Do not cruise with Disney in the summer if you are a couple without children. Although my husband, me, and our adult daughter had no children with us we were on a family cruise with 3 children in our group (21 total). I can say that we did enjoy our cruise, the ship was overwhelmed with children (a lot of them running around the ship unaccompanied by any adults as if the adults were not afraid anything could happen to them or they could go anywhere (other than overboard). We encountered children running up and down the stairs not doing anything other than running the stairs. And most of them had no manners. If you wanted to get your picture with any of the characters forget it because teeny boppers would just jump right in front of you. We spent a lot of time in the adult only areas (18+). Disney staff apparently does not police this area very well because there were teenagers in the hot tub when my daughter was in there and they were spitting in the hot tub. She was so grossed out that she got out. And apparently some parents do not know what adult only means because there were 2 mothers with their preschool age children in the adult only pool! I complained repeatedly to the guest services and nothing was done. As for the food it was OK. And I mean only OK. The breakfast buffet was pretty good and so was the lunch but as for the evening dining it was OK. Who eats wild boar? The portions were very small too. I am not a big eater but my husband sometimes left dinner hungry and my daughter would go back to the room and order room service. The desserts were the size of a tart when you ordered them. They were more like samplers. Very disappointed in the food. The best times we had were either off the ship on an excursion or in the adults only club (the tube) at night but apparently parents still did not know what 18 and over meant because some brought their teenage children along. Also on the days we were out to sea my sister who had her children and grandchildren with her said you could not even get near the pool or swim in the family areas because there so many people in the pool all you could do was stand in the water. I didn't get in them since we spent our time in the adult pool. Forget trying to keep up your exercise routine in the exercise room, you could not get near it. You were better off walking around the ship. We really enjoyed the entertainment in the evenings including the shows and the entertainment in the adult clubs. So if you choose to cruise on the Disney Fantasy DON'T go when the kids are out of school in the summer because the ship is way too crowded. Our ship was booked to capacity. I only booked at this time of year because it was a family vacation but I would never go again at this time of year. Read Less

We traveled last week on Disney Fantasy from Port Canaveral to St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay. We had taken a five night cruise on the Dream last year in the same type room. We were in 11014 this year and our kids and their tots were in 11018 and 11020. One improvement over the Dream was the absence of the metal gate you had to unlock to enter our hallway on the Dream. We thought it was tacky and unnecessary. The rooms were great. Our kids had the wall between their balconies opened so they could move easily between the rooms and share the large balcony space. It was great with their toddlers. Last year we were in 11008 which is next to the expanded balcony suites. They could easily look into our balcony and perhaps our room since their balcony extended out further than ours. The suites are great with tons of storage, a living area, dining area and bedroom. We enjoyed the second small bath as my husband and I often showered at the same time. Our kids utilized the second bath by putting the pack and play in there so their babies had a quiet room to sleep in. We really appreciate the ease of traveling on the concierge level. The three on our cruise were Alice, Kameisha, and PJ. All were helpful and gracious. We often had all four tots in the concierge lounge. They acted like they love children and were unaffected by spilled drinks. Concierge level gives you access to a private sundeck on Deck 13. We preferred the adjacent adult deck that has a super water feature and shady areas. There was a nice reception on the private sundeck attended by Donald Duck. Our travel agent stayed up to reserve a cabana for us at midnight the first day they were available to book. The cabana makes the day at Castaway Cay absolutely delightful. Since we had a tiny baby with us we could not have spent the whole day on the beach without it. The cabanas have a frig, a safe, a hammock, towels, a ceiling fan, and, if requested, a pack and play. There is also a foot shower and tall shower to use before entering the cabana from the beach. Our toddlers played with the foot shower and sand for hours. The cabana also came with sand bucket and toys. Also available were beach umbrellas, floats, inner tubes and chairs. Our room stewards were Stevonnie and Eka. They were nice as could be and kept our room wonderfully clean. I asked for ice the first day. They filled the bucket twice a day each day. We had two adults only dinners at Palo. The food was really, really good. Nikola was our waiter both nights. He was charming and accurate. It was well worth the upcharge to go. The bar between Palo and Remy is also very nice. Quiet and beautifully furnished, it is a nice respite. It also offers two lovely spaces outside. We are very happy with DCL and Fantasy in particular. We plan to cruise with them again next year. Also, we all had massages. They were great although the staff certainly tries to see you more services and products. We really enjoyed the dancing placemat drawings at Animator's Palate. I thought it was amazing that they could plug all those drawings in so quickly. It was a delight. Read Less
