Thank God I didn't sail on the Island Princess

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Coral Princess

The 15 day full canal transit was outstanding. The cruise staff, in spite of being short staffed, provided a regular, diverse set of activities, from trivia to games to exercise classes. You could be as busy or as laid back as you wanted to be. The Coral, unlike the Island, has two theaters for shows, an adequate-sized gym, an international cafe for coffee, a Promenade deck circuit for walking, ...

Great, great, great!!!

We chose this cruise because it was full passage of the Panama Canal and because Aruba was one of the ports. It also had as few sea days as possible for the number of ports. We also did NOT want a mega-ship, which, of course, could not go thru the Canal anyway! Embarkation was a bit lengthy. First, we waited outside in a holding area for quite some time. Then we were transported (I had ...

Loved this ship

I loved the size of this ship. Yes, it's a little older, but the minor issues were not enough to make a difference. One of the issues was not with the ship, but with Princess. Anytime dining, is not really "anytime dining" If you do not show up for dinner at 5 to 5:30, you can almost guarantee that you will be waiting a while. The Club Class should definitely be done away with. Lots of ...

Enjoyable Panama Canal Cruise

Ship had excellent public areas, not too crowded. Great service and excellent food. Ship is a little older, so it does have some character, but we found it to be very nice and less crowded than some of the more modern ships. We had an excellent destination expert - enjoyed all of his talks. The itinerary was quite good. We enjoyed Cartagena Colombia - just took a cab to old town and ...

An "Old" Ship??

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Coral Princess

This was a bucket list cruise from Florida to Los Angeles via the Panama Canal. Although some might consider this ship to be "old" since it was built in the early 2000s, it has been beautifully maintained and unlike the glitz of newer ships, this ship had lots of wood and a "club-like" atmosphere. The entertainment was of a higher quality than recently seen on other cruises. I should mention this ...

You just cannot beat the service on a Princess Cruise

The ship is older but the food was good, the service was excellent. We never felt like we were imposing (like the bigger ships you can be). We joined up with a Great group of people (from cc) and it felt like family (in a good way). The shows were okay, I didn't care for the comedian, opera. But the magician was good the musicals (Whitney, entertainer of the year, excellent) were all great. My ...

We arrived at Ft Lauderdale the day before the cruise so we could rest for cruise day. Ft Lauderdale was fun as we used the water taxi to sightsee the area and explore the beaches and restaurants. Embarkation on the Coral Princess was quick and easy and the ship was immaculate as is a classical beauty! The crew was continually polishing the glass and cleaning all the public areas as well as ...

Great cruise but limited port layovers.

This cruise is billed as the Panama Canal cruise. If you accept that then the abbreviated shore excursions in other places become acceptable. If not, then the extremely short layovers will not be satisfactory. That being said, this is an excellent cruise. It is very relaxing and the ports are excellent. CONS 1. This is an older ship, and showing its age. You can see lots of rusted areas, ...

BEST Cruise Ever!

BEST CRUISE EVER! We took the Panama Canal Cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. We had been on a couple more Princess cruises that were good, but this one exceeded our expectations! This one was over the top SPECTACULAR! ONE: It is extremely well organized from the moment you board to the end of the cruise. The "hurry up and wait" portion was minimal thanks to the many attentive staff. They were ...
