Canal is great, cruise is ok

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Coral Princess

The Panama canal was on our bucket list and there are not a lot of cruise lines that offer this cruise. The canal is awesome and such a marvel to see and go through, and the ship was nice, but nothing special. We were very disappointed that during our early morning hours (7am) venture through the canal we were standing at the back of the ship in the Sanctuary to take pictures of the canal and even ...

A pleasant cruise of the Panama Canal

My parents chose this itinerary as a Panama Canal cruise was on my father's "bucket list" (he's in his early 70's). As I normally make all my parents' travel arrangements and the cruise fare offered by Princess last October was exceptional for us Canadians, it was agreed that I would join them. This was the 5th cruise for my mom and I (our 2nd on Princess) and my dad's 4th. We were very ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4ThqEELxwY Here is the utube video of two of the four songs sung by the Princess Pop Choir. This was taken by Thuy, a guest, on her cell phone. We joined the pop choir and practiced an hour a day. It was fun and games, mostly. We performed in the atrium on the last day at sea on our 10 day Panama Canal Cruise. We were told the performance would be filmed ...

We chose this itinerary primarily because of the opportunity to go through the Panama Canal locks. The rest of the itinerary was fine. We used the ship's shore excursions for the ports except for Cartagena (private tour). Surprisingly, the ship's excursions turned out pretty well with the exception of the one in Panama. Although the guide was very good, the trip itself was not great. If ...

Panama Canal is interesting

The shores excursions were hit & miss at best. We didn't bother getting off in Aruba since the ship was only docked for a few hours in the morning. In Cartegna, we did the Old City Walking Tour & Las Bovedas. It was interesting but could have used a bit more time. During the Canal partial transit, we took the ship's tour (RAINFOREST & GATUN LAKE AND LOCKS CRUISE) that included viewing the canal ...

Not a Happy Cruiser

Very disappointed in my first Princess Cruise. The ship had a sewage smell in many of the hall ways from day one. Very off putting. It was possibly a health hazard as well most of our group ended up with a severe upper respiratory infections before the cruise was over or after we got home. There were also times when a strong scent of solvent was present in some areas. The buffet area was ...

Overall Coral Princess Average at Best

Was very excited to go to Columbia, Panama, and Costa Rica. The Coral Princess is an older ship and the cabin bathroom was unbelievably small. The Cabin and restaurant serving staffs were excellent, friendly, and professional. The front desk Passenger staff was not. Twice we were given the wrong information and missed a function entirely. The food was good, and there were several wine tastings ...

We chose this Panama Canal cruise because it started and ended in the same port, Ft. Lauderdale. All of the ports on this itinerary were new to us, a great adventure. Embarkation was fine, we were even on the ship in advance of our anticipated boarding time. The disembarkation was terrific because we chose to use EZ Check that took our bags from outside our stateroom and delivered them to ...

Our prior experience with Princess has been on one Alaska cruise and two 28 day repositioning cruises - one across the Pacific and one across the Atlantic. In fact our Alaska cruise was on this same ship - the Coral Princess. It was about 10 years ago and I believe the ship is showing some of it's wear and tear now. Overall the staff, especially the room steward and servers, were most ...

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Coral Princess

This was our seventh cruise on Princess, and eleventh overall. Our last with Princess was the Pacific Princess in 2008 and as with previous trips, all was good and up to expectations. Since that cruise, we've been on Regent Seven Seas and Oceania plus a small ship in Alaska. Our impression on the Coral princess is that the ship needs refurbishiing; she's showing her age. Plus the qulity of the ...
