I chose RC because the port of call was the most convenient in term of cost of transportation. We boarded from Fort Lauterdale and from then had 3 days of bad weather. Leaving New England for some warmth did not materialize. Entertainment on the ship was very repetitious however the staff was very accommodating which made a big difference in being able to tolerate being on the ship most of the time. Breakfast in the Windjammer had a lot of variety and the staff was very helpful. The dining room staff was excellent. Lodging accommodations were adequate and the room was very clean. The bathroom was a bit cramped but this is a cruise not a hotel. The cleaning staff ls outstanding. I could not discover the charm of Coco Cay on a rainy and windy day. Same for Nassau. The music bands lack enthusiasm thus could not get people involved. The DJs were much better. The inconvenient elevator test during the day could have been done at a less busy time. Could easily have been more generous with the Bingo prizes. The Casino was there to just take more out of people’s wallets and the slot machines did not prove any different. All in all if one is looking for a get away from the rat race at work, this is not all devastatingly bad. I would take another cruise with CR when the weather is more cooperative. Read Less

Great overall experience on this 4-night cruise that left from Fort Lauderdale. We have been on a bunch of cruises and this ranks up there with the best of them. Food was excellent and better by far than a few of the rival cruise lines. Dining room service and staff was a highlight. We got the drink package and it was well worth it. Room attendant did a great job and was very friendly and helpful. Cabin was good sized (we had a 4th level outside room) and the ship overall is kept in good shape. You would not know by the shape of the ship that it is a bit older and we liked the size better than some of the massive newer ships. Getting on/off quick and easy. Coco Cay was beautiful and Key West a blast. All the staff were very friendly and made you feel well take care of. I really don't understand some of the lower ratings for this ship. I don't know where to start, I have been on many cruises and this was by far the worst. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BILLS THROUGHOUT YOUR CRUISE. They over charge you and then when they are suppose to give you a credit they actually charge you more. Bartenders add tips on to your receipts after you walk away so make sure to keep track of it. Our room filled up with Diesel fumes one night and I was told "nothing is wrong, our tech went and checked everything and everything was fine", next day I called the manager and was told "yes we had an issue with the damper and instead of the fumes going out they were going into the vents". That's REALLY SAFE AND HEALTHY, ESPEICALLY FOR A 2 YEAR OLD AND AN EXPECTANT MOTHER. The employees didn't care about any of it, all they wanted to do was make us look like we were wrong. The bathrooms in the stateroom had a HORRIBLE urine smell that never went away, it was GROSS. The bathroom by Windjammers was disgusting, none of the toilets flushed. One day I went in there and every toilet was full of human waste and the smell almost knocked you on your feet. The bathrooms by the dining room were closed more than they were open due to sanitary issues. The dining staff was horrible and couldn't even get the orders right. This was the biggest waste of money for a family vacation ever. I will go back on Carnival and risk the chance of the ship getting caught on fire before I go back on Royal Read Less

We were a little nervous about taking a cruise and had no experience Whatsoever but the price was right and we decided to try it!! Booked a 5 night February cruise aboard the Enchantment of the Seas departing out of Ft Lauderdale. I discovered and used the cruise critic board for all sorts of information from a pre departure hotel to what to do on excursions. The information there was priceless!! Our hotel the Hyatt Place was great!! Room was comfortable and we were within walking distance of supermarkets, restaurants--anything we needed. We stocked up on pop as we did not have a soda card and when arriving there was no problem whatsoever with getting it on. Departure routine was a little scary as we had never done it but staff was helpful and process turned out to be quick and painless--we arrived at around noon and was onboard within an hour. Our rooms were not ready so we sat down to eat lunch--a little chaotic but very good in the Windjammer. We then explored the ship and went into our rooms which were small but very nice. We had connecting interior staterooms and just left the door open and went back and forth--the kids loved the beds!! Our servers were so nice and made us feel like royalty--Mona Lisa our waitress had our names memorized right away and my boys loved her!! She always made us feel so special and would give the kids treats to take back with them after dinner. We shared our table with a family from Illinois and we all hit it off right away!! It was great fun to meet people and be able to talk about our experience throughout the day. Of course we loved all the food but hung out by the pool and played ping pong, participated in the wonderful Fitness center and its classes. We jumped on the Bungee trampoline, climbed the wall and took a couple of classes--. We loved Cozumel!! We went to Chankanaab Park and swam with the dolphins and snorkeled. So Beautiful and the Royal Swim with the dolphins is something we will always remember! In Key West we went snorkeling--had fun but there were alot of jellyfish in the water and was a little nervous re those. We went to Belize and took a tender to get there--we have friends in Belize so we just visited them and didn't do any excursions. We loved the towel animals on the beds each night--we loved all the staff and had a Blast!! Can't wait to get this chance again!! Enchantment is small but oh so beautiful and never lacking in things to do!!! Read Less

We took the Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Seas a Vision Class Ship out of Norfolk, VA's Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center on June 3, 2010 for 9 days. I've heard other people complain about the parking downtown so we had a friend drop is off so we didn't have a problem with it. The worst part for us was making the turn into the Cruise Terminal; the City of Norfolk really needs to work on that. The best suggestion I can offer is to make a loop and coming straight into the terminal rather than attempting to make the turn from downtown or from I-264. We had to wait for about 15 minutes to make the turn but other than that it was very painless and the remainder of the embarkment process and the return disembarkment went very smoothly. Kudos to the Norfolk Port as it quiet lovely, I don't understand why there are not more cruises out of this Port, it seems as though it is a quite a waste to let the terminal be idle. Many of you may know that the Enchantment of the Seas underwent a major refurbishment in 2005; there was an addition of 73 foot to the midsection to lengthen the ship. Although the Enchantment was originally launched in 1997, I'd say that the renovations made her much fresher and contemporary. Enchantment's renovation is said to be the most complicated ever undertaken by a cruise line. Considering that it is the biggest cruise ship ever to be lengthened. The ship was actually sliced down the middle, and then a newly built midsection was slotted in between the two halves. As a result of the stretching, there was room for new facilities, from a fabulous new pool area to an alternative gourmet restaurant and a Latin-themed nightclub. The ship also received an extensive refurbishment that, though not comprehensive, refreshed the ambience. It's got one of the most beautiful sun decks/pool decks at sea, not only is it spacious, with plenty of room for everybody, but it also possesses unique features, such as a multi-colored splash pool, the Oasis bar with sea view stools and the elegant if slightly futuristic-looking suspension bridges that sway over the area. They also added a Jump Zone, it's a bungee trampolines and a Rock Climbing Wall. I did not try either of them out however. I did watch a competition but with the Wall being on the very back of the ship it wasn't much room to gather and watch. Instead of a standard buffet, there's a food court-like venue, Windjammer Marketplace with stations that include Mediterranean fare, salads, a rotisserie, desserts and more. The ship gained an alternative restaurant, Chops Grille not to mention other noshing "boutiques" like Seattle's Best Coffee and Ben & Jerry's. We enjoyed the Coffee bar but found out almost too late that the cookies and pastries were free when you got your coffee there. While on the subject of coffee, the absolute worse coffee is served in the Windjammer. I chose to eat in the dining room instead or just had room service for breakfast instead. The itinerary from Norfolk was to San Juan, Puerto, St Thomas, VI, Samana, Dominion Republic and Labadee, Haiti. We didn't get off the ship in the ports except in St Thomas because we have seen the islands many times and wanted just to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Although we did check out the excursion offerings and they were a number to choose from we opted for a self directed excursion in St Thomas by just taking a taxi to Sapphire Beach. The beach was incredibly beautiful and the snorkeling was awesome. I would definitely go there again and would recommend it to others for some awesome snorkeling, that being said, don't expect much once you get to the beach, there is little "customer service" available but they do have sodas. I personally really enjoy room service for breakfast so you don't have to face the day before coffee! So a special treat is for me was the breakfast room service menu. There is still a full hot menu with eggs, bacon, sausage and the coffee from the dining room is much better. Many of the other cruise lines have gone to a "continental" menu for room service breakfast menu so kudos Royal Caribbean for that. The Windjammer Market place was the buffet area, you could have breakfast, lunch and dinner there if you wanted but the food was average. The seating was awful, so you had to get up early if you wanted to get a seat for breakfast or eat an early lunch unless you wanted to take your food elsewhere to eat it. Overall I found in the dining room the food to be average as well however the chicken, pork tenderloin and lamb were very quite good as were their desserts. However, the steaks were hardly ever cooked right and they were fatty. I guess they are no longer serving the "better" cuts of meat in the dining room so folks will be inclined to go to the Chops Grille for steak. I was very disappointed in the lobster night because the lobster wasn't cooked quite enough, so they tried to fix it by "deep fat frying it" which resulted in horrible lobster. I will give them an "E" for effort because they tried to fix the problem. There were areas on the ship that were untouched during the renovation such as the decks surrounding the Centrum, the Internet Cafe, the area around Ben & Jerry's, Seattle's Best and the Casino so they appeared a little worn. I am quite sure that the refurbishment did not include the bedding, because they are the hardest mattresses I ever laid on but of course, it has been 5 years since the refurbishment. I would definitely recommend that Royal Caribbean take some lessons from Carnival on their bedding choices because I have never been disappointed with my bed on a Carnival ship. We made the mistake of selecting cabin 3761 so please do not make that mistake or the surrounding cabins, they are under the kitchen and it sounds like you are under the bowling alley. Really Royal Caribbean should convert those cabins to storage because they are unfit for anyone to sleep in due to the noise level. Due to the noise level, we requested a room change and it was handled quickly and the young lady that helped was very understanding and quite competent. I was quite surprised to find that there were no printed deck plans available once you were onboard to put in your pocket. So I went and asked for a copy of one and I was given an overview of the desks and the public areas. Our most favorite area had to be the Adult Solarium. We took advantage of it almost the entire time onboard, especially on port days when we chose to stay onboard. There was ample seating but you did have to get there early on sea days and the sliding roof and windows made it a great environment just to relax in. They had 2 whirlpools and an adequate pool area; they also had a grill area with burgers, hotdogs, pizza, fries, cookies and fruit in the area during specific hours. They also had ice tea and lemonade to drink there so you didn’t have to over to the Windjammer if you wanted a bite to eat. We thought the entertainment was a little stale and it seems that the cruise line needs to take it up a notch to keep it fresh. I heard all the jokes before and the shows seem to be just a repeat of the ones I have seen on other ships but the Karaoke was fun. They had a Solo Guitarist in the Centrum area and a Family Trio which were extremely good and folks just hung out there to hear them play. The art showing were the traditional affair for Park West and I personally enjoy looking at nice pieces of art but that being said, I don’t go onboard to buy art. I certainly would not recommend that anyone buy art based on what they are told onboard without thoroughly checking out everything. The Enchantment is a lovely ship but they just need to improve on their food and bedding. Also, Royal Caribbean just improved their Crown and Anchor program so we did go ahead and reserve our next cruise but this time it will be on a newer Freedom Class ships, the Freedom of the Seas. If you are a frequent cruiser I definitely would recommend that you take advantage of their future cruise credit program and get an onboard credit when you book with a minimum deposit. Overall I wouldn’t consider it an enchanting experience but average, we give high points to the beauty of the ship, the itinerary, and the service staff was extraordinary. Pre-cruise - I originally booked airfare and transfers with my cruise but found a good deal on airfare so canceled the original and went down to Fort Lauderdale the day before. I HIGHLY recommend this if at all possible. I did this on my last cruise and it is so nice to relax and not have to worry about getting there the day of the cruise (I am SO glad I did not have the Thu cruise since there were airline troubles all morning and afternoon). I just hopped on a shuttle and got to the port around 10:45. Oh, I flew in from E to W so I got to see the Oasis just before landing. HUGE!!! Embarkation - Everything went pretty smooth. Got to the port around 10:45am. I had a little problem trying to figure out how to get to the check-in location after dropping off the luggage to the porter. There was a green line to follow but it was hidden by some baggage carts. I think I was onboard around 11:15am. Please note the bars were open but lunch does not start until 12 noon and they said the rooms would be available around 1:30pm. Meet & Greet - There is a section within this website for "meet & greets". RCCL does not support an official meet & greet for a 5-day cruise but we arranged to meet at the Scooner Bar. If you decide to go on a cruise, I highly recommend seeking this out. I have so much fun with the people I met on the boards. They really helped make the cruise awesome. Ship - The Enchantment is showing her age a little bit but she is still a wonderful ship. She is due to go into drydock in April 2010. Everything is really nice and clean. I have no complaints at all about it. Food - I felt the food was okay. I am a picky eater (meat and potatoes) and only ordered from the "alternative menu" one night (steak). I had no problems with the food I would eat. Shows - I enjoyed all of the shows they showed. I went to every one of them with no problems. I went on backstage tour and found out the shows had to "tone down" the productions during the Hurricane Ida period. The ship was experiencing 20 foot swells. Activities - I highly recommend "The Quest" and the "Love and Marriage Game". Both are hilarious!!!!! During the day, it was nice and relaxing and the band was nice. Overall, I really enjoyed this cruise. It was my first non-7 dayer but Grand Cayman and Cozumel are my favorite islands. It was wonderful! Read Less

We have take over 10 cruises in different Cruise lines. We booked a reposition cruise with Royal Caribbean on the Enchantment of the Seas. The cruise left from Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale in route to Panama with stops in Jamaica, Santa Marta-Colombia,Cartagena-Colombia and Puerto Limon-Costa Rica ending in Colon-Panama. We booked a Balcony cabin(7520) and since we arrived at the ship they were doing extensive maintenance work on our floor. The two cabins left to our were empty (7518) and (7516). The first morning of cruising I was waked up at 7:00am by a knocking noise on my room wall. I went to my balcony and there were maintenance crews working at the two empty cabins.They were replacing the balcony wood rails and taking all the rust from the metal areas. The also were doing some work inside both cabins.First I complained to the Guess Relations desk and they assured me that the work will stop. I went for a shore excursion and came back in the afternoon and they were still working. The third day I complained to the Guest Relation Manager by the name Rosa Torres, but nothing happened. One day the also replace the balcony wood rail of my cabin while I was on shore and they left the wood without any sanding or paint during the hole cruise. I wrote this on the final survey and after arriving home sent an E-mail to the CEO office and nobody ever wrote me back. That was it for me with Royal Caribbean, I just cancelled a reservation with them for 14 days Australia cruise for January 2011. Read Less

Check in was very good, we got to the pier at 11:00 am and was onboard by 11:45. I was disappointed that we did not get our picture taken boarding as I have done with every cruise, there were no photographers there. The food was the worst I have ever had on a cruise, consistantly bad in the main dining room. 4 of our dining companions ordered the steak from the menu that is the same every night and not one of them had even eaten half the steak, all said it was bad. It seemed as though their seasoning was only garlic, in everything. Our waitress and assistant waitress had no personalities and we only say our head waitress when she took our orders until the second to last night (of course, it was the night before tipping). Our cabin attendant was good and our cabin was well kept. We didn't use room service so I can't comment on that. The shows, well, they were not the best I have seen and the costuming was not the Las Vegas style that I am accustomed to seeing. However, there was a gentleman singing from New York and a girl (singer) from Indiana that were fantastic. Their careers should go far. The comedian was on the first night and didn't do the "adult only" show until the last night at 11:30 and most people had to pack and get up early so who wants to do that. He was great on the first night and I would have enjoyed seeing him again but the choice of nights was not good. The Piano bar was a lot of fun the first night but after that, the crowds were just not there. We stayed away from the Nightclub because they had a cigar smoking event there every night before it opened for dancing and I can't take cigar smell so I had to stay away. Very disappointed in that because we love to dance. I would not be in a hurry to go back on that ship but did enjoy the itinerary. I don't think on my last 2 Royal Caribbean cruises that they are at the standards they used to be, very disappointed. Read Less

This was our 19th cruise and 14th with the Royal Caribbean family. This is our 3rd time on the Enchantment in the past 12 months. Since we live in Pamana now, we have been on her doing the round trip cruises out of Colon, Panama that last two trips. This time, we couldn't pass up the $299 offer and were upgraded to an Outside cabin. We flew into Ft Lauderdale from Panama City via American the day before the cruise. We flew with another couple that our friends. Once we arrived in Miami and claimed our bags, we then went to the bus terminal. There we found the machine inside the terminal where you can buy Tri-Rail tickets. We purchased one way tickets for about $3.70 each to the Ft. Lauderdale airport station. It accepts cash or credit cards. You can only do one ticket at a time. If you pay with a $20, the change is in the new $1 coins. Just an FYI. We ended up waiting 10 minutes for the bus (Route 133). There is a Tri-Rail sign out side by the curb to show you where the bus will stop. The drive is about 10 minutes to the Tri-Rail station. Once there, the train was waiting. We walked on board. There is room for your pull luggage when you enter. A Tri-Rail staff member directed us where to put it. We kept our personal bags with us. It took about 35 minutes to get to the Ft. Lauderdale stop. From there, there is a bus that will take you to the Ft Lauderdale Airport and you can catch a shuttle bus to the hotels. We were tired and ready to get to the hotel so we took a cab from the station. There are many there. After tip it was $26 to the Embassy Suite on 17th St by the pier. Over all the experience using Tri-Rail to go between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale was excellent. We would do it again. Just make sure you know the timing between bus departures and train departures. We had a 10 minute wait and walked right on the train. You could wait 40 minutes for the bus then have a 45 minute wait for the train. http://www.tri-rail.com/ http://www.miami-airport.com/bus_and_rail_info.asp We stayed over night at the Embassy Suite on 17th Street. We have stayed here before. We love the location because there are so many restaurant and shops close by. Plus you are close to the pier. We ate at Bravo Restaurant which is on the other side of the street as you go towards the water way. It was very good and we enjoyed the nice dinner. In the morning we had an excellent hot breakfast at the Embassy Suite. They have a shuttle that takes you to the pier that you book with guest services. It was $14. A little high but convenient. We came down when we were ready and we were off to the pier. We arrived at 11 a.m. The RCL porters took our bags pointed us to the terminal and off we went. We walked right in. Being Diamond with RCL, the staff directed us to the express checkin lines. We walked right up and were checked in within 5 minutes. For standard check in, there wasn't much of a wait at all. We were on board by 11:20 and up to the buffet for lunch we went. Lunch was already ready and we saw several of our friends that were already on board. RCL does not allow you to your rooms until 1 p.m. They seal off the room halls with the fire doors. Right at 1, we headed to our room and put our bags in the room. Our rooms was fine. No issues with it. The ship was in good shape and looked even better since we had seen her in March of 2009. One note, they were doing a lot of work on her. To my knowledge that is normal on repositioning cruises. They were doing a lot of rail work (sanding and re-finishing) on the decks and in cabins. They were laying new carpet in the halls and common areas. Many rooms were receiving work as well. This is one of their only chances to have a ship that is about 50% full. The Enchantment will be going to dry dock at the end of April after it finishes the season in Colon, Panama and returns to Ft. Lauderdale. Personally, I found most of the ships public areas to be in very good condition especially with the age of the Enchantment. We really love the ship and the added space of stretching it 90' in 2005 really gives it a big ship feel. We really love the Centrum area. It is beautiful and they had wonderful music each evening. We were able to hear this because the Diamond area was on deck 4 in the Champagne Terrace. This was an excellent area to sit and socialize with other Diamond members before and after dinner. In fact, there were several of the Diamond Plus people that we knew that came down several nights from the Concierge Club to be with us. Based on our cruises we don't do the shows and we don't do most of the activities. We enjoy lounging around and reading through out the day. We do walk the ship for exercise and we enjoy the dinning part of cruising. This was the Repositioning cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Colon, Panama. We had 3 sea days and it stopped in Ocho Rio, Jamaica; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; Cartagena, Colombia; and Santa Marta, Colombia. We love Caragena. We have been to Santa Marta, Puerto Limon and Ocho so many times that we treat them all as sea days and we just stayed on the ship and had our pick of lounge chairs. We chose the early traditional dinning which we enjoy. We were at a table for 8 and we were all friends that live in Panama now. Our waiter was excellent. He knew what we wanted and liked after the first day. He worked his butt off to make it a great experience. The dinning room food was first rate and the lobster on lobster night was some of the best I ever had. In fact, I had 3 of them.... All cooked to perfection. Hot and tender.... HMMMMM.... The great thing on cruising is if you don't like something, they will try it again or get you something totally different. Lunches were in the Windjammer Cafe. They had a good selection every day and the old hamburger, hot dog and pizza stand by was there as well. Sea days you could do lunch in the dinning room but we never did. Breakfast is our least favorite on RCL. We like Celebrity better. The choice are fine but they are simple, uninspired and the same every day. You can get cooked to order omelets and eggs which were tasty. Nothing wrong with breakfast, just nothing to jump up and down about. Disembarkation was fast and efficient for us because we were Panama residents. Unfortunately, RCL kept most peoples passports and on the last sea day it was a huge fiasco getting them back. We were lucky that they did not collect ours. Upon leaving the ship, the Panama customs set up was very bad. They did not have enough people and it was very slow. You can't blame RCL for this. It was a Panama problem. Unfortunately this kind of thing is not uncommon in Panama. I know that other than the Tri-Rail info this might not have provided you the best review. This is probably my favorite ship. I love its style and charm. It fits my personality perfectly. It is showing some age and like all cruises it isn't perfect. Still it beats sitting at home or work in the winter.... :) If you want a fun, different experience, I truly believe you would find the round trip, 7 night cruise out of Colon a lot of fun. The itinerary is excellent and it is fun because most things are in Spanish (the staff and things are in English). It isn't your everyday Caribbean Cruise.... Happy Sailing Read Less

Okay, lets get the negatives out of the way first -- uh, lets see, negatives, well, I guess I've been on newer ships and Enchantment of the Seas could use a little freshening up, and I wasn't too impressed with some of the tours (when am I ever gonna learn to stop taking these things and just work something out in the port?) but other than that, I loved it. We had an inside cabin, deck 8 - quite comfortable, temperature control worked well, bathroom/shower a little cramped (aren't they always?) and enough storage. Generally happy with it, and the cabin crew took good care of everything. They could do a better job with laundry (suggest something to de-odorize aheets and pillowcases). No complaints.The food was terrific, every single meal....the crew members were friendly and accessible and helpful and we got to know a few of them quite well and I love the smallness of this ship. Didn't get lost, easy finding our way everywhere and did not feel overwhelmed. I want to rave about the Gemini Duo, two girls from Poland, twin sisters, who played wonderful music every evening on piano and violin, which was the perfect accompaniment to a pre-dinner sundowner in the salon. Easy on, easy off from the ship - greatly enjoyed Cartagena especially. The ship's private dining setup let us eat when we wanted, by ourselves, and the menus were never disappointing, with plenty of choices. We 6 enjoyed the Enchantment of the seas mid October for the Midwestern Fall Break long weekend. We were happy to find a quickie 4 nighter to Key West, Cozumel, and out of Fort Lauderdale. Since it was our 3rd cruise this year we decided to save some money and booked very inexpensive insider cabins (3 of them) on the second deck. Yes the menus are the same as the last 2 cruises on the Independence and the Serenade, so we knew what to get and what not to get, no lobster dinner or escargots. We had to send back one sirloin steak for a better one. Food is good. Not great, good. We were not allowed in Chops this cruise with well behaved children, as we were on the Alaska Serenade. Service was excellent. Kids club was not running as scheduled, very disappointing to 10 year old. Shows were good. Gym is small. This is a party cruise for floridians, evidently, who get on after a short work day Thurs and disembark and go to work Monday, those lucky dogs. Not as much for children to do as the larger ships, of course, and the kids club did not run as well, turned us away for lack of activities canceled or something on Sunday morning. Read Less

my wife and i would like to think we are avid cruisers. at least one a year for the last three years and twice this year. we however have a bad habit of going all out the first time and we expect to be great all the time. so this time we had to lower our expectation. i have learned that once you go big there's no looking back. we just got back from a 4 day cruise to key west/cozumel on the enchantment of the seas. like the title says; very relaxing but it wasn't fulfilling. by that i mean we went a smaller ship because of the not only the price but i had never been to key west before. i loved key west and i loved Cozumel. and the price for this cruise was great. but i wish this was on either a freedom class or a voyager class ship. we missed the promenade and the 24 hour coffee/pizza. we love coffee. i lose count after the 30th cup that's how much coffee we drink. therefore we missed the all you can drink coffee. sure you can buy a cup of coffee in the centrium area and go and people watch but that's what the promenade was for. that to me was my biggest complaint about this cruise. as for the ports. hey its key west. loved it. saw the famous bars, the statues, famous houses and few cats. lets not forget the furthest point south. the light house. and last but not least the original MARGARITAVILLE!!!!! Cozumel. wonderful! we highly recommend the Eco jeep tour by sunshine tours. if you get Jorge and Felix that is a plus for you. they were great. that excursion was well worth the money. in fact you get more than what you pay for. all the water you can drink. a lunch that they cook for you and did i mention that its all you can eat? most little beach excursions take you to a spot that has a few fish and the coral is on the verge of death from all the suntan solution we put on. not this excursion. beautiful fish, beautiful coral formations, sea turtles, large starfish, a wonderful site to behold. the entertainment could have been better. however the comedian they booked was great. the singing and dancing not so great. i felt the food was fabulous. as were the deserts. the staff was very helpful. the cruise director, well i thought he was OK but my wife thought he was hot. WHATEVER. the quest was probably the racist quest i have ever seen. WOW! i should have recorded it and put it on you tube oh well. the one thing that really stands out to my wife and i was that we didn't have to use our life jacket for the muster drill. that right! no life jacket. can someone explain that to me? all in all well worth the money just not a big enough ship. hey that can't all be the OASIS of the seas. My partner and I sailed on Enchantment of the Seas Nov 14- Nov 19, 2009. We have sailed this wonderful ship before and stayed in exactly the same cabin as last year. We have sailed with RCI 5 times, Celebrity 1 time(hopefully more to come) 4 times on Holland America and 1 bad cruise with Princess. We are not that thrilled about large ships, so Enchantment is a great fit for us. Our favorite cruises have been on Radiance of the Seas(twice) and HAL Zuiderdam. We live in Ft. Lauderdale, so it's a quick trip to the port. As usual, RCI does a teriffic job with check-in and we were on the ship in about 15 minutes. Headed up to the Windjammer for lunch. Everything was fine and there was a good selection, but the Windjammer at breakfast and lunch is just mediocore for us. Except for Radiance of the Seas which has an incredilbe Windjammer, our buffet experiences on RCI have just been ok. Radiance of the Seas is the only RCI ship that can properly cook fish. Stick with the other options if you can. Like Radiance of the Seas, Enchantment is a very happy, welcoming ship. The crew really go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and service rivals Celebrity in many ways. The ship was in better condition this year than we sailed her last year. She is still a lovely ship despite being 12 years old and has the absolute best pool deck of any ship we have sailed on. It is so spacious and the streching of the ship done in 2005 really adds a lot of extra space and architectural interest. We had a good cruise last year, but felt the lighting was too bright in places, especially the Centrum. They have changed the bulbs to more efficient ones and now the lighting is at a very nice level and does a better job showcasing the ship. This was our first RCI trip in which the retractable roof was open in the Solarium. It was so nice. We had exceptional weather on this cruise; not too hot, too cool or too windy. The Solarium is a very comfortable space but is the one area of the ship that could use some updating. Way too many plastic plants that should have been changed ages ago. We like the main pool deck at quieter times with just recorded music playing, but it gets too loud for us when the band plays and the activities are going on. We tend to go back and forth. We absolutely love that this ship has a full wrapping teak exterior promenade deck. In my opinion, all ships should have them. We love to spend time there listening to the relaxing sound of the ship cutting through the ocean. We found chairs on the back facing the ship's wake on a few occassions and that was really a great spot. Unlike Holland America and Celebrity where we feel really comfortable, we feel much more entertained on Royal Caribbean ships. Holland America has the best beds and the best buffet and is most nautical, but it's entertainment is almost non-existent. Celebrity's Production Shows were not good, but at least they had good musicians in other venues that lasted well into the night. We LOVE the Production Shows on Enchantment. Staging, singers, dancers and full orchestra were all exceptional. Last year on Enchantment the shows were great, but used a click track instead of the orchestra. The shows are still similar but they have been re-tooled to utilize the full orchestra and it provides an added dimension that other cruise lines cannot compete with. Bravo! By the way, we think the Orpheum theatre is the perfect size and is a beautiful room with a gorgeous hand-sewn curtain. It is the prettiest we have seen. We also love the My Fair Lady Dining Room. We went for lunch on both sea days (it's closed for lunch on port days). We got off to a bumpy start by having awful tablemates. It was a blessing in disguise because we switched to My Time Dining with a table for two at 8:45 and it was WONDERFUL! The staff went out of their way to please. They work hard here and it is a bit more hectic, but the food was always served HOT and perfectly cooked. The only other ship we have had hot food on was Celebrity Century. We were not able to get the same server, but we had three exceptional servers, Monna Lissa from Phillipines, Anthony and Vivek from India and Veronica from Romania was our assistant each night. We also found our server from last year's cruise. He remembered our faces but not our names and he came by to visit with us each night. He was really excited because he was going home and getting to spend Christmas with his family for the first time in a long while. Each night our server from the previous night came by to chat and they remembered our names and made us feel extra welcome. Not at all what we expected from pre-paid gratuities and My Time Dining. They really went out of their way and we had to get additional envelopes to give them all additional tips. We got sick of formal nights a long time ago, but there is no problem not wearing a suit to dinner. We looked nice is dress slacks and dress shirt and had no problems. We looked a whole lot better than many of the people at dinner on Formal night. We have decided we never want to pack a jacket on a cruise again. Who wants to wear work clothes on a cruise? Some would argue that we are cheapening the experience by not following protocol, but we dress well enough to fit in just fine. One tip I learned several cruises ago is to ask for a plate of vegetables if you like them as entrees come with very little. They bring out beautiful plates of fresh veggies. We were very impressed that they were hot and perfectly cooked and varied. Dessert selection was fine but so much that we had to have it. We avoided desserts on this cruise. Our last cruise on Celebrity Century the desserts were impossible to resist and I gained eight pounds! We had an inside cabin on deck 2 very near mid-ship elevators. Cabin was quiet and beds were comfortable. Enchantment still has squared off beds unlike the newer ships with the curved mattresses. We slept very well. We still do not understand why they use the curved mattresses on the newer ships. If you are anywhere close to tall it is hard to get both legs comfortable. We wish they would have beds like on Enchantment on all RCI ships. Though the cabin is smaller than on Radiance class ships, it is laid out very well with lots of storage. We actually think it has better closets and drawer space. Cabins have a tiny TV, but we only turn it on to have music playing while getting ready for dinner. To make up for the tiny TV, new movies are available at no cost unlike the approximately $12 they charge to watch an in-cabin movie on their other ships. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, for example, had not been released yet on DVD but was available in every language. As stated before, weather was perfect. It was the first time ever that I did not sweat in Grand Cayman. It was dry, sunny and about 82 degrees. We took a public bus for $2.50 each way to Sea Grape Beach and had a wonderful time. The sand and water here are spectacular. I had lots of fun swimming and playing in the water. Cozumel was also a nice day. We went to Paradise Beach which is a very clean, nice beach resort. Beaches in Cozumel cannot compete at all with Grand Cayman, but we have a good time here. For $10 each, you get a wristband that allows you to use floats, kayaks, and several water toys (two big, fun slides) water trampolines and an iceberg rock climbing wall. The float alone is the worth the $10 in my opinion. We are not sun lovers so we love that there is a nice selection of loungers in the shade as well as the sun. We get sun playing in the water and like to come back to the shade afterwards. Chairs and Umbrellas are free with consumption. They have nice selection of food and drink. There water is purified, but if you still worry they have GingerAle in a can. They have nice shows and changing rooms and are constantly keeping them clean. All in all, this was a wonderful cruise. As residents of Ft. Lauderdale, we are very sad to see her go. They took Radiance away from us to make room for Independence of the Seas and now Enchantment is going away so they can fill the new Oasis. After a winter sailing from Panama, she is going into dry dock and then heading to Baltimore for year round service. If you can easily access Baltimore by car or train, I highly recommend this ship. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the newer ships, but she provides an excellent vacation. The ship almost never feels crowded. We were docked between Celebrity Equinox and Oasis of the Seas when we returned. Equinox was BEAUTIFUL while Oasis was just an ugly behemoth, in our opinion. We never thought we would do a larger ship, but we are headed on the Liberty of the Seas in May 2010 and hopefully on the Celebrity Equinox in 2011. It's amazing how seeing the Oasis made us reconsider going on Liberty of the Seas. Liberty is huge but proportioned correctly. It will be an adventure. For exterior promenade lovers like us, Oasis does not have one. They have a narrow jogging track and that's it. Not for us, plus it is so expensive. So long beautiful Enchantment and I hope you thrive and continue to provide excellent vacation value to those in the Northeast for many years to come. Great Value and Outstanding Officers and Crew. My husband and I were celebrating our one year anniversary. Upon arriving to the port check in was very fast and we were on the ship in less than 15 minutes. We got something to eat at the windjammer and then put our stuff in our room. We sailed Halloween night and they had some great Halloween displays as well as trick or treating for the kids. The adult Halloween contest was full of people who participated and a blast. Paul and his staff did a great job handling it. Our room steward (Junior) was excellent and always kept our room in top condition. Our room was bit dated but otherwise quite nice. The only downside is we were right below the dining room so the smell of garlic in the afternoon was very strong. Also the night before departure they must have been preparing for then next day and were making a ton of noise. We did chops grille and it was the best I have ever eaten. Our servers as well as the rest of the employees were very attentive and helpful, even singing Happy anniversary to us. We loved it so much and plan to eat there again on our next cruise. The Pool areas here and the best I have ever seen. Plenty of chairs, large pool areas and drinks are readily available. This is the first cruise I have ever been on where it was not hard to get water or lemonade 24 hours. They were always set out and self serve. Very nice for non alcohol drinkers! The solarium (adults only) was very nice and relaxing. OUr last day it rained and they closed up the roof making it a pleasant experience. The windjammer is right off the pool area which is nice when it gets crowded. You can always find a seat in the pool area if there are no tables. We always had the omelets in the morning and went to dinner there a few times. They had an awesome mongolian bbq and sushi. The cruise director staff was excellent. We did quite a few activities (including the crazy game show quest) and always had a great time. The 70s dance party is a blast! They also had Revolution (Beatles band) and they were so good we saw them twice. A note: the first show is always the less crowded! We loved sitting in the balcony seats as they had couches and were very comfortable with good views The casino was great but they do allow people to smoke which is a huge turn off. Only went there a few times. We had a small problem with some alcohol missing (DO NOT GO TO BLACKBEARDS DUTY FREE LIQUOR IN GRAND CAYMAN) and a rep from Royal is going to go there to try to secure it from them when the ship docks there next. We did call Blackbeards when we got home and got an oh well. We put it on the ship... Always pay with credit card so you can get a refund from your company. We had a great time on this ship and ended up doing a lot more than normal. Everyone on this ship is excellent in helping and the food is really great. This is my 4th cruise with Royal and though we usually cruise on much bigger ships, we highly enjoyed the Enchantment. Read Less

I have been cruising since 1983 as a passenger on Carnival, NCL and Holland America. Although my husband and I are dedicated Holland America cruisers, we decided to give RCCL a try in order to expand our cruising options. From the moment we arrived at the pier for our November 14 Enchantment of the Seas cruise, we knew this was not going to be the kind of experience we had come to expect. We had to ask where to go to check in our luggage and ourselves as there was nobody to tell us how to proceed. Our Five night Western Caribbean cruise was to celebrate my husbands birthday. Despite mentioning this during booking and at least five times both in the dining room, on embarkation and in Chops Grille, no recognition was given. Not only was I struck by the lack of cabin amenities compared to every other cruise line I have traveled with but was terribly disappointed with the quality of the food and the extraorindary noise levels of the deck areas, but I found the process of getting towels the most annoying and cumbersome I have aspect of our trip. For a ship with 2000+ passengers, there was only one place distributing towels. A cabin card was required and towels had to be returned or a charge was applied to your cabin bill. I have never experienced such an inconvenience. While I also understand rewarding loyalty of dedicated and frequent passengers, RCCL seems to do so at the expense of all others. From reserving seats in the theater, to dedicated deck areas, and restricted public lounge areas each evening, I felt as though I was a second class passenger. If the idea is to provide an incentive for passengers to travel more frequently, I am afraid it is a system that will fail. Many of my fellow passengers expressed the same sentiment. While I am sure first time cruisers were impressed with the rock climbing wall and overall cruising experience, it has hard to imagine that anyone with an experience on Holland America, NCL or even Carnival would have rated this cruise better. One other curious event was the scheduling of a time zone change. We were instructed to move our watcheds back an hour a day early resulting inan hour's difference between ship's time and Grand Cayman local time. Many passenger's missed shore excursions and lost an hour on the Island. When pressed for the reason for doing the time change early, we were told it was because they didn't want us to have to change watches two nights in a row. A confusing reason. The Entertainment was the one highlight of the trip. Both the ship's performers and professional's were first rate. Show's were well paced and had a great variety. There was something for everyone and the only disappointment was that some shows weren't longer. We had a wonderful cabin Steward and our dining room server and assistant were top notch. Read Less

We recently returned from Enchantment of the Seas October 8th 4nt cruise. It was our very first on Royal Caribbean. We booked this cruise because it fit the time window we had available, we liked the itinerary (Key West and Cozumel), and the price was great! First off, let me say that we both really liked the ship. Enchantment is very, very pretty. I especially thought that the Orpheum theatre was lovely. The atrium was really nice, but it was always full, so we didn't get to spend time there. Every public area seemed to be very well-maintained, and I was impressed that you could even see they were beginning to repair the outer hull damage caused by the "attack" of the Carnival Legend LOL! Our inside cabin (2623) was really small, but very nice, with plenty of drawer space (way more than we needed for 4 days!) and closet space. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but it wasn't the worst, either (Princess has the WORST beds!!!) I must say, it was heavenly to be on a completely non-smoking deck, by virtue of RCI's smoke-free cabins! Bless you, Royal Caribbean! I was unpacking our stuff, and realized to my shock that there was one drawer FULL of women's unmentionables! Also, in one of the behind-the-mirror shelves, there were other items the previous cruisers had forgotten. This was a definite first for us; in 28 cruises, we've never found stuff left behind by others (eek). We bagged it all up and took it to guest relations. (in hindsight, we should have turned it over to our cabin steward, but hindsight's 20/20, right?) Speaking of our cabin steward, he was a really nice guy named Dennis from Costa Rica. He did everything in his power to make us comfortable and happy, bringing us bathrobes, extra towels, refilling the shampoo, extra bags for our laundry... he was a sweetie! We had My Time Dining, and it worked out great for us. We visited the head waiter on day 1, and requested a standing reservation for a 7:15 pm table for 2. Poof! Our wish granted, and we had a great waiter & assistant waiter each evening. We learned quickly that we should heed the waiter's recommendations for what to order. When we ordered the "right" things, they were great; when we went off and ordered something else, we regretted it. The Windjammer Cafe was really hit-or-miss, but we sure didn't starve. Some days, it was really hard to find two seats to have breakfast. We only ate one lunch there, the first day when we boarded; after that, we sort of grabbed hot dogs & fries or something & went outside one deck above the pools to eat. That brings me to the pools...What a lovely pool area! Too bad they're not really doing anything to keep people from bringing their diapered infants into the pools! At least they've figured out a pretty good deterrent to chair hogs with the towel check-out (and the $20 fine for not turning in towels!) Chair hogging seemed to be a minimal problem. Noise was a maximum problem, so DH & I spent most of our sun-time up in the front of the ship, by the bungee-trampolines, that were almost never in use. It was roomy, peaceful & quiet, except for those INFERNAL Bingo announcements that seemed to come blasting out of nowhere. The entertainment was good-to-very good. The absolute best show we've seen at sea consisted of the kids in the children's program all dressed & acting as pirates, crawling with their little paper knives & swords in theirs mouths down the aisles up to the stage in the Orpheu theater. They put on the cutest, most entertaining show EVER! They were obviously REALLY into what they were doing, and bravo to the staff who had worked with them to orchestrate this whole thing! It was just adorable! We loved it; it was a highlight of the cruise. One "entertainment" thing that we found really quest-ionable was "Quest", the bawdy, raunchy gameshow that is evidently very popular with the vast majority onboard, but we felt it was way more denigrating than it was entertaining, and we left after about 10 minutes, when the gameshow host called for "RED PANTIES, I NEED A PAIR OF WOMEN'S RED PANTIES!!!" I was standing there wearing a red dress, with bare legs & high heel sandals, and another female passenger came up and asked me: "Do you have red panties????" Okay, that was enough.... One other thing about this cruise that was different was how few people really dressed for formal night. My husband wore his tux with tails & white tie (he was lookin GOOOOOOOD :), and I wore a black & beige lace gown. I don't think there were 5 other couples we saw all evening that were really dressed formally. Oh, well, it sure made US look smashing :) I would go on another Royal Caribbean cruise myself, but my husband wants to stick with Celebrity or Holland America, for the better food. This is my fifth RCCL Cruise and 12th overall cruise. Overall I evaluate very honestly, but fairly. On a ten point scale, ten being perfect and zero being the worst possible, this cruise will be about a 4. Bad points: The meats, chicken, fish and other main entrees were served dry. So dry that even sauces didn't save them. No more mints on the bed, guess that is now Royal's price cutting measures in place. The plastic RCCL bag on the bag of the cabin door was removed by the cabin steward on the second day - again, guess the cruise line is saving a few pennies. The breakfast was exactly the same selection of foods each morning - no change up. Mirrors in the bathroom are glazed over. Air ionizer/purifier ran constantly in the hallway. The Embarkation was relatively smooth, but the RCCL Employee whisked me into the line for general admission and did not allow me to state that I was a Platinum member. But the line was only three couples deep. The events at night time were double stacked, meaning frequently there were two or more activities scheduled at the same time - Is Royal the only cruise line doing this? The on-board Internet service is slower than dial up - one person said it took them nine minutes for one webpage to load. I checked it out by going to RCCL's website and it is v e r y slow - very very very slow. On Sunday, the ship lost Satellite reception during the afternoon and for several hours there weren't any football games. The jogging track was closed early - should provide someplace for people to walk at night. The ping pong/table tennis area needs to be moved away from the Solarium. The kids were loud, rude, and shown no respect by hitting the balls into the Solarium, but did not retrieve them. The Casino was smoke free for all nights but the last one. Originally was hoping that RCCL decided the health of the majority of their patrons was more important than a few smokers. Good Points: Cabin Steward Rachel did a perfect job keeping the cabin clean. Again, Rachel left a different Towel Animal each night. Other recent RCCL cruises would only have one animal on the bed. Our server at the 8:30 PM Table 105 seating was a perfect gentlemen and provided recommendations. No bad odors detected. The shops looked exquisite. The ships entertainment staff did a great job trying to get everyone involved in having a good time When asking for advise or information from others, I always ask them "would you do it again?" My response for going on this ship is, regretfully, no. Read Less

Background: Previous cruises on HAL, NCL, Princess and (ancient history) Costa and Sun Lines. First cruise on RCCL. Preferred cabin: Aft Suite, but on this cruise, chose a starboard Owners Suite due to great deal and timing of the voyage. (Birthday) New Terminal: Departing on 10/26, we were the first passengers to embark on a cruise from the new terminal 18. The terminal is being prepped for Oasis' arrival in November. It's a lovely facility with tons of space, but oddly enough, only 1 lady's room tucked in the far rear corner. When there are 5000 passengers flowing through for boarding, this may be a problem. Possibly because it was the 'shake down cruise' for the terminal, the lady's room didn't appear to be attended and was rapidly becoming messy, even at the early boarding time. Boarding process: WOW! Arrived around 10:45 and flew through the whole checkin process. Upon boarding, there were RCCL reps at the entry, but they weren't really greeting guests and provided no directions. On previous cruises the welcoming staff typically provide a map or layout of the ship as folks are boarding and since this was my first time on the Enchantment, I could have used it. BUT there, were nicely detailed models of the ship on each floor at the elevators and that helped. Followed the flow of others and headed for the pool deck. Enjoyed my first boat drink by 12 and chatted with folks until the rooms were ready at 1. Room: Another WOW! The Owners Suite is nicely laid out with more storage that a family of four could use! The cabin looked and smelled fresh with a lovely large bathroom, the bed area to the right, closets and desk area to the left. Past that was the 'L'-shaped sofa and off to the right a dining table with comfy barrel style chairs. Along the right wall was the entertainment center, bar area (complete with small fridge). Both the living and bedroom areas have televisions (tube style), but there was an interesting quirk. Because of the mirrors over the desk, when you turned on the bedroom set with the remote, the living room set on the opposite wall also came on. If you turned off the living room TV and later used the remote to turn off the bedroom TV, the living room television would come on. Neville, the WONDERFUL steward, showed me how to point the remote into the mirror over the bed to turn the TV on and off without also impacting the living room set. Balcony: Very nice sized with two loungers with a table between them and two chairs with a larger table between them. I spent many hours enjoying the ocean sliding by. Suite perks: This is where I noticed the main difference between RCCL and HAL/Princess/NCL. On the plus side: the room was large with areas for lounging, lunching, and sleeping. The bathroom featured both a glass shower and a nice sized whirlpool tub. Nicest touch was access to the concierge lounge. While I never visited during the evening happy hour, I did make liberal use of the coffee machine for multiple lattes during the day/evening, and a place to enjoy a quiet continental breakfast each day. Missing perks (compared to the other lines) included a welcome bottle of wine/champagne, flowers and a beach towel to use. There was one bottle of Evian water provided. NOT a make or break, but just a little less 'special' than some of the other lines. Also missed having wireless internet in the suite. There were hotspots around the central atrium, but not in the cabin areas. Steward: Neville was wonderful! I never had to ask for ice - it was always there. He left towel animals every night along with a dish with two chocolates. There are folks who pooh-pooh the towel animals - I enjoy the giggle they always provide me. He was always pleasant and helpful with a big smile and a greeting when I saw him in the passageways. The room was always nicely touched up with plenty of towels as needed. Dining: Each meal was enjoyable and the food tasty. I enjoyed several meals in the Windjammer and found the selection to be very nice, hot or cold as appropriate, salads varied and fresh. Desserts were just the right size and I always found something appealing to end the meal. What I miss the most now that I'm home: the breads! The rolls and breads were wonderful! I didn't do breakfast (except croissants and fruit in the concierge lounge) so can't comment on eggs, pancakes, etc. I enjoyed lunch a couple of times in the main dining room, but was a little discouraged by the unchanging lunch menu. I had My Time Dining and was seated by myself on some visits, and at larger tables on others. Both were pleasant. The food was consistently tasty - again - hot or cold as appropriate. The servers were all timely, professional, and outgoing. Michelle stands out along with her partner JoeFred (I hope I got that close to right.) Yummo Award: Prime rib - enjoyed it both the first and last nights. Nicely portioned and prepared. Chops: Very nice experience. Entertainment: I usually don't attend shows, but changed my pattern for this cruise. I enjoyed both of the production shows and the Beatles tribute band, Revolution. The theater is a nice size, but does fill up relatively early - particularly in the center section. Didn't see a lot of 'seat saving', though. The balcony was really warm (hot!) in the center section, but cooler along the sides. Main floor was more comfortable. If you want to get a good seat, plan on being in the theater 20-30 minutes before the show starts. The servers offering beverages are plentiful, but not pushy. Spa services: For the first ever, used none of the services. I usually get one or two massages, but was put off by the price of the hot stone massage (my favorite). It was listed at $195 with others being in the $129-$139 range. I would have booked a deep tissue or shiatsu but the attitude of the one person I talked with on boarding day was 'these are the fleet wide prices - take it or leave it." I didn't get that welcoming, come relax with us vibe, so decided to just pass this time. Casino: Had a lovely evening playing roulette - went up by 100%, but when I went back down to my original stake, pocketed it and went home. Overall ship: Nicely laid out and easy to navigate (excuse the pun!). Didn't spend much time poolside so no comment on number or availability of chairs. The Centrum offers live entertainment throughout the day and evening. SO nice to walk by and hear a violin soloist or piano, or guitar playing. Really enjoyed the 'Village People'/disco evening - everyone seemed to be really into it! Itinerary: Loved Key West - took the Conch Train tour then just wandered on my own. Wish we'd had longer at this port. Cozumel - it's Cozumel. Probably should have booked a beach excursion, but just wanted to enjoy wandering at my own pace. Belize - LOVE the Wet Lizard and was glad to have the opportunity to go back. Shrimp ceviche and margaritas - that's the life! On board activities: Only tried one and decided to skip other 'opportunities'. I've always wanted to learn to scrapbook since it's so popular. The "adult scrapbooking' activity was essentially a kindergarten activity. Were provided a piece of construction paper, some cut out shapes and pointed to tubs of glue sticks and pens. The person 'leading' the activity indicated that she probably couldn't answer questions and spent most of the time chatting with another crew member. Overall: Everyone was helpful and pleasant - even the ladies straightening the chairs in the Internet cafe late in the evening. Wish there were more proactive information provided (port maps/guides) in the Compass, map of the ship, etc. I know that many of the passengers are returning RCCL/Enchantment travelers, but there are also many first time cruisers who sometimes seemed lost. One of the couples I had dinner with didn't even know about the main dining room until the 3rd night! Rated slightly lower on the "value for price' section of the evaluation only because I think that other lines provide more suite perks than did RCCL. I'm not a snob, I just work really hard 50 weeks of the year and look forward to the total 'pampering' experience that typically comes with the full suite category. I have cruised many times in the past 10 years but not in the past 5 so I turned to my "preferred" cruise line when a quick and easy getaway was called for this past month. Living in South Florida I have a choice of itineraries and ships but chose the Enchantment for the length (5 days, not too long, not too short) and the fact that it only had one sea day -- I prefer to be out and about on shore. I knew full well that the Enchantment, while stretched and refurbished a short 4 years ago, was still an older ship without a lot of the bells and whistles of the newer ones, therefore I set reasonable expectations based on the age and ship class. Going in parts: Cabin: The room was small -- no surprise there -- but manageable. The cabin attendant was terrific. The upholstery was stained and very worn. The drawers were cracked and dirty in places. Time for an update. Food: Having cruised RCCL many times previously, I found the quality to have slipped a bit. Portion sizes in the MDR are small, but then again, with all the food available the individual portion size really is a non-issue. The menu is relatively uninspired. Prime rib was on the menu two nights, but the first night it was the size of the palm of your hand so it was a bit misleading. There were many rich quiches and vegetable tarts which seems to be a remnant of a 1980s menus. Starches tend to be the ubiquitous mashed potatoes. There was a lobster tail on the last night (not the formal night) but it was very small. You can have two and if you are a lobster fan you may want to as they are very small. We did go to Chops one night. It is a great value overall, but the filet was overcooked (I ordered it medium rare) and overly salty. I like salty food so for me to say it was too salty was something. I could not eat more than 1/3 of it due to the salt and overcooking. In retrospect I should have sent it back... Entertainment: The in-house musical acts are kitschy, but that is to be expected. Otherwise, there was a comedian, musician and a Beatles cover band. I think that on the 5-day cruises you are less apt to get name acts than on 7-day cruises and longer. Service: No issues with the waitstaff or cabin attendant, but I did have an onboard credit due to a price drop that was not honored on board. Fortunately I had the name of the person I spoke to at RCCL's customer service department as well as his name. However, even with that information, they refused to honor it. The corporate office did not want to honor the price drop credit issued by its authorized customer service representative despite all my supporting information. I had to waste a good half hour at the customer relations desk on 4 out of the 5 days of the trip fighting for my credit. I ultimately got it, however the entire situation was handled poorly by guest relations and this issue marred what was otherwise a nice trip overall. Ports: Ports are what you make of them. To each their own so no comment here other to say that the ruins at Lamanai in Belize were interesting, albeit a very long trek there and back. Activities: I don't tend to participate in many shipboard activities as I go into port but on the sea day I actually went to an activity that was printed in the cruise compass as well as announced on the loudspeaker. Despite all that, no one from the cruise staff showed up to run the activity. I spoke to 2 cruise director staff members in the area and no one seemed to be able to explain why the activity person was a no show nor did they make much effort to lift up a phone to find out. I even went to the guest relations desk and they were like a deer-in-headlights. After 40 minutes, I just walked away from that meeting area - without ever having gotten an explanation of why they didn't run that activity. Other people came and left as well. Overall: For a quick getaway this trip ticked all the boxes, just don't expect a shiny new ship with innovative features, new upholstery or inspired activities or food. There were lots of out-of-towners, but for a local this quick cruise was fine, easy and inexpensive, albeit nothing truly memorable. The problems I experienced will definitely cause me to take a closer look at Carnival, HAL, or Princess next time my vacation plans call for cruising. (For what it is worth, I heard many a complaint when I was waiting to disembark as well as the many times I was on line during my cruise trying to get them to honor the credit.) Read Less

Embarkation was great. We drove down from Atlanta and arrived early, around 11:00 AM, and were greeted with smiles. We were eating lunch in the Windjammer by 11:30. At 1:00 sharp we went to our room. Our luggage arrived shortly after. We decided to participate in the "My Time Dining" program. You can choose to dine anytime between 6:00 and 9:30 pm each evening. We really liked out waiter (Putu) and assistant waiter (Jose), so we opted to have dinner at the same two person table each night. Dinner in the formal dining room was great--the difficult part was narrowing down exactly which appetizer, etc, that we wanted! I can't say I ate anything that wasn't good...most was delicious! My favorite main course was the lobster and shrimp...and the prime rib...and the list goes on! I loved every appetizer I ate...and the desserts were fantastic! I skip salad, no need in filling up on something I can eat every day at home! By the way, we took the stairs to keep from gaining weight :-). It worked, I lost a pound. RCL has revamped their menus since we sailed last year, there are several new options. This ship is beautiful. It's very tastefully decorated and it looks almost new. There is very, very little evidence that she hasn't been refurbished since 2005. It's the smallest ship we've sailed on out of nine (9) cruises. We loved this boat! With the exception of limited shopping as on the larger ships--I really missed Sorrento's too(Freedom and Liberty of the Seas). This was our first 5-day cruise also, we normally sail 7 days. We were pleasantly surprised--five days felt sufficient. We also expected this "smaller" ship to be tossed about a little more by the motion of the ocean--it was at least as calm feeling of the larger ships! Day 2 was spent lying on the pool deck taking in the gorgeous Caribbean sunshine. The pool deck chairs really didn't fill up early, though we took a book and got there around 9:00 AM. It does fill up around 11 though. We decided to take in a few trivia shows in the afternoon. Those are always a blast, and we very much enjoy them. Day 3: Our first port was Grand Cayman. We took a taxi van for $2.00 to each to Seven Mile Beach (Sea Grape), and snorkeled, which was lots of fun. There is no charge to use the beach, and we brought our own snorkel gear. We also brought along a $3.00 float to blow up and lay on at the beach--which we gave to someone else when we left. The weather was incredible, the seas were gorgeous, and the fish were plentiful and colorful...paradise! We left the beach around noon and went back to the ship to change clothes. We then did a little shopping around town. There's a great little shop near the pier where you can use a phone free if you simply make a purchase. I cannot remember the name of it, but it's up a flight of stairs on the second floor of a building. Our second port was Cozumel. We've been there several time, so decided to just walk around town--we took a taxi with a couple we met at the pier. Keep in mind that the taxi service is $7.00 for 1-4 people...so we usually find a couple of others to ride with to save money. I wish I could remember the name of it, but cannot--there is a delicious pastry shop a couple of blocks to the left of the main little square (on the same row as the large yellow building behind the outdoor stage area). We enjoyed a custard filled doughnut that was awesome. Will definitely have another when i return in December for my next cruise! The entertainment of this cruise was great as well. Their Broadway-style entertainment rivals the larger ships. The magician was really good...and we were honored to get to see the 1950's group "The Coasters" perform. It was exceptional! We did notice that they have cut back on some of the fringe benefits of being a Crown and Anchor member. They coupon books aren't the same as last year--they seem to be more of an incentive to spend money, 25% discounts off some stuff, etc. In the welcome back party, they only offer champagne now, rather than wine and mixed drinks of the past. Also, there was no "gift" for being a returning member as in the past. We opted for an inside room--we spend very little time in there anyway. We have had ocean view and balcony rooms, but would rather spend the extra money on board or doing an excursion. One thing negative about their room was the tiny tv...the smallest of any ship we've sailed on...but I wasn't there to watch tv anyway :-)! Overall, we love Royal Caribbean and look forward to sailing with them again in the future. Read Less

We just returned from a 5-night cruise which included Grand Cayman Island and Cozumel, Mexico. The Enchantment of the Seas is a beautiful ship. Our inside cabin on the fourth level was fine for the two of us. The mattress was firm but very comfortable. The room was small but fine considering we literally just slept and dressed there. It was a bit cold, but I was finally able to manage the temperature control. We had more than enough closet and drawer space for a small cabin. Our stateroom attendant was very pleasant and kept the place spotless for us. The safe in the room was very handy. The bathroom definitely needs some sprucing up, the mirrors are losing their silver backing, the cabinet doors did not close properly, the little garbage pail was rusting and each time I lifted the lid to the toilet, there was a distinct smell of urine which did not go away even though our room attendant cleaned it constantly. I was happy to see the available hair dryer; and was surprised that it was not attached to a wall, but just laying in a drawer for anyone to remove from the room if they so desired. The Windjammer Cafe was great for breakfast and lunch; you could get in and out quickly or spend time eating and chatting. Tables were always available; food was abundant with a nice selection and very tasty for buffet food. Water, coffee, tea, iced tea and lemonade were free. There was a problem with the ice and water dispensers for a few days of our cruise. We always ate dinner in the My Fair Lady dining room at the 6 PM seating. We asked to be placed at a large table with other cruisers and were truly fortunate to have such a wonderful mix of people at our table. It definitely added to our cruise experience and made dinner an event in itself that we looked forward to each evening. The food selections were wonderful. The food was beautifully presented and the portions were small to average, but more than enough once you added in your appetizer and dessert. Our waiter Debanjan, and assistant waiter, whose name escapes me, were superb - another plus for our dining experience. When poolside, we spent most of our time at the Solarium pool - more of an adult only area - quieter , with no loud music. My only wish was for more available lounge chairs as there were not enough for all the people in that area. We attended all of the evening shows that were presented and enjoyed each one tremendously. Our passion is disco dancing so we headed for the Viking Lounge each night. The DJ was great and played our requests. We have two complaints regarding this area: 1. We were disappointed that smoking was allowed in the Viking Lounge and 2. The dance floor was very small and is composed of sections of tile and metal. The floor was not very smooth and level allowing you to trip up on the unevenness of the materials. Although our overall experience was great, I was very disappointed that Royal Caribbean did not prepare us for, acknowledge or apologize for the fact that on two nights we had no water in our cabin bathrooms. Some people said it was throughout the ship, but we later learned that it was the lower levels. It appears that the crew was attempting to repair a leak in the pipes. Needless to say it was an inconvenience. Again, I am sure this was just an unusual situation. Overall it would not keep me from returning to Royal Caribbean for another cruise vacation. Read Less

There were a lot of great things on this cruise - the food, the ports, the friendliness of other cruisers, and the service. There were a couple of things that were somewhat annoying - the constant photography during the first 2 days, our room being a meat locker, and the crowds in the pool during the day. Sunday - Our gang of four (me, DH, my mom and dad) arrived at the Fort Lauderdale airport before 3 PM. We booked our air and hotel independently. We retrieved our bags and called the Hampton Inn where we booked a room. Included in the price was complimentary transportation from the airport to the hotel and the next morning to Port Everglades. Monday - At 10:45 AM, our van picked us up. We made arrangements for them to pick us up at the port to take us to the airport on Saturday. We arrived, tagged our luggage, breezed through security. The line to get our SeaPass took a few minutes and it was fairly warm in the terminal. The last thing to do was get our picture taken. By noon, we were onboard, eating in the Windjammer cafe. There wasn't a seat in the cafe (already a number of people on board!), so we sat outside (which was pretty hot without a breeze). We walked around the ship, trying to figure out where everything was. I would have a time finding my way around on the larger ships. The Enchantment looked pretty good for an older ship. The only problem we noticed during our cruise was the pools were too small for a ship with 2,300 cruisers. They were packed during the hot afternoons and on the sea day. We checked into our cabins in the late afternoon and watched a rainstorm hit. We completed our muster drill (short drill, but the heat wasn't pleasant). DH & I went to the Viking Crown Lounge (the highest bar on the ship with a great view) and had a before dinner drink. I discovered the Drinks of the Day were really the best deal, at $5 a drink. Alcohol is pretty expensive on the ship. Dinner was good, the service great, the ship photographers annoying. I had the prime rib, which was okay, but not fantastic. The Vidalia Onion Tart as an appetizer was awesome. Dessert didn't stand out, can't recall what I had. Our waiter, Raj, and the assistant waiter (can't recall his name, dang it) did an excellent job the entire cruise. From what I saw, all of the waiters gave fantastic service. DH & I meandered about the boat and went to the Solarium hot tub while mom & dad went to the show. Tuesday - We woke up pretty early to get a good start on our Key West day. Ate at the breakfast buffet in the cafe (was good, lots of variety), then walked off the ship and was assaulted by a pirate for a picture. Mom & dad decided not to join us on our journey to the southernmost point (a good 1 ¼ miles, coupled with hot weather is not appealing to some), so they went on the Conch train to see the town. We took our touristy pictures, walked back up Duval Street and had a beer at Sloppy Joes. We bought a few souvenirs, then headed back to the boat. We ate lunch at the main dining room, which was excellent. I had the chicken and wild mushroom pasta. Everyone said that the salad was the best, but I wasn't quite in the mood for a salad. We had very good company at our table. We cleaned up for formal night. The gang of four had a pre-dinner drink in the Viking Crown, where there was no one. I had the roasted duck and lobster bisque which were fantastic. Dessert again was a bit lackluster. Mom really wanted formal pictures taken, so we did. They headed to the show, DH & I walked around the boat and headed to the Solarium again. I think this is when I noticed the room being the temperature of a meat locker. Adjusted the thermostat, nothing happened. The A/C was constant - never once kicked off. Just had to snuggle closer to DH for warmth. Wednesday - We ate breakfast at the cafe, then packed our backpack with fresh towels and bathing suits for a day at Paradise Beach. We walked off the ship around 11 AM and got our picture taken with a sailor and a parrot. Walked through the Cozumel port area with people trying desperately to get your attention to buy their wares. Ran into mom & dad who decided to go back to the ship and lounge in the pool when no one was in it. We got in a short line for taxis and discovered a couple in front of us was headed to Paradise Beach too. We split the cab fare ($15 a cab) and headed to the beach. It was excellent. Free entrance, cold beer, good nachos, warm surf, great view, comfy chair and umbrella. We started a conversation with a couple from Manchester, England. We split a cab back to the ship with them. We would see them several more times during the cruise. When getting back on the ship, a storm was quickly approaching. We cleaned up and watched from our room some stragglers getting back on the ship. The rain hit, and the plank had to be moved because of the wind, I'm guessing. These folks were pretty angry at being denied boarding. Now, from the looks of things, I'm also guessing that quite a few of these folks had been partaking in the fine Cozumel drink. We felt a hard rock, much more than usual. DH & I both assumed it was the wind. The squall went away, and the soaked revelers were allowed on the ship. The captain (whose Norwegian accent was thick, so couldn't understand 90% of what he said) came on the intercom and told us they were assessing some damage around the water line. What? Coming up to dinner, a couple was talking about a ship hitting us. We asked, and yes, one of the Carnival ships also in port had smacked into us, causing a dent in the Carnival ship, but we appeared to be okay. Wow! Excitement on the high seas! Dinner was excellent. I had the scallop risotto, lamb shank with rosemary, and tiramisu. Our dinner entertainment was our waiters singing "O Sole Mio" (and it was noted that the waiters hail from 40 different countries, but none were from Italy). DH & I did our nightly walk around the boat, while the 'rents went to the show. Thursday - We woke up early to get one of the first tenders off the boat to Belize. We ordered room service, which turned out to be a wise idea. We were off at 8:45 AM. Belize has rainforest excursions or scuba diving, and that's about it. We ported, and had a bit of trouble finding the pickup spot for cave-tubing.com. Found our tour and was off at 9:15 AM. Our tour guide, was very friendly, chatty and funny. We boarded a larger bus outside the city and headed to the rainforest. Sadly, there's not much to see in Belize City. The place appeared extremely poor, dirty, and the place was flooded. Our tour guide informed us there were two seasons, dry and rainy. We were in the obviously in the rainy season. Our tour guide passed around some cashew wine for us to try. It was very different. :D We arrived at our site an hour later. We changed into our swimming suits and got a head lamp and tube. The tour guides took the tubes from the ladies and carried them to the river. Who said chivalry is dead? We walked through the jungle for about 40 minutes. By the time we got to the river, that cold water was heaven. We linked up in a chain and floated to the cave. Yes, there were bats. We floated for an hour or so down the river. We dried off, changed into our dry clothes, and ate at free lunch of stewed chicken, rice, and coleslaw. It was either pretty good, or I was starving. :D We bought Belizean beer and cashew wine while there. The Belikin beer sort of tastes like Red Stripe. We made it back to the ship in plenty of time (3 PM). Not sure if I ever want to go back to Belize, unless I take up scuba diving. We ate a snack in the Windjammer, then went to the room to take a nap. Dinner was again excellent. I had the beef and veal tortellacci, tilapia, and a three chocolate dessert. Our dinner entertainment was our waiters dancing. We decided to check out the Schooner bar (a piano bar), and we found our friends from Cozumel. They went to dinner, and we walked around the ship a bit before retiring. Friday - This was a sea day, so we slept late, ate breakfast late. We found chairs in the shade by the pool area. We watched the belly flop contest, then ate a little lunch. Sometime during the pool volleyball tournament, I fell asleep. Vacation is hard. We went down to the cabin, filled out luggage tags and a customs form. For dinner, I opted for the wild mushrooms in puff pastry, scallops and ziti, and a varied chocolate dessert. All was really good. We went to the Schooner Bar, saw our Cozumel friends again. They went to a late dinner, but would be back. We decided to actually go see a show. I was entertained for a bit, but it was nothing special. I would have liked it more if I were a fan of musicals. Mom & dad said that the previous shows were excellent. We went down to our cabin and tagged our luggage, placed them outside the door for pickup. We went back to the bar and had a great time. We went to the next lounge over and danced a bit. We went back to the piano bar sing along with our new lot of friends. Saturday - Our debarkation was pretty flawless. Went to the cafe to eat a quick breakfast, went back down to the cabin to finish packing our carry on, and began to the ship at 9:45 AM. The line looked to be long, but we were processed pretty quickly. We found our transportation we had arranged on the first day and was back at the airport by 10:30 AM. We milled around a bit, went through Security Theater, got on the plane at 1 PM. We were back at our house at 6 PM. Not bad at all. We had a fun time. Read Less

This was our 3rd cruise and 1st on RC. Overall we were pleased and had a great time, but I was annoyed at a few things. I realize that cruise ships make most of their money while guests are on board. My husband and I are more than happy to purchase bottles of wine at dinner and drinks while at the pool, and being from NYC, we think the prices are reasonable - in fact some seem cheaper than what we are used to. This cruise I was annoyed about 80% of the time - I was approached by every waiter while at the pool - even when I would have a full or nearly full drink in my hand. I don't remember being this annoyed on my other cruises. At one show in the theater a waiter literally stood next to my husband the entire show and as soon as his drink was low, he would say to him 'Mr. Michael' (using his first name, which I thought was rude - our last name is an easily pronounced name) can I get you another? While it was nice to have the waiter on stand-by, it was annoying to have him hoovering over us like that. Another thing that annoyed me were the organized pool activities. I am sure some people loved it - they were often crowded and people seemed to enjoy it. My husband and I like to sit close to the pool, so we were subject to hearing the staff on the microphone doing various contests, etc. One contest, Mr. Enchantment of the Seas, was over an hour long. It was very annoying. I guess we could have moved, but we were already set up and had good chairs, so I didn't want to. At times the contest was funny but 60 minutes of it was just too much. The ship had a lot of activities to offer and we didn't participate in many. Sea days we slept late and enjoyed the pool and port days we went off the ship. We went to all the shows in the theater and everything was great - funny comedians, great musicians, and a fun production show. The 2 other cruises we went on had several productions, this only had one. I think it was due to the short length of the cruise. We also went to see various musicians at various bars on board and all were great. The casino allowed smoking - only 1 night of the 5 nights was smoke free - I thought it should have been at least 3.... so it was very smokey, which I don't like, so we only had the tolerance to play for a little while. We had an inside stateroom, which we had on a previous ship, and we are not at all bothered by the darkness. We have an infant at home, and this trip was to celebrate our anniversary, so we were more than happy to sleep late and relax. Our room was in the front of the ship and sometimes we would hear very loud cranking sounds - it wasn't related to ports, but maybe it was related to the speed? Maybe we were speeding up or slowing down for some reason? It wasn't all the time, it happened maybe 4 times during our trip. But, if given the chance, get a cabin in the rear of the ship! Our room was always clean upon our return from the pool/ports. Our stateroom attendant was nice. He did a nice job. One side note, we would see him often in the hallway upon returning and he would be polite, ask about our day, etc. but never opened the door. On a previous cruise, any time we saw our attendant in the hallway, he would open the door for us as soon as he saw us approaching, which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, we were happy with both the attendant and the room. Our first night on the ship we went to Chops - the speciality steakhouse on board. I had the fillet mignon and it was perfect. My husband had the NY Strip and he was not happy. He had asked for it to be cooked rare and it was closer to medium well (he hates sending food back, so he just ate it) it was also a very fatty piece of meat. The appetizers, side dishes, and desserts were all excellent. We chose 'my time dining' and on the second night, I called in the afternoon to make a reservation and the vm picked up - I tried several times and never an answer - even though at lunch they told me to call after 230pm. I left a message requesting the time we wanted and also requested a table for 2. We never heard back from them and so we went to the dining room at the time we wanted. Upon walking in, the head waiter was seating another couple and then said good evening to us, and the phone rang - he asked us to wait a moment and took the call, which I could tell was a reservation. I felt he should have put the call on hold. Considering I called several times and got no answer, I was amazed that he would answer while guests were standing in front of him. Another waiter lead us to a table of 8. I pulled him aside and informed him that I left a message requesting a table for 2. He went back to the main desk while we stood there and then brought us to a new table - for 2. We happily sat down. Our waiter and assistant waiter were excellent and we sat at that table 3/5 nights (one night at chops, one night at another table). We got a bottle of wine each night and we were pleased with the selection and our choices. The menu was decent. I prefer a 4 course menu (salad/soup, appetizer, entree, dessert) and this menu was just 3 (appetizer, entree, dessert) so I would just order 2 appetizers - one dish, and a salad. Overall the food was good - some nights it was great, others it was OK. Service was always excellent. Shopping on board was good. They had some great sales. I got a great Lacoste bag that was $105 for only $41. They have the usual ship shopping - RC items, jewelry, booze, perfume, etc. We booked our flights through RC. We flew from LGA to Miami and then a bus took us to Fort Lauderdale. We were the only 2 people on the bus. We were told it would take about 45 minutes, but our driver drove VERY fast - at times I thought it was too fast, and we arrived at the ship in 20 minutes. Check in was OK. After going through security, I was waiting for my husband and so I was standing there filling out some of the cruise paperwork and was rudely told to 'not do that here' - so I stopped writing. Then a moment later I was told to 'move along'. I told them I was waiting for my husband and they said keep moving. I was annoyed at this - they were very rude and all of this took place in less than a minute, it's not like I was standing there for 10 minutes. From that point on, check in was quick and efficient. On the morning of disembarkation we had an 8:30am time slot to leave the ship. We quickly got ready and met our group on the way out of the meeting spot, so we just headed off the ship. We got on the Miami airport bus and about 10 other people were already on it. So maybe the time was 8:45am. We sat there until 10:15 and during that time I asked what time we were leaving and was told by the driver we were waiting for more people. During that hour and a half only 3 more people got on, and I would say they got on about 10am and yet we sat there for 15 more minutes and then suddenly left at 10:15. Our flight was departing at noon so I was very nervous. The bus pulled out of the lot and we headed towards the high way - the driver took a few turns that ended us at a dead end. He said 'opps, it's my first day' - so we turned around and instead of going on our way, he went back to the cruise terminal to ask for directions - 95south. We pulled a u-turn and headed back out. We then turned toward 95north and the entire bus told him the way to go. He laughed and thought this was funny. I was practically having a panic attack. Luckily, traffic was light and we made it to the airport at around 10:50 - he pulled into the wrong lane - the car lane, not the bus lane, so we passed American Airlines and he would not pull over - I begged him, telling him our flight was boarding in 40 minutes. He continued driving until he could pull into the bus lane, so now we had to run back to AA. We made it to the gate just as boarding was almost done. While I appreciate the ease of booking with the ship, and going to the ship I don't mind delays, but going home, it may be worth it to pay for a cab so you can control your departure from the cruise lot and hopefully arrive at the airport at a time that you are comfortable. Overall, out of my 3 cruises, I would rate this #3. I wasn't as impressed with the service as I was on other ships. This was the shortest cruise we have taken, so that might account for some of my disappointment. The ports were nice. The ship was well kept. The service was good, sometimes great. The menu could use some improvements and the bar staff could lay off a little. I would cruise with RC again, although not my first choice. Read Less

Enchantment of the Seas was a pleasant surprise. Arriving at Ft Lauderdale port was improved from our last experience although time of the year and ship size probably had a lot to do with it, last time we were there we were on Navigator - Spring Break. We were from our car to on ship in our cabin in less than 30 minutes, but it was 2pm when we arrived. We always wait a little while so we can go to our rooms and not have to carry our stuff around. We were in aft RFS 8166, This cabin was amazing! I hope we can return to it someday. The only thing of note is the master bath is comparable to a JS and the 2nd bath is comparable to a balcony cabin. There is an extra mirror, drawer and outlet in the hall area, plenty of room for everyone to get ready at the same time. I should fess up that our children weren't actually with us this time, we were able to get the cabin because of low bookings but there were things of interest that are best suited for families. We have three children that have been on 4 RC cruises and 1 Disney cruise with us. Enchantment has a wonderful "splash" area for younger children that I haven't seen on many ships and the main pool also had a divider for younger children. Our cabin qualified us for "Suite" service. The benefit for this to families is you can order from the main dining room selections from special suite menus that are provided in your room along with room service. We ordered big breakfasts on 2 of the 5 mornings which included a fresh, made to order omelet and toasted bagel - all still hot and crispy. Regular room service food was also hot and crispy. There is a Ben & Jerry's on board (and the soft ice cream is available on the pool deck by the Windjammer). I didn't get to visit the snacks in the solarium but the fries in Windjammer were also crispy. My husband said the arcade was somewhat smaller but so is the ship. When traveling with the kids (for me) the smaller the ship the better and I think Enchantment is a great choice. Read Less

So far, I've written a review for each cruise that I've been on. This one was one of the best, even though it is the shortest cruise we've been on. We flew down to Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) on Air Tran, checking one bag ($15) for the cruise. We used Air Tran because of the early morning non-stop flight for a good price. The flight went well, although the zone boarding concept is dumb, in my opinion. My wife and I were assigned seats next to each other, but were in different "zones". A lot of people ignored the zones under similar circumstances, which makes the whole thing useless. Might as well, just call out, all aboard! We used Airport Shuttle to get to the ship and back, the driver called us pretty much as soon as we got off the plane, and was at the airport within minutes of getting our luggage. He dropped us right at the ship terminal about 5 minutes after picking us up. Boarding was easy, we walked right up and within 10 minutes we were on the ship. Enchantment is very much like Grandeur, which makes sense, they were exact copies of each other until Enchantment was stretched. The stretch added many new cabins, a pool, splash pool for kids, specialty restaurant, Bolero's and other nice amenities. They opened the rooms after lunch (got my honey stung chicken for sail away), and we checked out our "new style" interior cabin. We chose the cabin since we really love the area just forward of the champagne bar on Grandeur. Unfortunately, you can definitely hear the music from Bolero's one floor up. Didn't bother me, and really didn't seem to bother my wife. The showers in the "new" rooms have the hard door, instead of a curtain, which is nice. No refrigerators in the inside cabins, which gives more outlets, and a mag stripe safe. Overall, very happy with the cabin. Bolero's had the best dance floor we've found on a RCL ship, the band was great, but too loud, that may be my age talking. We had a blase doing Latin dances. The other band was a three some, and they did a lot of different stuff in the Centrum and for the Captain's reception and such. Dancing was very good on the ship. The MDR was really nice, we had a table for eight, with three other couples and we had a good rapport from day one. The food was quite good, but we had a junior waiter, and it took a long time to get our food, we lagged behind many other diners getting finished. Everyone at the table was a repeat cruiser and we had a really good time chatting. The "Diamond Lounge" was a roped off area on the starboard side of the Centrum. Not exactly what I was expecting, but it worked really well as time went on. I met a lot of really nice people at the lounge, including many vets, and other Diamond cruisers with many common interests. Overall, I would say that it was well done and I enjoyed the wine and snack service. Really can't say anything about excursions, we didn't leave the ship once we boarded in Port Everglades, until we got back to Port Everglades. It's not the Grand Cayman and Cozumel aren't nice, we just didn't feel like going ashore. Disembark went just as well as embark, quick and smooth. Airport Shuttle was there in minutes and delivered us to the Southwest curb side checkin, within 20 minutes we were checked into our flight and ready to go. There is free wi-fi at FLL, which is great. ATL and IAD could learn something from them. It's ridiculous as cheap as Internet is now to charge for Internet access. The good will generated for passengers makes up for what it costs easily. Southwest did a great job getting us to our next destinations. Overall, while Grandeur will always be a great memory for me, she was our first cruise after all, Enchantment is easily up to the task of sailing out of Baltimore and I'm looking forward to cruising her again.
