We recently cruised on the Jewel of the Seas and found it to be a beautiful ship. The staff was very friendly and the cabin was very accomadating. We loved our corner aft cabin with it's extended balcony. The cabin had more storage than any other ship we had been on. We did think the big old TV's should be replaced soon. The Windjammer was a bit crowded and it was sometimes hard to find a ...
My hubby and I have cruised many times but this was our first experience with RCCL. I have to say it is right up there in our great times in cruising. We live in Florida so we took Cruise Connection Bus to get to the port. This is the third time we have chosen to leave the driving to someone else and it is a great way to go. The bus is very comfortable and lots of leg room for my 6'3" hubby. ...
This was our second family cruise. There were seven of us (grandparents, parents and 3 kids aged 13, 11 and 8). Previously we had sailed to the Western Caribbean on the coincidentally named, and similar sized, Norwegian Jewel. We booked connecting superior balcony cabins directly through Royal Caribbean. We booked 8 months out but periodically checked the website for price changes and were able ...
This was all our second cruise on The Jewel; the previous one being in March 2006. Was very pleased to see how well the intervening years have not marred her beauty in any appreciable way. The ship was immaculate. We were all on-board (arrived in three separate groups) by around noon on Day 1. Carried on a couple of cases of pop in duffel bag with no problems. In fact, the whole embarkation ...
Boston to Miami - Our American Airlines flight arrived in Boston with an oil leak so our 2:30PM flight had to wait for another plane to arrive. We took off atfer 8PM arriving Miami at 11:30PM. They could not open the cargo door for 1 ½ hours! We got our luggage at 1AM and arrived at the Fort Lauderdale Hampton Inn (Airport/Cruise) at 2AM via Super Shuttle for $65. Later AA credited us 5000 miles ...
We boarded the ship on Feb. 14, 2011 and set sail from Ft. Lauderdale. The check-in process was quick and painless. Once on board the fabulous Jewel of the Seas, we proceeded to the buffet where there were plenty of food options. Apparently, we weren't the only ones with this idea, so seating was limited. After lunch, we checked out our suite which was well appointed. We quickly changed into our ...
This was our first RCL cruise.
We drove from Canada and stayed in Plantation at the Hampton Inn. We did this last year as well and found it very convenient. We didn't want to stay too close to port as our car would be parked for an extended amount of time. The hotel was $135/night and we paid $25 for unlimited parking while we were away. They had complimentary breakfast and shuttle to and ...
This was our second cruise with RCCL. We sailed Feb 25/11 from Ft Lauderdale after a 5 day stay in Kissimmee to enjoy Disney World. We appreciated the 1st sea day really needing the rest after 4 full days of fun and sun at the Disney Parks. Embarking was speedy and efficient. Our cabin was ready upon arrival and our luggage not far behind.
The Jewel of the Seas is a beautiful ship and her ...
Well, first I am so excited that my husband and I finally made it to Panama and Costa Rica! We tried to do a cruise similar to this 10 day route (Ft. Lauderdale to Cartagena, Columbia, Panama, Costa Rica, Labadee Haiti and Grand Cayman Islands) on Carnival back in 2008. It was an 8 nighter, going only to Panama, Costa Rica and Belize. Well, long story short, they changed the itinerary the day we ...
