Poorly managed ship, great itinerary

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Crown Princess

This cruise combined a 15 day transatlantic with a 12 day around the British Isles cruise. We are not brand loyal cruisers (15 cruises on 5 lines) selecting the cruises by the itinerary. This particularly appealed to us because of stops in the Azores and Lisbon on the transatlantic while ticking off all our desires on the round the British Isles leg. It was our first time on Princess. The ...

5th princess cruise and like many, probably our last. Pro: good enrichment, nice crew. Cons: Princess is showing its age - from all the old ploys (endless pictures, shopping galore, cheaper and cheaper food and toiletries, etc) to the endless “clubs’. Ice cream, cokes, coffee, water, wine. There’s the absurd charge for internet (99% profit - costs the same for 300 folks as it does for ...

Poor communication from Captain/Officers

Captain should move to a freighter as he is not comfortable in social situations or aware of importance of communication with crew never mind passengers. He was basically invisible, only saw him once at buffet when he avoided eye contact with guests as he trotted at full speed thru a restaurant. He did not communicate stopping at sea for several hours or communicate to crew who were clueless on ...

We just returned from a 25 day transatlantic cruise. We chose this cruise because of the ports. The embarkation was the worst I've ever experienced in 40 some cruises. It was disorganised with us boarding 2 1/2 hrs late and exhausted. There were many problems all over the ship:The pool was not in service the first day and a half. Our toilet did not work for 13 hrs the 1st full day at sea, ...

Not up to the old Princess standards for sure

This cruise was across the Atlantic, relaxing, great food and entertainment and a top contender for mid-grade cruise ships. First the good. Yes, the food and service was excellent most of the time and they were very gracious. The Cruise Director Angela [she is by far the most glib, talented and personable cruise director we've ever had] and her staff, Fayve, Mark and Crissi were wonderfully ...

We have always taken transatlantic cruise on other Princess ships and had great experiences. However on this cruise there were numerous issues. -The first night in the dining room we were given 3 pats of butter at a table with four people. the assistant waiter said he could not give us more because the supervisor was watching him. -The service in the dining room was extremely slow. After ...

Just Marginal Cruise Experience

This was our first TA and we had chosen the Crown Princess because we had been on the Caribbean Princess at the end of 2016. That experience was only okay, but we got a good price for our accommodations based on a "Hugh" onboard credit, and had hoped that the dining and entertainment would be better because of the length of the cruise. We were on board for 14 days, ending at Southampton, UK. ...

Crown Princess NOT up to Princess standards

Cabin C252- a SAFETY HAZARD for sure-folded up bunk beds on side walls, no room to get down the sides of the beds plus head hits bunk beds causing bruised head and shoulder and broken eye glasses. These bunk beds do not show in the room layout on line that we had access to. Also the picture did show 2 chairs, we had only one. Does it seem reasonable to not have 2 chairs in a cabin meant for ...

Interesting voyage

We wanted to take a transatlantic cruise and especially visit Fatima and Normandy. Overall the ship is ok, but dated. The ship holds over 3000 passengers, the Princess Theater holds maybe 1000. The shows were averge, the solo singers were very good. Unless you were able to get to the show before 7:30, you cannot get a seat. The food in the specialty restaurants, Sabatinis and Crown Grill, ...
