We purchased a Neptune suite in the rear corner, so we had good all-round views and a large veranda. The only thing that was good about this expensive cruise were the workers on board. Very good people.
Cabin - Large but many issues listed below.
Food - Good at start but got worse over the trip. The specialty restaurants were much better than the public ones.
Entertainment - Similar all ...
The mainstage performances were the worst that I had in my 10+ cruise experiences. There were all male performers for the entire trip with very low quality. Obviously, the ship chose to save the cost of using low profile performers. The cruise entertainment director did a very poor job. Also, my first time use luggage case was damaged in the transport from the room to the dock. The food ...
We've cruised Royal Carib, Princess, Norwegian, and Carnival in the past. I would put say that the Zuiderdam was better than Carnival and Norwegian, the same as Royal Caribbean, but not quite as nice as princess. We were a party of 6 with 2 rooms. 8111 and 1035. 3 middle aged adults and 3 in their 20s.
The good: The ports were excellent. Not overcrowded and full days at each port. We didn't ...
We did two seven day cruises back to back on the Zuiderdam, coming back to Fort Lauderdale in between. We like Holland America because of the extra large verandas and the fact that their ships aren’t overwhelming. Big enough to offer enough to do but not so big we feel lost in crowds.
We also signed on with Holland America in part because of their offering for America’s Test Kitchen. We ...
We were a little hesitate booking an older ship. Holland America was a great experience.
The staff and food were excellent! Our room was clean and comfortable. Our room staff were very attentive and kept the room very clean. Entertainment was good. Lido staff was great and the pasta bar was excellent. Breakfast was great. The main dining room was very good and an excellent waiting staff. I ...
EMBARKATION—We arrived on an early flight and were in Group 3 to enter the ship. No lines at check-in but had to wait until after 11:30 to board the ship. Our cabin was ready and we went up to Deck 9 Lido for an uncrowded lunch. Was very surprised that the “no touch” rules were not in effect. On our last HAL cruise (2014) the servers handed us everything for the first 2 days to help prevent the ...
I just love Holland America and would suggest spending the extra $$ to get a balcony suite, preferably a Neptune Suite. Our room and balcony was enormous and we had private "membership" to the Neptune Lounge, which is like having the front office, explorations lounge and lido all in one spot. Cappucino, breakfast, all day snacks, comfortable TV viewing area, computer, nice spot to meet people. ...
It's the first time we haven't driven down to Florida from Ont. Ca. We flew using the services of HAL, on A/C, we had checked out the air fares before we booked the flight, and the fares were cheaper than what was quoted with A/C, by a few $. We always arrive the day ahead, especially this time in case of snow, and if the flight was cancelled, needn't have worried, no snow. we booked the ...
The cruise was fine, let me start by saying that. But the ship is showing it's age. People were calling it the "rusterdam" because of all the rust evident everywhere. The chair is our room was in deplorable condition. Took pics and sent them to Guest relations. Arms were filthy and the whole chair stained. The crew was amazing as always.
Did notice some changes in the dining room menu. ...
Our first cruise together was on the Zuiderdam in Fall 2004. With a long Christmas break at work and the availability of a Monday to Monday cruise we decided to sail on her again. This allowed for a two day drive to Fort Lauderdale instead of cramming all 14 hours of the drive into a Saturday as we did for a Sunday to Sunday trip on the Eurodam a couple years back.
This ship is now a bit more ...
