Destination: Panama Canal and it did not disappoint! Very impressed with this cruise. The Coral Princess was our first ship to sail on with Princess a few years ago and it still is one of our favorites. Small enough to enjoy everything, yet large enough to not feel cramped. Love this line! Service is superb in every venue. I don't know how they do it, but everyone remembers your name on these ships. I can't say enough about Club Class dining. Truly a great experience and so worth a few extra dollars. We also enjoy specialty dining once each trip, but really don't need it as the menu in the dining rooms are extensive and varied. From Embarkation to Disembarking the ship, everything about this repositioning cruise was great. Only wish our travel agent with Princess had told us we could continue on to other ports of call. We would have gone on to Vancouver as the ship headed for Alaska. Thanks Princess for making everyone feel so special on your line! Looking forward to our next adventure with Princess! Read Less

This was a cruise I have been wanting to do for a while. This was a Retirement cruise for me and to celebrate my 20th Wedding Anniversary (close to our wedding date). I was very impressed with the Captain and his crew in sailing of the Ship through the Panama Canal. You never knew when we were in port due to the expertise handling of the Captain and Crew. Impressed and thrilled with receiving a certificate for sailing through the Panama Canal. Also I want to Thank Princess Cruise for televising the Easter Mass for people who were not able to attend Church Service due to being on the Sea and did not realize that we would be spending Easter on the Cruise. Easter Service meant a lot to me as a practicing Christian. Thank you for that special event to be aired. Loved the Zumba classed to start off our days when we were at sea. Activities were plenty. Dining was superb. Thanks to all who prepared those heavenly meals and exquisite desserts. Embarkation and Disembarkation went smoothly. Staff was very present and helpful. Would like to do this cruise again. Read Less

Always wanted to see the Panama Canai, and do the full cruise through to Vancouver from Ft Lauderdale. A truly amazing experience! GOING THOUGH THE LOCKS-wow-not sure what i was expecting-but it was a very unique experience. This was one of a few still on bucket list. The staff on this cruise were very friendly and accommodating as needed. Our dining room staff were fantastic, and the food fresh and delicious. This was a cruise to remember-love meeting new people as well. I think Princess did an awesome job of looking after what we required. The excursions we had, were educational, and again all staff informative and helpful.Cartagenha was a little overwhelming with people putting their wears in your face. Overall people very friendly and helpful-trying to meet everyone's expectations. The entertainers on this cruise were awesome-and the cruise directors dealing with everything else going on-they kept everyone very busy. It was an awesome memorable cruise! Read Less

This was a destination we’ve wanted to do for awhile. Being from Alberta, Canada we liked that we started in Ft. Lauderdale and sailed through the canal and finishing in Vancouver, BC. From there it was a very short flight home. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a mini suite in which our room steward, Winston, kept very clean. Although we chose anytime dining, we chose not to do it. Instead, we ate breakfast and lunch in the Horizon Buffet where the food was great (sometimes a little too good), but one thing that bothered me was that various passengers refused to wash their hands even when prompted by a crew member. We had huge, delicious meals at both Sabitinis and Bayou restaurants. I would definitely recommend going to either one. You won’t be disappointed. We booked excursions at all our ports of call but would’ve rather done our own thing on a majority of them. We didn’t find them up to Princess standards like others we’ve done on other ships. A special shoutout to the amazing staff in Crooners. Putu, Parban, and Bo became very good friends and I hope that we will cross paths with them again soon. Read Less

This cruise fit our timeline/desired dates (we chose March) and what we were looking for in a cruise through the Panama Canal. We had read about the size of the ship relative to the number of passengers and it was just right; we never felt crowded or squished. There were plenty of activities and good variety to choose from. There were also spots to just sit and read quietly if desired. The quality of entertainment was excellent and the cruise staff made us feel welcome to try something new and not feel awkward about it. We really enjoyed our dining room food and service but the awkward set times of traditional dining (5:15 or 7:30) had us wondering if 'anytime' dining would have been a better choice (but we really liked our regular servers and table company). We chose the early time and ended up missing most of the sunsets unless we skipped our dining room dinner or dessert. The ship's staff and crew were so pleasant and helpful and they are one reason why our overall experience was so wonderful. We booked four Princess shore excursions and feel we received good value for our money and every excursion was smoothly and professionally run. Obviously, there are times when you wish you had a bit more time at one site or another but that is balanced by knowing that your group (we had 2 elderly travellers) would be able to see more without the uncertainty of how much walking or time would be needed to get to one site or another. It pays to research the excursions and choose something appropriate for your group (think of air conditioned coaches, level of exertion, what you really want to see and experience). Read the fine print description that details length of bus ride, number of minutes at each site, distance to walk, number of steps, and also whether US cash or credit cards are accepted (everywhere we went, US cash was accepted). We would look at doing another Princess cruise in the future. Read Less

The entire trip was magical! Cruising the Canal ocean to ocean was the experience of a lifetime. Our cabin was comfortable and the food was very good - lots of choices and well prepared. The staff was personable, no matter what their job function, and they bent over backwards to ensure we had a great trip. The entertainment included outside folks, who were very good, and they were supported by cruise personnel. Some of the excursions were average at best, but we thoroughly enjoyed Cartagena, Huatulco, and Panama. Weather caused us to bypass our port in Nicaragua (San Juan del Sur), which was a shame, but better safe than sorry. We received lots of information about the ports prior to arrival and info about ship happenings through their Princess @ Sea app, their Princess Patter daily newsletter and their morning TV show called the Wake Show. Would highly recommend having a balcony to avoid the crowds on deck while cruising through the canal and the perks of Club Dining were very nice and well worth it. Despite several days at sea, we were never bored and found lots of activities to participate in. While embarking and disembarking are not the most exciting parts of a cruise and are often frustrating and long processes, Princess agents were well organized and the processes were streamlined, painless, efficient and completed fairly quickly with little wait times. We wanted to see the original Panama Canal locks and the experience did not disappoint. Although the Coral is small and older, she has been dry docked and the common rooms looked very new and clean. However, I wish they would redecorate the state rooms as they are the same décor as years ago. But our stateroom was kept very clean and our steward was exceptional and attentive to our every request. All the staff were friendly --we never experienced any negativity. The food in the main dining room, buffet, and poolside was great. We had no need to eat in the specialty restaurants. I especially love the dinner rolls and desserts!! The entertainment was very good. The broadway production, Silk, was excellent and Encore was superb. The comedians we really enjoyed, too, as well as Bayou. Only one entertainer, the juggler, didn't meet our expectations. I would have liked some more activities during sea days as I don't play bingo, trivia, shop, or use the spa. But I enjoyed the library and learned Sudoku so my time was enjoyable. We also joined people in trivia at times and enjoyed the cruise games hosted by the assistant cruise directors. We also found a casino machine that we enjoyed. It was the quietest cruise we've been on as the majority were retired couples who didn't care to party into the night. That suited us perfectly so it wasn't a problem as it might be for younger people. We only did one excursion. We used Ricky Ricardo in Costa Rico and were satisfied with him. It is the hot, dry season there so the rain forest wasn't very impressive. The monkeys and crocodile safari were very entertaining. We took a taxi and went to the Miraflore Locks in Puerto Amador and we were happy we did as we enjoyed the museum and the I-Max film narrated by Morgan Freeman showing the building of the new and old locks. It was a day well spent. In the other ports, we taxied to the old towns. In Puerto Vallarta we took the city bus to the Malecon which was an experience in itself as the bus drivers drive fast and furious! We love the Malecon and the vibe there. Embarkation and debarkation couldn't have been better! We have priority embarkation and we walk off with our luggage so we were one of the first people to disembark. All in all this was another great cruise with Princess. Read Less

The Coral princess was in excellent condition for as old as she is! Everyone had a fantastic time. I planned this trip one and a half years in advance for my 60th birthday, so worth the wait!! Some cruise ships do not stop in Panama City, this was a plus, great tour and learned even more about the building of the Canal. The cruise itself was seamless, great service and guest entertainers. Not so much the onboard dancers and singers. The thing that is great about cruising is you can choose the entertainment that best suits you in different venues on the ship. The Coral had many nice big showrooms and lounges. We spent a lot of time playing trivia, one of our favorite things to do and they had the best staff ever! Read Less

Our ship had been in dry dock and arrived later than planned. There are very long lines outside. When we finally got in, after waiting over an hour......we then had to wait in the hall......yes, there were chairs, but not enough.....some people gave up their chairs to people who needed it (not all disabilities are visible) and sat on the concrete floor.....that was not a good beginning! We choose this cruise because we wanted to experience all the locks of the Panama Canal.........it is an amazing experience. Throughout the day we had a guide on board who gave wonderful information This trip had 3 tender ports, that always takes more time with getting to shore. We had a cabin on the C deck.....this was our 21st cruise.....and the cabin was not cleaned; debris on the floor, full trashcans and a dirty bathroom/toilet.......our room carpet was not replaced,it was dirty....... I found my steward he was very apologetic and took care of it..... This time I was also disappointed by the food. We went to the any time dining room, loved our waiters and headwaiter. I am a vegetarian and every night they make sure I get something I like.....except a few nights they just gave me steamed vegetables.... But the barista knew my name and what kind of coffee I liked....the chef at the International Cafe would get my croissant.....I felt spoiled. We were a little disappointed that we only had 4 shows with dancers....There were a lot of comedians on this trip.....not my thing. But I had a great trip, beautiful places....the excursion in Costa Rica: waterfalls and animal sanctuary, were amazing...and yes, we’ll keep cruising. Read Less

We had a great time. Embarkation was smooth. Even though the ship was full it never seemed crowded. We had the last port side balcony on the 8th deck. We were able to see not only out to the side but also to the back. This was great when going through the canal. We were even able to reach out and touch the side wall of the Panama Canal in one of the locks. The main anytime dining room was good but we only ate there 3 out of 15 days. The Horizon Buffet had more choices and excellent food. We were very impressed with the Ramon Noodle bar where you picked your own ingredients. They cooked it and brought it out to your table. They did this on 2 different nights. They also did an excellent Mongolian BBQ bar the same way twice. They always got your drinks for you. Each table in the buffet at night had a place-mat, water goblet and your wrapped silverware in place. When you ordered an omelet for breakfast they brought it to your table instead of having to stand there and wait for them to cook it. The entertainment was excellent. The service from the staff was exceptional at all times. Was the cruise perfect? No, but we were impressed. The ship was well thought out. They had a card room where you could go to play games instead of having to find a table at the buffet or some other place to play. The Library was big. All the ports were secondary to going through the canal. We took the train when we anchored in Panama City. It was great. The tenders returning to the ship were slow. We stood over one hour to get back to the ship. Would we do it again? YES. Would we go on the Coral Princess again? Yes. Will we cruise with Princess in the future? Yes. Read Less

There are 2 TVs in case there's ever a conflict on what to watch. We had any time dining and always the option to go very informal and visit the Horizon Court for full meals or snacks. The promenade deck was a great for walking or jogging but the wind can be a problem at times. You could also venture to the upper decks for walking as well. The ports of call were all as described and made for some interesting sightseeing excursions. We expected some rain as it was nearing the end of the dry season there but only experienced rain one afternoon and for that we were already on our bus ready to return to the ship. A pleasant surprise for me was the Internet Plan was unlimited for the entire cruise with no restriction on the amount of data you could download. Food was just mediocre not much of variety. What is the price with the food not normal for a princess. Overall everything was great. Embarkation and disemabarkation went smoothly. The ship is smaller than and older, heard that it was going into dry dock in January. There was a great variety of shore excursions. Something for everyone. Cabin was great, was upgraded to club class. The bed was very uncomfortable, was nothing like what was discribed on the website. The pillows way too soft. We asked for abit firmer pillows but, they said they didn’t have firm ones on the ship anymore. Guess we will have to pack our own. We love this relatively small ship, with a more intimate atmosphere, friendly staff and lack of queues everywhere. The cabin was very well maintained, with a comfortable bed. We travelled as a couple and noticed that there were very few children on board. We found the food to be of a very good standard; with the two fine dining restaurants good value; we preferred Bayou to Sabitini's. This is the second time we have sailed this particular cruise, and we enjoyed it as much this time. There is a very good balance of ports of call and sea days. We took Princess shore excursions for all ports, except Aruba (we decided we just wanted to stroll around the nice port area this time), and were happy with the majority. Ocho Rios was our favourite because of the friendliness of the tour guides and the beautiful scenery. Costa Rica was an interesting place and very good for spotting animals such as sloths, monkeys, birds, etc. in their natural habitat I was quite ill with a migraine on embarkation day, and we were touched by the kindness of all the staff we encountered during the process. The entire cruise from embarkation to disembarkation was truly amazing. The Ship is great, our cabin was terrific, Club Class is wonderful and the entertainment was very enjoyable. The Princess singers and dancers are extremely talented. The Panama Canal is truly a marvel of engineering and standing just under the bridge as you enter the Canal gives you such a feeling of amazement you will not believe it. The service on this ship is incredible. From Sabatini's to our Dining Room our Head Waiters, Waiters and Assistant Waiters were more that excellent. The food was excellent and the selection of specials was good. In Club Class the Head Waiter Petros was amazing. He cooked different specials nightly. He and the Club Class Waiters and Assistant Waiters always made dinner extra special. If you like trains the Panama Canal Train Excursion is a must do. The Coral Princess is an older ship, but she is a good ship. Needs a little TLC in some places but the feeling of Coming Back New is truly a good feeling on this cruise. Happy Crusing. Read Less

But overall, it turned out to be an excellent adventure. No problems with sea sickness. There was plenty of time Onboard for resting, playing games, swimming, watching movies, or just "taking a walk." Thank you for making our first cruise a memorable one. The flowers for our anniversary that we ordered were beautifully done. They staying fresh for the rest of the trip. Maybe next time, we could get the flowers at the beginning of the trip and be able to enjoy them longer. Great first cruise! Port Everglades is a very short distance from Ft Lauderdale airport which was nice. Everything went smoothly throughout the cruise with no major hick ups. All staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the trip. For its age compared to other ships it was in great condition and nicely decorated. Some rust spots but I don't think it was that bad given that the ship is constantly out on the water. The crew was also seen painting and varnishing on certain days while at sea which seemed a little strange and could have been done while in port. Port visits were great and disembarking was well organized, however the time spent on shore was very short in my opinion. Specially in larger cities such as Cartagena and Panama City. The onboard entertainment in the evening was top notch in my opinion. There was great variety of shows from night to night. Would definitely go again in hear beat! Read Less

This was the first time we ever had an inside cabin and we chose it because the price was right and it was great. My husband thought he would be claustrophobic but the wasn't at all. In the past we usually have a balcony but this worked out good. Large closet for all our stuff, everything we needed. I mean how much time do you spend in your room really. After a 4 hour drive from New Smyrna Beach to Port Everglades my best friend Pat and I sailed through check in and were actually in our cabin by 11:45 a.m. We parked in the Pier 2 garage for security and convenience. Our favorite ship activities included Zumba, line dancing, deck parties (I won champagne), walking the true promenade deck and relaxing in hot tubs and pools. There was plenty of great entertainment too. Tops on our list were John Bressler, Andrew John Diessner, production show On the Bayou, Dancing with the Princess Stars and The Voice of the Ocean. The cruise director’s staff included some very entertaining young people including Yris, Chris, Kiki and Emily. The skit they performed at the crew talent show was a riot! We enjoyed one tour and numerous dinners and shows with our new cruise critic friends LaDonna, Darryl, Lisa and Bill. Meeting them made this trip so much more fun! One highlight of this cruise was being invited to the most traveled passenger lunch for the 1st time. We enjoyed our table mates and thought the food was the best we had on the entire trip. Our shore excursions were: Aruba: Princess Catamaran Snorkeling-really enjoyed exploring the Antilla shipwreck, followed by music and rum punch on the return trip. Cartagena, Columbia: We beat the crowds by arranging a tour for 6 with Dora the Explorer. We went up to the top of the Castillo San Felipe de Barajas fort, visited the old town, shopped for coffee and emeralds and visited La Popa Monastery. I highly recommend this friendly and knowledgeable guide. Limon, Costa Rica: We booked the Tortuguero Canal Tour with Eduardo of Your Lucky Tour. We enjoyed the canal tour, fruit market and our lunch at the Red Snapper of jerk chicken, rice and beans, salad and fried plantains. On the way back to the ship we stopped at a grocery store for the best prices on coffee. Grand Cayman: We liked the Princess bike excursion to the Turtle Center and Hell. The ride was 7 ½ miles which was long enough in the heat. Afterwards we were ready for a Caybrew at Cayman Cabana. We tried the Oxtail Nachos which were fantastic. We put down a future cruise deposit and will look forward to our next Girls cruise! Read Less

We chose this cruise for a fiftieth wedding anniversary present and included our children and spouses. From embarkation to disembarkation the trip was spectacular. The crew, including wait staff, stewards, bar tenders, etc were excellent. The moment we arrived at out room there were balloons, congratulatory signs and good wishes. In our room were banners, mobiles and “towel sculptures” of beautiful swans! We also had singing and cards etc from Princess. The excursions: the National Aviary of Columbia, the riverboat ride in Costa Rica, and the trip into Gatun Lake where we observed the locks, were all informative and educational besides being loads of fun. We toured the small ports in Aruba and Grand Cayman, shopped and ate. Those activities are always enjoyable, too! The food on the Coral Princess is outstanding. We usually ate at the huge buffet for breakfast, lunch was sometimes there or in one of the restaurants, and dinner was in the Providence dining room. The wait staff entertained and served us well - they were great. This is our second cruise on Princess and we will be back when we can get our family together. This cruise fulfilled a number of my travel criteria: Check off a bucket list item-Done Go places I have never been before-Done Eat in restaurants that I can't find at home-Done Experiencing the Panama Canal was definitely on the bucket list. Experiencing it on the Coral Princess was icing on the cake! Even before we got to Florida, Princess was taking care of us. About a week prior to departure, Princess asked us to "move over" from our reserved mini-suite cabin to a balcony cabin; in exchange they would refund a substantial portion of our cruise fare. Yes, please! Embarkation was a breeze-we walked into our cabin less than an hour after arriving at the port terminal. The ship was beautiful; the public spaces well maintained and our cabin was spacious enough for us, despite the tiny bathroom (we didn't realize how much we appreciated the larger shower in the mini-suite until we didn't have it!). Plenty of closet space for 10 days worth of clothes for two people, too. We chose late sitting traditional dining (another "traditional" dining room offers Anytime Dining and, of course, the Horizon Court offers buffet style dining) The wait staff in the Provence dining room were attentive and talented (be sure to have Mark sing to you for your special occasion). As you would expect, the food was plentiful and delicious. We loved attending the enrichment lectures about the port and about the Canal itself. The onboard port specialist was very knowledgeable about the history of the Canal. The highlight for us was being on the ship as it traversed the Gatun Locks and watching other ships go through them as well. What a sight that was! We choose Princess because their pricing is fair, their Future Cruise program is very nice, and they offer onboard credits to active duty military and veterans. With both of us being veterans, this benefit will usually cover the cost of one shore excursion for us. Read Less

There wasn't much to see at Limon in Costa Rica but the excursion to the rain forest was a great experience. We didn't stop in Jamaica due to bad weather. The shows and entertainment on the ship were also very good. The pool was a little cold and it was fresh water, not salt water like the other ships. The casino is a little small. The onboard entertainment was so much fun. We liked having recent movies running at the theaters and on the TV channels. The dining room staff were GREAT. Another place to have fun and to try something new. We appreciated having the option for standard foods like chicken, Caesar salad and shrimp cocktail as well as food selections of the Caribbean region and those we may not have tried before. The desserts were on so rich and decadent. We really liked the option of a small after dinner drink in a souvenir glass. We love having a cabin with a balcony. Great place to start the day, view the port, a place to sip your first cup of coffee and relax before Dinner. We were unable to visit Jamaica because of high winds. We give high praise to the Captain for putting our safety FIRST. Of course we were disappointed but the entertainment department stepped up to the challenge and added more things to do on the ship. Great team work. We plan on returning to Princess Cruises. Read Less

Choose this cruise for both destinations and relaxing sea days. There were ten of us on this cruise— some with prior cruises and some first timers. Expectations also varied. The ship isn’t new but is well maintained and every bit of it was elegant. The cabins — both balcony rooms and mini suites — were roomy, clean, comfortable and exactly as the were presented by Princess. Embarkation was efficient and super fast. Our cabins were ready when we boarded and our luggage arrived shortly after we did! We ate in the buffet — delicious, presented well, kept replenished constantly and very fresh. To enter the buffet, you needed to either wash your hands at stations just outside or you had to use the antibacterial gel. The staff did everything they could to keep us healthy. We were given a fantastic oval table for ten in Provence Diningroom — which was in a perfect location and large enough for all of us and yet narrow enough for us to converse. And we had the best wait staff we have ever had anywhere — Willy who was starting his 26th year with a Princess and was a combination of efficiency, humor and by the end of the first night he knew all our names (regardless of where else we might see him). Richard assisted him and was excellent. The food was superb and the presentation was wonderful. And if we asked if they had something not on the menu — pistachio ice cream — it appeared. We ate one evening in Sabatini’s — the food was excellent and the desserts were not only good but presentation was dramatic. Many afternoons we had a snack in the International Cafe and were never disappointed. Nothing on the ship was a disappointment— the ship, the crew, the staff and the activities. Thank your Princess, we’ll be back!,, Read Less
