the next cabin got up so if you stayed out late you could not sleep in pass 7 am. The carpet needed to be cleaned or replaced. The cabin steward did his basic job and no more. on past cruises we have always asked for wine glasses to be left in our room and he told us he could not do that I just think he didn't feel like doing it. We did late dining and there were 3 couples at our tables we all enjoyed each others company they were great, I laughed so much at times. The servers were good not great one night they gave out the wrong menus another night we did not even get menus they stuck the menu in your face as soon as you sat down, had to always ask for drinks to be re-freshed. nothing was bad just not top notch. Entertainment was good not great and some venues were full and you had to stand if you stayed. We have been to all the ports so no surprises other than at Antigua there were 5 ships in port it was crazy with so many people we got off the ship for just a bit way too many people to deal with. We are 2 adults in our 50's I would travel on Princess again but next time I may lower my tip amount, I thought about doing it and never did on this trip. Read Less

The entertainment was great. The food quality left a lot to be desired. I felt hounded by the staff to buy things from the ship all the time. My room wasn't well layed out. The food in the premium restaurant was very good. We loved The Steakhouse. We got to see a world premier of Secret Silk. The theater was always overloaded. We had to arrive at least 1 hour before show time to get any seat. We enjoyed Trivial Pursuit. We missed one port due to high winds. Disembarkation was a big mess with long lines. Embarkation still needs work to make it a good start for a vacation. Our cabin steward wasn't good at all. Our severs for dinner were great. Internet service wasn't very good. The ice cream wasn't of good quality. We were at a table for 4 for dinner but we only were allocated 3 pieces of butter. We asked why and they said they were trying to economize. Read Less

we chose this cruise mainly for the itinerary. Overall was very nice to get away from chilly Canada. We had way more rain this time, and was very disappointed in the fact that our stop to Turks was cancelled due to bad weather. I understand but still sad as this was my 100% reason for picking this cruise. What really ruined this time for us was that the ship seemed to have an extra large amount of of rude, angry and self absorbed people. And it was "older people" who were behaving this way so it was very upsetting. The very worst of humanity it seems as found them pushy, angry and quite willing to argue over stupid things!!! It really makes me sad, we love cruising but this just was so upsetting not sure we want to go back any time soon. :( The crew themselves and everything else was amazing other then should go back to 3 shows a night not the two, as lack of chairs caused lots of anger as well :(. I loved movies under the stars nights so much.... was very humbling to stop at ST Thomas and see the kindness of those who lost so much. That was the best at seeing humanity at its best.... and for that I do thank you for that experience. Read Less

The cruise was chosen because we live 40 minutes from Baltimore. We have cruised on the Grandeur numerous times, and the service staff has always been friendly. The food is good in both the Windjammer and the Great Gatsby Dining Room, but the service is outstanding. I must say that the shows put on by the Royal Caribbean singers and Dancers are good but the shows are getting stale by now as they have not been changed in a decade. The excuse always given is that the sets are expensive, which is a poor reason for not refreshing them on a regular basis. Passengers do not choose cruises for expensive productions. Half the passengers were Diamond or above and have seen the productions dozens of times. The Centrum entertainment was good and the Celebration Band was excellent with a great range of music categories. Royal Caribbean Cruise Director's staff was excellent. Orlando was outstanding and a great goodwill ambassador. I have to point out that Romar and Yogi our servers were outstanding professionals and their work ethic and personal qualities were typical of what we have come to expect from the Grandeur of the Seas staff. We picked this cruise because of the reasonable price and islands to visit. We had a mini suite and our room was one of the smallest I have ever had. The balcony accommodated only one person at a time. Now that being said the cruise itself was wonderful with a great room steward, friendly and helpful staff, very good food with equally good waiter and assistant waiter, and being a photography buff, a good photography staff. We keep track of our cruises (over 30) with a picture of each port and when we mentioned this to the manager of the photo lab he arranged for us to have one taken and put into the background frame of the port we had missed. The ports were all good but the downside is, in Martinique, even the police do not speak English, making it impossible to converse with the locals and it was also impossible to find a cab, I wish I would have booked a tour instead of "doing it on our own". The entertainers were all good with the new production Encore excellent. All and all we enjoyed the cruise and would do, it in fact will do, the ship again, small room and all. Read Less

The Ship is beautiful. The food was pretty good, and the dining staff were prompt and friendly. Our cabin steward was HORRIBLE. This was my 16th cruise and I've never experienced such an unfriendly, down right rude cabin attendant. Our friends down the hall had a different guy, and were pleased with him, so hopefully this was a fluke. Embarkation, and debarkation was a breeze. The Dancers/singers were very good, however they had 3 different comedians during the 10 days, and one was very good, but the other two- Not so good...The food in the buffet was good, with the exception of the scrambled eggs- they were very "runny"... This ship doesn't have the many drink stations like the other cruise lines that I've been on, and the staff are there to bring the drinks to you when you sit down, which would be nice, however we were usually almost finished with our meal before our drinks arrived (water or coffee). Overall we had a really good time, and outside of the few negatives i mentioned, the cruise is a good value for the money. Read Less

Food was so so Entertainment was awful Room was very small Balcony was even smaller Time to move on to another line Highlight of our trip was getting lucky to get a table with some wonderful people who I do believe will remain friends with us for a long time. And our waiter who made us laugh most nights Out door movies should only be shown during the evening only The movies at the pool during the day were to loud You couldn't even have a conversation with anyone because you couldn't hear what they were saying. Or take a nap if needed. Our room I thought was very small and tight. The baloney was even smaller then we had in the past The balcony door was very hard to open. Made dinner reservations for our 40th Anniversary and they had no record of it in the system Told us we couldn't eat in the main dining room without a dinner jacket on formal night so we ate pizzA ( Which was good) but saw people coming out of the main dining room without tie's or jackets on formal night, so if there is a rule they need to stand by that rule. What a beautiful ship. We had sailed on its sister ship, the Regal Princess, and the layout, and in fact much of the decor was identical. Our balcony room was nice, but seemed smaller than usual. Leizal kept it spotless for us. We are old cruisers and like to eat in the main dining rooms when possible. Princess has stepped up their food, with Curtis Stone selections that proved amazing. One note, on our first night they offered prime rib, and the waiter verified it would not be on again during the ten day cruise. Since the Curtis Stone fish stew was going to be back, I opted for the rib, which was great. Had the stew later in the week, also great. Also had the Curtis Stone chicken pot pie, a really beautiful take on pot pie. The last sea day, we had the pub lunch in the Crown Grill. My wife had great fish and chips. I had the Scotch Egg, which the waiter said they normally served cold. It was good, but for me, hot would have been better. The times we ate in the Horizon Court buffet, the choices were overwhelming, and always delicious. Even the bircher muesli was the best I've had. I usually made our morning coffee run with a couple of insulated cups from home. I would first go to get a real meal in the Allegro dining room, well served by Natalya. First open faced omelet I've ever had. One final food note, the seafood bar offered Lobster rolls one day for eight bucks with a side. Watched the chef make the filling, then put it together, delicious. Mainiac sitting next to me said it was the real deal. After visiting ports, and on our sea days, I preferred finding a shady spot on deck to read. The Retreat worked well a couple of days. The Sanctuary would be better used if just added to the Retreat area. While there are no hot tubs or pools handy, the promenade deck 7, on both sides has loungers, with very nice pads. Entertainment was wonderful. Especially the guest entertainment brought on for a few days. John Bressler may be the most passionate musician we've seen. His unique CD offer, give him your address, he'll send you his CD's, and trust you to send him a check worked well. The Flyboys offered a neat four part harmony. The Liberty quartet, and the other regular performers were all great. If you have not tried Princess' Movies under the stars, do so. Very neat way to enjoy a recent release, with popcorn and blankets supplied! I've always wanted to try playing the Steel pan, and on our cruise, Tyrone Babb had a class. His job is still safe by me. Princess Cays, the private Princess Island was well run. I wanted to do a warmup snorkeling trip prior to Bonaire, so I scheduled a boat excursion to a dive site. The water was cold for a Floridian, 74 degrees, but I got acclimated quickly. Saw lots of fish, including a small stingray. The site had coral, but much was bleached. Back on land, the ship had a spread of buffet foods, and also “food truck" style carts. The jerk chicken was good from there. The beer, bought with the ship card, was ice cold. I did take a few minutes to step out the gate to the local straw market. Make sure you check with the gate guard as you leave. The tender trip in and out was no problem. St. Thomas is now a shopping stop for us. If you have not seen it, an excursion to Coral World is well worth it. Besides the reverse aquarium where you look out under the sea, they also do helmet dives there. The other neat place to visit, is the Butterfly garden, adjacent to the pier. Dominica is a great, typical island stop. We took the ship shuttle, $2 pp, downtown, as the big ships dock at the commercial piers. Smaller ships can moor at the Roseau pier, right in the middle of downtown, which is where the shuttle stop is located. We like museums, and the one by the shuttle stop was very good. It was very hot, so after a walk around their market square we hopped on the shuttle to get lunch on the ship. Grenada has always been one of our favorite places to visit, since our first visit there. It was a Sunday, and the timing was right to attend a local church. We like to do that when possible, and were rewarded with seeing a hummingbird visit its nest in the base of the eternal light. This trip we took a bus tour around the island, with visits to a nutmeg processing plant, Annandale Waterfalls, and finally stopping at Fort George, on the hill overlooking the harbor. What a view! I have wanted to dive Bonaire for decades, having read that it is one of the best snorkeling sites in the Caribbean. We booked an excursion on the sailing cat Mushi-Mushi. They picked about 15 of us up at the ship dock in a powered boat and took us to their dock, ten minutes away. There we transferred to the Mushi-Mushi and had a nice sail a mile or so down the coast, as Captain Bob and his crew explained the reef system and distributed our gear. Once at the mooring buoy we got in and enjoyed one of the best dives I've ever had. The fish population was slightly larger than Princess Cays, but the coral was enormous, with waves breaking over the coral reef tops. Only saw a few bleached corals. Saw no lion fish, and Captain Bob said they have safari dives to clear them out occasionally. After an hour in the water, it was back on the boat for a leisurely sail back to the dock, with rum punch flowing. Curacao is a neat port. Another good walking port, with the ship less than a 15 minute stroll away. Almost certainly, they will open the Queen Emma pontoon bridge at least once while you're walking around. Plenty of neat places to shop. Note: check your local stores for liquor prices before you sail. The blue Curacao liquor is available there for $18-40 depending on the bottle. Got a bottle at home for six bucks. (It is an ugly bottle, from Kentucky, but it tastes the same). Our splurge, a tablecloth. This cruise we tried something new for us. We took the Escot Cruise Connection bus to and from Ft. Lauderdale. This worked really well. Got to watch a full movie, coming and going, and the bus had wifi. It started in St. Pete at o-dark-30, but picked us up in Port Charlotte about 0830. Got to the ship in time for lunch. It was nice not to have to deal with traffic or parking. Read Less

We chose The Royal Princess because of our previous cruises on this ship. The addition of the stairs in the forward area was a big improvement. It is still a difficult ship to navigate because of the size. Getting to the Allegro dinning room is difficult....having to take an elevator at the aft of the ship. Our trip this year was great except for the fact that it was completely filled and the wait lines at anytime dining could be up to 45 minutes....if you went after 6pm. Also..... getting into the Princess Theatre was difficult. The old timers typically got into the show an hour before starting and did not like to move or stand.... as they sat in the end seats.....some really crabby old people.....(are you one of these?!!!!) :-( ..... thus the reduction to 4 stars instead of the usual 5. We usually arrived 40 minutes before the start of the show and had a hard time finding a seat. I am thinking that maybe Princess should deviate from its schedule and do their two shows maybe at 7:30 and 9:30 instead....just a suggestion. Casino.... always packed.....smoking smell was bad. Food was wonderful! Service was great! Did not use the pool much because of the crowds....there are too many chair hogs. We were lucky to have a balcony this time and thoroughly enjoyed the sun there. Not a big fan of the "EFFY" jewelry offered in the Facet's store.....would prefer having different designers available to choose from. Compared to the other Princess ships we've been on..... The Library on this ship is not as good....bring your own books to read. Prices for internet service is too high....even with the free minutes when you get onboard the 1st two day. Can't wait to become Platinum to get the free internet. All in all.....I am a Princess Fan and thoroughly enjoy cruising and the pampering we receive from the entire wonderful staff.... "How can you not like being served wonderful food, drinks and having your cabin well kept! Read Less

There was some confusion about reservations the first night, but after that, we settled in and thoroughly enjoyed the food, the wine and the wait staff. Ate our breakfasts at Horizon Court, where my wife had trouble initially getting grapefruit. Seems they hide them. The omelette station and the food were good ,but ordinary. Didn't change much day to day. The food at the International Cafe wasn't as good as I remember from previous Princess cruises, but the desserts were awesome. -We like to spend time at the rear of the ship because it's less crowded, but were disappointed that there was no pool there like on other ships. We understand this problem was corrected on the Regal. -Embarkation was the quickest ever, perhaps aided by our Platinum status. The free WiFi for Platinum also came in handy. -Seems like activities around the pool have been curtailed. Seems like the staff was always cooking up something at the pool on past cruises, but not so much on this one. We always look forward to the Tropical Party on the pool deck. No longer. Most activities are centered around the Piazza area, which is beautiful, much nicer than the older ships. -The entertainment was good and the theater was state of the art, but Princess 's shows are pretty much production shows. Would be nice to see some variety. The illusionist and the Impressionist were good shows if you could get in ,which was problematic. - The redeeming factor was the itinerary, the variety of islands, and the shore excursions were well run.The 3 "at sea" days were just at the right times. This was a family & friends cruise...first time for friends. We were disappointed in the Princess experience on this ship. We are Platinum level and have enjoyed Princess ships in past. However, as another reviewer pointed out, the number of elevators vs. passengers was poor planning. The elderly did not always have the option to walk the stairs, and elevator waits were approximately 5-10min and then jammed pack with people getting aggressive to squeeze in just to get a lift. Food quality was disappointing on this ship. Dining room dinners were bland and meals unworthy of praise. Servers appeared not to be able to spend time with their table, due to the high numbers of passengers vs. servers & room. Horizon court was bland or average food. Desserts were presented well, just not flavorful. And the design of the Horizon court was not planned well. Again, the number of passengers versus the narrow spaces in between the food selections was crowded. People pushing and getting aggressive as the space was too tight. Round service areas in the buffets for larger numbers is more conducive to high density traffic...not "line" food service. Traffic circles! However, Sabatini's wine dinner was outstanding. Those chefs need to be directing the dining room food courses on the ship. All of their food was wonderful! Excursions for the most part were enjoyable. The segway tour was a lot of fun, but the return to the ship promised a stop at the beach for a swim and eats. Our driver gave us 20min total. We ordered a snack at the restaurant on the beach and the driver told us we had to leave or he would be late. He added, NO wet clothes in my van or on my seats. Don't know where the "swim" time was suppose to come into play. We had to get our food to go which was cold when we reached the ship. Horseback ride was fun with the horses, but again, the excursion stated snacks. We thought for the price a snack would be provided or choices. We reached the beach to find a shack and a woman cooking chicken....for a price. Disappointing! This should have been noted in the description of the excursion as "chicken for small fee on excursion". Overall, we were disappointed. Passenger to space ratio poorly designed. This experience has us questioning whether to continue our trips with Princess or branch out. We had always had great experiences with Princess in the past and hope reviews are taken into consideration for future ships and trips. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I liked that it docked in 3 ports I had never been to before. This was my second time on a Princess ship. We enjoyed our time. This was the nicest cabin (inside) I'd ever been in. As far as food which is never really a prime issue for me, I thought the dinner choices were so-so. Entertainment was good. I thought the Mardi Gras events which lasted about 45 minutes in the Piazza was a miss. Should have made it more of a party in the evening. Overall experience was pleasant. The crowd was a bit older than I had expected. Nice ship. I understand the stairways in the Piazza were an addition after many complaints. Most guests seemed to be having an enjoyable cruise. They could have better prizes for trivia challenge and game show winners. Would have liked a cheap pen better than the oft peddled bottle of cheap champagne to divide amongst 6 people who were not traveling together. Otherwise, a fine time. Read Less

We have sailed with Princess before and have always been very pleased with their service. I cannot praise highly enough the caliber and professionalism of the staff on this ship, which is the current flagship for Princess cruises. My wife and I are in our 70's and travel for comfort and good service, which were abundant on this cruise. Sadly I caught a virulent bug and had to use the medical facilities, which proved to be excellent. My wife suffers from an allergy to the protein in dairy products. We mainly used the Concerto dining room and the staff could not have been more helpful. Each evening the Headwaiter would bring the menu for the following day and help my wife choose her meal for the following evening, making any changes needed to the meal. They even made her special dairy free deserts. For a ship with 3,600 passengers, I find this amazing. Becoming handicapped is part of growing older and whilst we could not use many of the shore excursions because they did not cater for wheelchairs, we were generally very happy with the service and amenities. We will be back! Read Less

This was our ninth Princess Cruise and our first on the new generation ships (Royal Princess). We had a very enjoyable cruise with friends, and especially enjoyed the islands of St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Antiqua, and St. Thomas/St. John. The Royal did not disappoint us in anyway in regard to excellent service throughout the ship. The ship's crew was always friendly, competent, and pleasant to talk with. We were surprised at some of the rudeness shown by fellow passengers--perhaps amplified by the number of passengers on board (3600 compared to 3000, for example, on the largest of the older ships). The Royal is very elegant and familiar, but with smaller cabins and only somewhat larger public areas. Some very good pluses include the new Pizza/Pasta restaurant on the 6th deck, an expanded casino, and improved food in the Horizon Grill. We enjoyed some of the entertainment--a great Comedian on the first night, and a terrific New Orleans Jazz group from the Ship's orchestra! The upgraded cabin TV system--with free movies was also very appreciated. No problems with getting onboard or off--great to offer transport for suitcases to home destination. Don't miss the historic fort on St. Kitts, or the garden on St. Lucia. Had fun with a rented car on Barbados--driving on the "other side" of the road. The smaller rooms are off-set by the affordable cruise price. Read Less

We chose this cruise to escape from the Northeast winter for a while. Royal princess did not disappoint. We had read rumblings from other Princess cruisers avout the shortcomongs of the new Royal class, but we loved tge ship. Yes, the balconies are smaller, but not enough to mske much of a difference,. The ship is beautiful, & the extra large piazza is the hub of tge ship. Activities & entertainment were plentiful. We found the service excellent, provided by a crew that seemed happy to be aboard. Our room was kept spotless by one of the best attendants we've had in over 30 sailings. Food was generally good to very good. We ate at Crown Grill & found the food very good, but not exceptional, & thought that the ambiance could be better. Be sure to try Alfredo's. Tgey serve excellent pizza & is a good plce to eat lunch on embarkation day in order to avoid tge Horizon stampede! Speaking of Horizon, Royal's is a much better layout than the older Princess ships, which we have found cramped. Would highly recommend Royal Princess! Read Less

We had previously cruised on the Royal 2 years ago in the Caribbean with a slightly different itinerary. We thoroughly enjoyed it so booked the same stateroom. The ship was exactly as we remembered and the staff again were superb in every way. The standard of entertainment was excellent both in terms of the casual events and music during the day but particularly in respect of the evening shows in the theatre. They were London West End standard. The only slight criticism that we had this year relates to dress codes in the evenings. These have certainly been relaxed and those that still apply are not enforced, particularly on the formal evenings where it was very apparent that mostly American passengers could not be bothered to comply with the dress code and were not spoken to be staff in the dining rooms. If there is a code, as I think there should be, then Princess should enforce it. There is ample opportunity to dress casually and there are now only 2 formal nights on a 10 day cruise so it's not asking a lot for passengers to make an effort. We took advantage of 5 shore excursions. They were generally very good and well selected by Princess. They are all provided by 3rd parties. There were a couple of disappointing moments and I have fed those back to Princess. We will certainly consider using Princess in the future Read Less
