This was my fourth cruise on Carnival and fifth overall; I sailed with my sister, who is retired due to medical issues. We drove down from Atlanta before the cruise and used a "stay-cruise-park free" option at the Quality Inn FLL South in Dania Beach. As promised, parking and the port shuttle were free (BOTH directions) with one night's stay...a great deal!

Embarkation was quick even though there were long lines. Disembarking was relaxing because they did not force you to leave the ship or your cabins early. To get thru customs took about an hour.
The ship is not attractive but was clean.
Muster drill is still held on deck.
The food was average, nothing to rave about but nothing really bad.

Checking in was a breeze.... We are Platinum with Carnival, so no lines. The ship was really nice and the cabin, although interior, was well appointed and had a good flow and quite a bit of closet/drawer space. The ship also had laundry facilities which to me, is a plus. I wanted to say a few things about our trip on the Freedom. My wife and I drove from NW FL to Ft Lauderdale - 10 hours - the Friday before we sailed. We were gonna be sailing with friends so we followed them down. We stayed at the Fairfield Marriot one night, great room and parking for the trip for only $97. This is our 15th cruise on Carnival. We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and the fact that it left on my birthday. We like the Eastern Caribbean Cruises that usually go to St Maarten, St. Thomas and Nassau but with Grand Turk and St Kitts added instead of Nassau this was a better itinerary.

Another enjoyable CCL cruise!!!
BACKGROUND: My wife and I are both retired and “lucky” to be Platinum level. We try to visit at least one new POC on every cruise or at least cruise on a ship that we haven’t been on before.
