The Solarium area was closed completely (including the Bistro and Samba Grill) for the first 4 days of the cruise. Additionally, the Beach Pool and access to the women’s restroom on the pool deck was blocked off the entire cruise while the pool was being refurbished. Once the Solarium opened back up, the hot tubs near the Solarium were closed. These closures caused overcrowding in the pool areas, ...
We were first-time cruisers. We did not know what to expect. Upon embarking we believed RCCL was a well-oiled machine. The check-in process of vaccine and negative test checking was efficient. Once on the ship, we were amazed at how beautiful Deck 5 was. The cabin was clean and our luggage came very quickly. We ate lunch and settled in. We had a several-hour delay in leaving the port that ...
My fiancé (at the time) and I chose this cruise because Royal Caribbean’s travel planner was so friendly, informative and said they would have something special planned for us if we sailed with them because it was our honeymoon.
Because of this, we sailed with them.
Later, we received an email saying something was broken with the boat and they needed to change our destination.
We still ...
50th Anniversary cruise. As a veteran cruiser I found the Allure of the Seas the most disappointing of all the cruises I’ve taken. The food was always cold, the dining room staff was overworked and extremely slow. Drink prices are ridiculously high. I was charged $15 for a Manhattan and $15 for a White Russian and both of these were only half filled.
Our travel agent did not tell us that not ...
I had high expectations as I heard and read lots of raving reviews on this boat. Here’s a summary of our experience. Service was awful. Too many people on board. Lines were long. Dining staff completely disorganized. We had anytime dining and on one night it was a 1-2 hour wait to eat. In the buffet for dinner one night, a kid took a topping spoon at the sundae station, put the spoon in his mouth ...
I have been on 85 cruises and I wanted to try a mega ship. What a mistake. From the moment I booked this cruise I felt like I was being hustled. I received emails informing me that I had to book my dinner reservations I had to book all my shows and I was given very unpleasant times with no choice in the matter . I also received several emails asking me to upgrade buying dining packages ...
Royal Caribbean ships have outgrown their ability to serve their customers. It starts with boarding. We were a group of 12 with 5 rooms. Only one piece of luggage was delivered to our room and that one was after we complained multiple times to various people and were even taken to the luggage room looking for it. The rest of our luggage was found on our floor but no where near our rooms. The ...
This was not our first cruise so we have had some experience to compare it to. First let me say I was highly disappointed when they informed us we would NOT be going to St. Thomas island because one of the "pods" had a bearing that may be going bad. Really? That was just the start and the only thing that was preventing this review was the fact that I did not know how to capture soooooo many ...
My wife and I are RCCL and Celebrity fans, so it's painful to report on a cruise that was far below expectations.
First, I should note the positives: we decided to treat our three 14-year old grandchildren to a cruise, and, after much hand wringing, elected to book all five of us in a single veranda room -- one of the very few of its type. I was impressed by how well we were able to manage. ...
We chose this cruise for our children and grandchildren. Our stop into San Juan was cut short (this was before all the problems). We only had a few hours there. Then, we never ported at their private island because of a medical problem that forced us to return to San Juan. Most ships can airlift someone off; don't know why RC did not do this.
Our best port, the private island, was ...
