As we boarded at F.L.on 23rd April 2009,we were still "virgin"cruisers!meaning to say we were ignorant of what went on on arrival aboard. Thus to our surprise of the LIRICA about a late with the tranfer from Miami we saw some passengers doing the boat drill at about 17.15hrs;Having been ushered to our cabin by a polite steward-then,but as time went on waiting for our baggage the steward kept ...
My wife and I, both retirees, have taken more than thirty cruises but this was our first cruise with MSC. We decided to take this cruise at short notice and selected the Lirica because of the itinerary and the price. Had I read the reviews before booking the cruise I might have had second thoughts. But it was too late to cancel so we decided to hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. As ...
We arrived at the cruise terminal in Ft Lauderdale right around 12:30 on embarkation day. There was a small line (about 100-150 people) and breezed through the embarkation process in about 15 minutes. We were taken to our room to put down our carry on bags and directed to the buffet lunch upstairs. There was a variety of foods on the buffet, hotdogs, hamburgers and fries on the American bar, pizza ...
As I stated we had gone on a two week tour of Italy in 2008 and had a fantastic time. When I learned of MSC being an Italian style cruise I couldn't sign up fast enough. The ship was impeccable. Our cabin was spacious. The crew was very nice most of the time. One of the problems we had with the Lirica was the food. We have been on many cruises and I would have to say the Lirica had by far the worst ...
We just returned from a spring break cruise on the MSC Lirica, sailing the South Eastern Caribbean and South America. I wanted to start out by informing those considering a cruise on this ship not to change their mind by reading these reviews as my wife and I almost did. We had booked this cruise several months in advance and chose this line due the great itinerary and cost. We have cruised ...
I am just going to give an overview of my recent 10 day Caribbean sailing on the MSC Lirica. For those who might be interested in more day to day detail, I wrote a live daily review, and you can view it here: http://www.boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=941026
First to give credit where it is due, the ship is maintained beautifully, and there was no hint that she is six years old, ...
After reading the reviews on CC we were a bit concerned. People either loved or hated it. We ended up loving it. Be warned, however, if you are looking for WOW factor, the latest in everything, gourmet dining and prefer steak and potatoes to anything else, you won't like the MSC Lirica. However, come open-minded and think more European-like experience that is different from the standard N.A. ...
We selected this ship because of its size, and, having lived in Southwest Florida for a number of years, we sought to encounter different cultures and meet people from all over. This ship, with its European ownership and customer base promised that. We had no pre-conceptions or expectations. I have to say that from embarkation to debarkation we were pleased at how these folks really have their act ...
We just returned from a Panama Canal cruise on the MSC Lirica. While the cruise ship was immaculate, clean, and well-equipped, it fell short in some areas. Let's cover the good things first: Cleanliness - no one became ill. There were hand sanitizers everywhere. The food was good, not great. We enjoyed the Italian pasta dishes and the risoto. Fish and meat dishes were not very good. Not many ...
I just returned from a 10 day eastern sailing on MSC Lirica and let me first say that if you are used to Royal Caribbean, Carnival, or NCL you are in for a big shock because this is not your typical American cruise line. I was rather disappointed in many aspects because I felt like if the ship wants to do business in America and market to Americans then they need to change the way they deliver ...
