The club class dining was amazing. The ship has a warm, welcoming feel. The ship was in great shape and the crew was very friendly . We were in a suite and the ammenties are worth the extra cost. Breakfast in Sabatinis , use of the thermal spa, club class dining, all exceptional. I shout out to the Club class dining staff, Paul and Mark and Beartiz, Mary Grace, Grays Kelly. The suite was large enough for 3 passengers with plenty of storage and room to walk around. The only issue was the room steward, he was new and it was a problem that was not resolved. The entertaiment was fantastic. The movies on demand in the stateroom had many great choices. The port times made it easy for getting on/off the ship, never crowded. The ship layout was easy to navigate. But i tend to like a smaller ship. Read Less

Despite having cruised dozens of times with Princess, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Carnival, we have never submitted a review but felt this one was necessary due to our delight with this ship and cruise. I want to begin with a feature that most surprised us due to having read negative reviews. The food was WONDERFUL. We ate almost exclusively at the buffet where the food surpassed any other cruise ship we can remember in variety, quantity, and quality from the first lunch to the last breakfast on the morning of debarkation. Yes, for lunch, there was consistently a large number of sandwiches offered (IN ADDITION to other selections), but it was a smorgasbord of delicious gourmet sandwiches. The buffet was never crowded; your napkin and silverware were waiting at your table; and attentive wait staff quickly brought your beverages to you unless you preferred to get your own. A feature that we experienced for the first time was the Medallion encased in a plastic cover and carried along with your cruise card. Among other uses, it automatically unlocked your door as you approached your cabin if it was anywhere on your person, even in a purse/tote…no more searching for the card or strapping it around your neck. A neck strap was provided, however. The card and Medallion could be removed from the strap and re-hooked to whatever, if desired. The shows were extraordinary…also among the best we had ever seen…and of a wide variety and extreme talent. The costumes were creative and stunning. Every seat in the auditorium faced the stage. Slanted aisles and staggered seating kept your view of the stage from being blocked by a person sitting in front of you. In addition, there were absolutely no columns in the room blocking views. What may be a negative for some, but was a huge plus for us – there were no little drink tables taking up room and waiters did not circulate taking drink orders. A small table could be accessed when lifted from your armrest, however. In addition to news channels, there were TV shows (reruns), dozens upon dozens of new-release movies of every variety, and many documentaries offered on your cabin’s television. The internet speed was the fastest we have ever experienced. Embarkation was speedy and simple. Luggage arrived promptly. Our cabin steward was exceptional from the beginning, even pairing and lining up a pile of shoes we had left in our hurry to dine. The dreaded lifeboat drill was conducted quickly in spacious air-conditioned venues…no crowding, no vests, no heat. The entire ship has recently been updated and is kept unbelievably clean and sparkling. Debarkation at all ports was handled quickly after docking. Final day debarkation was the easiest we have ever experienced. Of interest is that there is no debarkation to see Panama unless one is going on an excursion. We sailed through three locks (very interesting) into the central lake where excursions were tendered to shore. The ship turned around and sailed back through the same locks, stopping at the port to pick up the excursion people. Passengers are allowed to get off the ship at this stop but only to stand next to the ship to see the 3 to 4 tables of crafts. Our superb excursion was to an Embera Indian village - a real village right out of National Geographic, not a mock-up for tourists. There is decent shopping in the Jamaica and Costa Rica ports, but the towns are not worth the trouble to stroll around. Cartehena, Columbia’s port is a lovely jungle park area but not much shopping. A taxi ride of about $20 one way is required to get to the old city which is well worth visiting and strolling…good crafts-type shopping in the old fort and massive flowering vines hanging from beautiful old buildings. Everyone wished there were more time in this port. Grand Cayman is more up-scale in look but basically only factory souvenirs for sale after one tenders into port. Take an excursion. The only facet I would criticize is that the ship’s library is non-existent. There are less than 10 books of fiction written in English, so take your own reading material... preferably paperbacks that you can donate at the end of the cruise. It will rain. Pack several (Dollar Tree) disposable ponchos and a small umbrella. We never noticed insects but used repellent anyway…and sunscreen. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I have cruised Princess and my perks go up the more i cruise and I like it. This time. The food was really great. They got a new chef because last cruise on the same ship the food was horrible! I couldn’t believe the difference. The new Medallion system is unbelievable! And I like the ship and the staff. I LOVE the gym and it’s location. And the sauna and steam rooms are free. The shows were better than before! And the captain had to change the itinerary because of the storm and I liked the new ports better! And we all got 20% off the next unpaid cruise! The tv and choice of movies is incredible. I had the same room as last time and the room steward remembered my name and me! The dining room service was wonderful and i ate in the Grille Restaurant and was totally impressed with the food and service Read Less

I chose this cruise as I wanted to experience the Panama Canal but we just went through the locks. I had hoped we would have done more of the canal before we got to the locks. The ship was ok just the same as other Princess ships I guess I had a mini suite with a balcony not sure what was extra other than a bath tub? Lots of cruise lines have seating areas in a balcony cabin I feel this was Princess's way of extracting more money from the guest. The food was average I had a chicken and leek pie one night and the chicken was not cooked there was still blood on the chicken apparently there were others that night who send this dish back. Not what you would expect on this type of ship. The night we had Lobster not that I had this but there was one small piece on the plate by the time they had de boned it there wasn't much Lobster. I had issues with the announcements I couldn't hear them in the cabin and being deaf I struggled with this I had to ring down to reception but of course they didn't always answer the phone. They told me that all announcements came through the web cam channel on the TV but of course this was a lie as they didn't. I was told by them that I could get Music through channel 47 but of course another lie as there is no channel 47 on guest TV's just the crews. They cancelled a trip I had booked on in Costa Rica what a mess that was they did't let the guests know I just noticed a credit on my account so I asked the question we got letters much later some people didn't get them until the next day. In the bathroom I had tiles off the floor, there was a step into the bathroom which was stainless steel no yellow markings to warn you about the step especially is you were using the bathroom through the night very dangerous. They allowed smoking in the Casino on the right hand side and this is in front of the Cashier's desk so if you were stood there the smell of smoke was awful I was surprised that smoking was allowed but it's another way of extracting more money from people allowing them to smoke in there. Positives: the cabin was clean and the guy was lovely and helpful, the restaurant staff were lovely very helpful and kind nothing too much trouble. It was just the tours desk and customer service or reception whatever they call themselves. Embarkation and disembarking was fine fairly easy really, I carried my own case off so I was off in the first wave of people/ I will not be using Princess again I can't cope with the drama Read Less

The ship was very difficult to navigate, we had dinner on the 6th floor, most elevators do not go to the 6th floor, so we had to go down to deck 7, then take stairs down to 6. This was an issue for my husband who uses a cane. Only 2 elevators went all the way down, but most of the time they went right past us. The cabin C-238 had problems with the a/c, we had to call 3 times, and they finally got it right. Very disappointed. The balcony was larger than most, however, I would rather have a smaller balcony and have a love seat sofa to put our luggage on to pack to come home. Our room was only vacuumed 2 times in 11 days and we kept sneezing. The curtains out to the balcony were very dirty at the bottom. In the shower where you pulled the curtain closed there was black mold in the ceiling. My husband is allergic to mold, he was coughing something terrible! The grout in the tiles behind the sink was all pulling away from the wall. Breakfast was good at both the dining room, and the marketplace, however, lunch was such a problem. Everything was spicy, or had sauces which we don't eat. We were stuck eating pizza a lot, which I will say was very good, but when spending so much money, I would have like better choices for lunch, by the way other people were complaining as well. The chefs have to learn that not everyone's insides can handle spices. Dinner was good and Rui in charge of the dining room was excellent. They had the Baked Alaska parade, but when we received our piece, it was about 2 inches by 3 inches, very small. My husband cannot have certain things, and Rui always came to our table with the following night's menu, so he could pre-order. That was wonderful, thank you Rui! The Crown Grill was awesome! The food was outstanding, as was the service. The blonde women in charge at the front desk was fabulous! Sorry I can't find the paper she wrote her name on, but she was extremely wonderful! The entertainment was just ok. There was one show that we really liked, and one of the comedians was good. Other than that, not as good as MSC. Shore excursions were pretty good. We did the Scenic Drive of Cartagena & San Pedro Claver church. That was good, but terribly hot in the church. It was not air conditioned so very uncomfortable in the court yard area. We went to see a show and that was very good. We really enjoyed it. We also did the Scenic Drive & Folkloric show, this was good as well. Very talented performers. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed ourselves. They had fresh fruits cut up for us as well as water. We also did the Trolley Roger Train Scenic Tour of Georgetown. This was nice, but very hot. The gym on the ship was ok, we used the treadmill, the recumbent bikes, and a couple of other machines. It was on the warm side there as well. I will say that getting on the ship was very confusing. We were told to wait in one area, then told we should not be there. We were the first all Medallion class ship to go out. So I guess they have to work out the bugs in the system. I did think it was neat how the medallion would recognize you and unlock your door for you. Disembarkation was a night mare as well. Again, we were told to wait in one area, then we were told to go somewhere else. We kept getting wrong information. I will stick with Royal Caribbean! Read Less

Happy with cruise and ship overall...cabin was much bigger than we expected and closet was huge...bedwere so comfortable that we purchased the exact mattress when we got home. We did not buy drink package...it would have been $1400.00 for two since it was a ten day cruise...after the cruise we checked our statement and we spent 1/3 of what the drink pkg costs... so we made the right decision..guess it matters how much you drink..drinks are extremely expensive... $9+ glass of wine...$18+ martini... we booked a lot of excursions from the ship and had a bad experience at st Lucia on a catamaran/beach excursions... when we arrived at beach there were about 10 aggressive locals in kayaks who encircled the boat trying to sale their wares...and encircled the guests when we got off the boat...we took pics and we complained to shore excursions managers and showed her but didn’t receive credit. We had been on many other ships but this was our second Princess cruise and we were on it for 20 days. Our first was to the Mediterranean for 21 days. The ship is large and nicely layout out. The rooms are typical and comfortable. We loved the food and both in the dinning room and the buffet. The entertainment was diverse and my only complaint is the sound level was too high. Some ships do better than others with this. It was also nice that you didn't have to walk through the casino to get to the dinning room. They try for a smoke free night a couple of times during the cruise but that is really a waste. The movie selection for the outdoor theatre is ok. The sad part was the popcorn they served at the beginning of the movie. It is greasy and poor quality. Carnival does a much better job. The hamburger and hotdog station is limited as well as the pizza selections. Read Less

Of the other cruises we have been on Princess is the best . The attention to a lactose free diet were greatly honored. The food was excellent. But the bar orders placed at the dinning room were almost a joke. They didn't know about or how to make other drinks offered at the ships bars on deck 15. And when we did order from a limited whine choice it took forever to get those drinks. Getting on and off the ship took a lot of time due to certain circumstances such as a lot of busses arriving at all the same time and computer glitches. Our original travel agent company and agent caused mix up in our originally contracted cruise package and it took a couple of days to get it straightened out and the changes that were supposed to be done by the woman who called our room were not completely done and I had to go to the customer service desk and get these other changes made or done. Service in dining room was good. Smaller ship was nice. Entertainment was good. The traditional seating was slow service. To get to theatre productions you had to get there 45 min early. Shame not enough seats. Juices in market place were warm. A language Barrier was hard at times with waiters. Liked wifi and medallion entry to room. Met some wonderful people. Liked washer and dryer. Some coin machines and dryers broken. But fixed during Our stay. Entertaining productions. Loved bravo. Rooms would be small if you had other than two in room. This ship caters to elders. If your looking for variety of options from activities, entertainment, shopping, dining DO NOT choose this ship. Store hours were short. Everything expect the casino and a couple bars closed by 10 pm. I found information was misleading or lacking for a couple excursions so once paid and on them it wasn't what a person thought. It'll be a headache to fight for a refund so lesson learnt. This was my honeymoon and we did make the best out of our days and really did enjoy most of the ports. We found the ship though in the evenings and sea days boring. Unless you showed up a hour early for entertainment don't count on getting a seat. One theater and it filled fast. Many many rude passengers which isn't the cruise lines fault however elders have great ability to lack feelings and thoughtfulness of others and the average age had to of been min 65. This was Not like any experiences I've had on other ships. The boarding was fast, prompt which was nice. There was little waiting. My husband and I wouldn't choose this ship again unless your a elder. This Cruise line/ship Wasn't for us at all. It was stated the ship had been renovated but still alot of older touches to it but clean. Staff work hard and non stop. Our balcony was awesome. I wouldn't cruise without one. Really do research when booking your next cruise. Read Less

We had cruised 6 times and always encouraged to go Princess so, we did. It was however, a disappointment. The condition of the ship was not good. We had rusted out parts of our balcony. Also, our toilet would start on it's own throwing brown water on the bathroom and our things. It happened more than once. Also the sink stopper kept coming apart, no matter how many times they fixed it, it continued to break. The condition of the stateroom was in need of renovation. When we ordered room service, usually a cheeseburger, no matter if we asked for medium rare or anything else, it always came well done. We took the cruise to celebrate our 30th anniversary and they said the door would be decorated. Others were but, not ours. The girl in the spa called someone and it was done when we got back to our room. Also, we were celebrating my birthday the day after the cruise. Again, the door was not decorated but, others were. We had advised these two events at the time of booking and it was on our paperwork. Our experience in the Crown Grill was not the best and cancelled our two upcoming reservations. However, Santini's was FABULOUS! They made up for a lot of difficulties. We asked for a wheelchair for disembarkation, it never came and, by the time we gave up and I used my cane, everyone was gone and there was very little signage for people on the luggage special service. We continually had ask where we were going next. Read Less

The constant banging from maintenance which we have video, foul smell of sewage, problems with air conditioning being turned off and the front desk response to all the above was enough to never want to sail on the Caribbean princess again. We will do several more cruises, but not with them! Our close friend who is like family recommended princess so we took his advice but we were all disappointed with the results of this cruise. The one and only exceptionall experience was dinner service. The wait staff would go above and beyond to please everyone at the table! We never missed dinner due to the great experience with service and food every evening. Disembarkation went smoothly and the ease of finding our luggage off the ship did as well. The entertainment was average and ports were not as expected due to the change in itinerary which really made a difference in the cruise. As mentioned, not what we expected by far. Read Less

We chose princess this time to try what we thought would be a higher quality experience. We had a good time on the cruise as we chose to enjoy ourselves even if our expectations were not met. It was not a waste of money but it would have been better spent on another cruise line. The cabin was standard and comfortable. The problem we had was a smell coming up through the shower drain. After three calls to get it fixed we had to wet a towel and cover the drain. Unfortunately the cabin steward kept removing the towel even after we told him why we did it. At one port day the ship stunk like a sewer you had to go to the top decks to get away from the smell. They said they were doing some kind of cleaning that day. I thought they needed to choose a better time and place. That was an experience we had never had on any of our other cruises. The food in the buffet was average to below average but still tasty enough to enjoy. The dining room food was off and on. Several times the meat was dry and tough and the seasoning bland on the vegetables. Other meals were very good. It was inconsistent. The servers rarely smiled. Evening entertainment around the ship was okay but not up to par with what we experienced on other ships. We ate at a special pub lunch one day, the food was great the service was laughable. We set at the table with two other strangers and we joked about if the waitress was going to come back and scold us. We did not complain to her or grumble about anything she just had an attitude. We asked her if they had a dessert she said all they had was an alcoholic beverage. A few minutes later I saw a waiter walk by with a dessert like looking dish. I stopped and asked him what it was and "surprise" it was a dessert. He said, "Would you like one?" to which we responded, "Yes". He quickly got us one and also refilled our water which our other server had neglected to do for the past half hour. We went into the future cruise sales office to ask some questions. As we walked in the gentleman there looked up from his computer and said something along the effect of, "What do you want?" We obviously were interrupting his day and he was not happy about it. We asked a question he went to typing on his computer with no more interaction until several minutes later he briefly answered our question and then stared at us. We quickly got up and made our escape laughing at the bizarre encounter. Overall the attitudes of the staff was non-friendly and cold. When you went to get something at the pizza shop, ice cream place, etc. the staff rarely smiled or greeted you warmly. You felt like you were putting them out by asking for something. Having been a business owner for years this tells me that something is wrong in management. The lower level staff tend to treat customers the way they are treated. We really enjoyed the shows at night they did an excellent job with that. They also did an excellent job on getting you on and off the ship. That went quickly and smoothly. Read Less

Firstly was a 10 day eastern carribean not 20 day Panama as stated above., the cruise in itself was an enjoyable holiday but only because I made it that, the food was pretty good on board the staff are all hard working and very pleasant , although storm Florence dictated the itinerary and we ended going to places I wouldn't have considered prior to booking but at least we all arrived home safely. My main gripe is that we had a change to itinerary because of the storm probably a good choice by the crew but surely offering 20% discount for future cruises is a form of piracy by ensuring if I want to cash In I MUST book a princess cruise (not going to happen) , offers of on board benefits may have softened the blow like maybe free access to the Internet to at least allow us to let family and friends know we are safe and to lighten the disappointment of not going where we thought you were. The captains circle get free access to this as well as free everything else it seems and from my experience seeing circle members at work you must first dump your manners and treat the staff like slaves and look down your nose at fellow passengers. 13 dollars 50 cents per person per day surcharge should be made a lot clearer that this can be removed on request as I didn't hear about it until departure time and managed to rectify before I got off. Paying for water whilst in your room or leaving the ship on port days is a nightmare and surcharges added to all on board purchases makes this a very expensive way to spend your holiday when you would expect the cost of the holiday to cover this on board stuff. The on board entertainment was very limited and can't say it inspired me to look forward to night time mostly posh captains circle type classical and stuff one end of the ship and and common cinema type evening the other end really do need to look at your passengers and maybe don't run boring , acupuncture classes or muscle relaxation entertain us not medicate us. I could go on, as a holiday I enjoyed it but when on board I was actually boredstiff waiting to ports I could get off and have fun. And before you all jump on my back I am a very late 50s person not an energetic a youngster incase you all get me wrong. Princess Cruises I probably won't ever be back on board anytime soon and you will probably be pleased that it is another 20% refund you will save but please get the itinerary and the costs on a par with the performance of your crew and maybe just maybe you might get me to change my mind. The Medallion Program was rolled out when we boarded the ship, maybe on final test, but the results were life changing for frequent cruisers! For Elite and Platinum cruisers, unlimited internet was provided! The staff said this was temporary, but if Princess will continue with the program, it would definitely tip the scales toward Princess in cruise selection. Each room had an access point, and the internet was blazing fast the ENTIRE cruise. It was unbelievable! We were video chatting, streaming Netflix, watching ballgames, etc-day and night-port and sea days. Also, the room keys were personalized medallion disks-it was so handy to have your stateroom door automatically unlocked upon your approach with the medallion. So far, they were all the same color, but I understand Princess is going to customize by loyalty in the future. Also, there are electronic bulletin boards throughout that were great fun. Finally, ordering breakfast and checking my account balance electronically was super easy and efficient. Princess, it has taken a while on the roll out, but congratulations. We picked this cruise as the dates were close to our special anniversary and we decided it would be interesting to experience the new Panama Canal Locks as well as taking an excursion through the old locks. During our cruise, we were blessed with fairly good weather, some partly cloudy days, a shower or two, and the temperatures were warm, but not as hot and overly humid as we had expected. Because it was a 10-day cruise, there were not many children onboard and the the majority of passengers seemed to be retirement age and older. The port stops included Falmouth, Jamaica, Cartagena, Columbia, the Panama Canal, Limon, Costa Rica and Georgetown, Grand Cayman. As we had been to Jamaica twice on past cruises, we opted to just stay within the port complex in Falmouth, including a visit to Margaritaville and a few of the shops where we purchased some souvenirs. Because some of the port visits were limited in time, we choose Princess Excursions on this trip. Our visit in Cartagena, Columbia was quite early in the day, which was probably for the best as it was already starting to get a bit warm and sticky when we finished our tour and returned to the ship. Our Panama Canal experience was as expected, the highlight of the trip. The one negative during the ship's entering the locks was the narrator. She did not seem to be very well prepared in her presentation and did not hold our interest. The small boat excursion through the old locks was a full-day, and included a rather long bus ride both ways, but we felt it was definitely worth doing.. In Limon, Costa Rica we took an excursion on the pontoon boat through the Tortuguero Canal to see the various wildlife living along the waterway. We were fortunate to spot several monkeys, sloths, lizards. exotic birds and a crocodile. The stop in Grand Cayman was a return visit for us. Since it had been 20 years when we were last there, we noticed a lot of building had taken place. Our excursion included a visit to Seven Mile Beach, which certainly looked different with more resorts along the beach than we recalled The ship was overall in good condition, however, some areas did appear to need some updating. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've had on our previous cruises. Our cabin steward was very friendly and attentive, as were most of the staff and crew members we encountered. Meals, which of course, are subjective, were for the most part, quite good. There were some items that seemed a little off, both in the buffet and pizza venue. Our dinner in Crown Grill and the Ultimate Balcony Dinner we treated ourselves to were outstanding. We also ate in Planks, and the food was tasty, but certainly not the very best barbecue-type food we have had. We did not have a chance to try Planks this time. Overall, the entertainment was good. We particularly enjoyed the Bravo production show and the entertainer, Tom Franek, whose talent with the piano was outstanding. The activities in the Piazza and on deck were fun and we really enjoyed people watching at both venues. One of our favorite spots on the ship was the International Cafe, which we visited quite often for coffee and bite to eat. Unfortunately, there were 3 medical emergencies onboard and those folks had to be taken off the ship. Only one of these emergencies set us back a couple of hours, but we never missed a port. The propulsion problem that is talked about all the time on the Caribbean Princess was really a non-issue as far as we were concerned, and the captain made his best effort to keep us on schedule and kept us informed of any changes that were necessary We enjoyed this cruise and met some wonderful people onboard. We would recommend the Caribbean Princess to anyone considering a cruise on this ship. Read Less

I really enjoyed this cruise. The food was above average. There was a good selection on the menu. The buffet was average. Ports were wonderful. Six ports in six days kept us hopping. The two sea days at the end of the cruise gave us time to recover. The weather was great. Only one short rain storm. Pool lounge chairs were available when we decided to lay in the sun. Cabin Stewart did a good job keeping us well taken care of. He offered advice that was very helpful. I really enjoyed the ship activities such as trivia and other games, particularly on the sea days. The cruise director’s staff was excellent. Jace, Dan, and Kelly were particularly entertaining. This is a great itinerary. I would do this cruise again. I met a good number of people on this cruise. This really made the cruise more enjoyable. The new tv In the cabin had a much wider selection of shows and movies for when we were winding down at night. The decor in the cabins was nice. You could tell that there had been recent work on the ship. The shows in the theater were mixed. I did not see a song and dance show like I usually see. The pianist was awesome. The Bravo show was ok. It was more of an opera show than a musical I am used to. Karaoke was good and the Voice of the Ocean was excellent. Overall, this was a great cruise. Read Less

Caribbean Princess 4/11/18 Southern Caribbean 10 day cruise We had an inside cabin. The bed was extremely comfortable and once we had 2 blankets(we are always cold) we were set. We had a large flatscreen TV(42 inches or more) with the capability of seeing many new movies for free. We could pause a movie and continue watching whenever we wanted to. There were several news channels including MSNBC and CNN. There was a built in sleep timer on the TV as well. There was a hair dryer and a small refrigerator in the room. The closet is set up so you do not see the light from the bathroom which is a real plus. Since we are Elite Status we get several small bottles of liquor and soda which we are able to swap for 2 coffee cards which give you 30 specialty drinks as well as free coffee at the International Café. Being Elite also gets you free laundry service as well. Unfortunately since our cruise had a very large number of Elite passengers you could only get laundry done with a 3 day turnaround time. Usually it would take 1 day turnaround. This would have worked well for us except on our last night I had placed our remaining dirty laundry in a large white opaque plastic bag with Princess written in blue lettering in our closet to use for carrying our dirty laundry home and was going to pack it in our carry on luggage. Unfortunately on the last evening of the cruise this bag went missing. It had a lot of clothes in it and we tried to reach our cabin steward to see if he knew what happened to it. He was off duty so we notified the front desk and security of the problem. They came to our cabin and searched our checked luggage as well as our carry on luggage as well as the cabin with no luck finding the missing bag. We really suspect the cabin steward either thought it was trash or used it to put all the extra hangers from the closet in it. We had to fill out forms to send to Princess to "maybe" get reimbursed for the loss. They say it may take up to 6 weeks before we hear from them as to what they will do. I was in charge of setting up our Meet and Greet Party for our Cruise Critic Group. Peter, the Hotel Manager and the Cruise Director Steve attended the party. They both were very informative. Wish Princess would serve refreshments as the other cruise lines do at the Meet and Greets. We also had a Slot Pull in the Casino and Matt, the Casino Host was very helpful in supplying prizes for our big winners. Our Cruise Director was Steve Campbell. He had an excellent staff. Lots of trivia each day which we love. No problem understanding the cruise staff. All spoke English well and with the TV monitors you were able to read all the questions. We really missed having the traditional Welcome Aboard Show as well as the Farewell Show. We hope there were enough complaints about this that they will return the Welcome and Farewell shows in the future. For a 10 day cruise there was very few live shows. No magicians, no hypnotists and and only one comedian. The Bravo show was excellent but it was held on the same day as the Captain Circle Parties and made it difficult to see the show. This show was so good it should be done earlier in the cruise. We missed seeing the usual musical combos that use to be featured in The Explorers Lounge. Instead they simulcast the Theater show in the Explorers Lounge. We had signed up for the Egg Drop Challenge. We had spent sometime creating our parachute to land our egg safely. We named it"One Egg Over Easy". We were told that the time and date that the Egg Drop Challenge would be in the Daily Patter but it never appeared. I questioned the front desk about this but they had no idea why it did not occur. Very disappointing. The food served in the International Café was excellent as well as the specialty drinks. "Lucky" was our favorite Barista. He remembered our favorite drinks and remembered our names as well. The remodeled buffet was nice. I enjoyed the freshly wrapped sandwiches. Food by the pool at Salty's was good and the Hotdogs were the best I have ever tasted. Pizza was average. The main dining room had very nice waiters. Service was a little slow. The food was good. Shrimp, lobster, scallops, escargot and tenderloin steaks were our favorites. Also the chicken pot pie was out of this world. My husbands favorite dessert is the Princess Volcano on the kids menu. OK, he is just a kid at heart. For anyone who is handicapped the pool attendants have a portable lift to lower you into the pool. You just have to reserve it ahead of time for them to set it up. It would be nice if it could remain set up all the time and just cover the chair and mechanism and remove the battery at night. Embarkation took longer than usual because of the Coast Guard Inspection. Debarkation went very smoothly. Overall the cruise was very enjoyable. Read Less

Booked this cruise late (within 30 days) mainly because the price was so unbelievable. We had an BC balcony cabin on the Riviera deck that was very nice clean and comfortable although the room steward left a lot to be desired. We are frequent Princess cruisers and alway enjoyed the ships, food and service. A few observations on this cruise; 1, Very disappointed that Princess has discontinued the BOGO+1 drink deals. They also discontinued the Elite/Platinum 5PM get together. 2, Always seems they have elevator problems that never get fixed during the cruise. 3, Speciality dinning, Crown and Sabatini's has changed for the worse. I want to give special kudos to the staff at Crooners lounge, Jasper, Joseph and Saly who always has a smile and pleasant manner. Also the future cruise director, Tracy was very pleasant and super helpful. The ship had propulsion problems but they were un-noticalbe. We did not do any excursions as we have been to the ports before. Read Less

I had soda only a few times, but lots of yummy mocktails. Food was very good. I thought the burgers and pizza was just fair tho. Lots of music on the ship. Loved the dance band XCite! The 2 classical players were very good. The steel drum player, again very good. I did not attend the piano bar,but it was very crowded. Went to disco only a few times, very modern music with a lot of hispanic music. Lots of trivia which I enjoyed. After a first night late dining table which was not so good I switched tables and was at a table for six that was very enjoyable every night. Loved the very large screen TV's in room(think they were about 42inches). Loved the idea I could start a movie, stop it and resume it later on. This is a very large ship(18 decks)but I got around ok and only a few times were places really crowded. I would go on this ship again! Read Less

We chose this cruise primarily as it fitted in with our daughters school holiday dates and we wanted to do a cruise to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The itinary suited us perfectly as we love cruising the Caribbean but also we had never been to the Panama Canal before. In recent years we have done a couple of cruises with NCL which we have thoroughly enjoyed but on this occasion there was no suitable option with them, thus we opted for the Caribbean Princess. At this point i should point out that my wife and I are just into our 50’s, my daughter is 12 and we were also joined by my 81year old Mother-in-law and my parents both in their 70’s (elite princess members). The first thing that struck us was the average age of the passengers were considerably older than those that we had encountered on our recent NCL cruises. Although this didn’t detract from our enjoyment at all, it did mean that my daughter had fewer children to interact with as there were very few children on the ship. It also meant that the skywalkers nightclub which is a stunning venue was very sparsely populated most evenings and the relatively small casino never really got busy. As someone who enjoys the odd game of blackjack and in particular the “banter” amongst the players, i found myself on a couple of occasions sitting at the table on my own. This was a first for me on any cruise. My wife and I shared a Vista suite (C750) and my daughter and mother in law were in a club-class mini suite. Both Cabins were exceptional and suited our needs perfectly. The vista suite was very spacious and as as you would expect from Princess the bed was very comfortable. It also provided us with stunning views of the transit of the Panama canal. With our cabins, we were all able to enjoy the stunning fayre on offer at the Club-Class dining facility within the Coral Dining room. The exceptional service we received here was some of the best we have experienced on a cruise ship. The food also matched the level of service. We ended up eating here most evenings and always managed to get our party of 6 seated together. The one evening we didn’t eat in the Club Class was the evening of my wife’s birthday when we treated ourselves to a meal in the Crown Grill and we subsequently enjoyed another evening of culinary delight. After trying fresh world marketplace (buffet) a couple of times we resorted to having our breakfasts in the club class dining area, as you could order anything you wanted and it would be served with the level of exceptional service we experienced in the evenings. We did however end up eating most of our lunches at the world marketplace where there was plenty on offer. All in all we were very impressed with the food and service that was on offer on the Caribbean Princess and would probably rate the standard dining slightly higher than that which we experienced on our recent NCL cruises. However it must be pointed out that we usually opt for a number of speciality dining options on NCL which are more numerous in options compared to the Caribbean Princess. The entertainment was quite variable, with a wide selection of venues to get a pre-dinner drink and most having some form of entertainment. I would probably say the post dinner entertainment was not as extensive as the NCL options but I think this is once again is a reflection on the general age of the clientele. The only drawback of the cruise was the documented troubles the Caribbean Princess is currently experiencing with its propulsion systems. Although it in no way affected the smoothness of the voyage it did mean the port timetables were significantly changed from our original timetable, and this led to a couple of “rushed” excursions. In concluding we thoroughly enjoyed our time on the Caribbean Princess, with a lovely cabin, exceptional service, first class food and a lovely itinerary the primary ingredients of our trip were all in place. The extra’s including entertainment, lectures etc were not exactly our cup of tea but understand they were aimed at the majority of the older passengers but in no way did this impinge on our overall enjoyment. We will still probably look to NCL for our next cruise but would certainly consider another Princess cruise if there was no suitable NCL option. Read Less

My wife and I took the Panama Canal cruise in April 2018, 10 days and 5 ports. The good: weather was excellent; cruise staff was courteous and helpful; stateroom well kept; food choices generally excellent, although I missed fruits like papaya; exercise room well kept, ample equipment; a good variety of music, and dance classes; free on demand movies. My wife spent some time at the spa, which she enjoyed on those days at sea. We did not have time to take part with any of the enrichment programs on board, but we were entertained by the dance lessons and the evening music in the various launches. The not so good: we arrived at Fort Lauderdale on Easter Sunday. We found a church close to the ship terminal. Before the trip, we were told that we would have plenty of time to go to church. It took more than 2 hours to go from the airport to the ship terminal. The Princess cruise agent that we talked to did not pass our request to their people at the airport, and we received no help at all in our attempt to reach the church. We flew in to the Lauderdale airport, but flew out from Miami to catch an earlier flight. All were arranged with Princess; we even had to pay extra to transfer to Miami. However, when we got on board, we were given the wrong transfer tickets to Lauderdale. It took us three trips to the service desk to straighten thing out because the ship's computer could not access our account information at Princess headquarter. Eventually, it was sorted out, with no additional charge to us. The on-board evening shows on the first night and the second last night were very good. The rest were one person comedian, magic, or singing performances that last about an hour. The below expectations: the land excursions were mostly disappointing. There were insufficient information about the excursions themselves, or what to bring for the trips. We took the outdoor adventure in Jamaica, which included zip lining and tubing down a river. We were told that there would be a changing room, and a locker for storing our stuffs. It turned out that we had to rent a locker, but we did not bring any cash or credit card. We did not know that we need to wear close toe shoes for zip lining, and we had no money to rent the shoes. It took an hour on a bus to get to the place, and an hour back, leaving a little over 2 hours to do what we wanted to do. The cruise itinerary did not explain clearly that the ship would sail through three of the canal locks. We thought that the ship would stop at two ports in Panama, but not going through the canal, so we took the excursion which sailed through the locks in a smaller boat. The smaller boat went through three other locks of the Canal, ending in the Pacific side of Panama. The trip was uneventful, and it took more than an hour of bus drive to get to the smaller boat, and another hour and a half to get back to cruise ship. In Costa Rica, we took the excursion to the rain forest, which was quite interesting, and the local guide was knowledgeable, However, it took 2 hours bus drive to get to the park, and 2 and 1/2 hour to get back (traffic jam). We only had a little over 2 hours at the park, including lunch. All the traveling times on the buses were not clearly stated in the excursions page of the Princess web site. For all the land excursions, we were given tickets which showed clearly where and when to gather in the ship, after that we were taken to the gangway and left by ourselves to find the correct bus for the trips. The excursions were managed by local tour companies which had minimal communication with Princess cruise. The first thing we noticed when we boarded most of the buses was a big sign that said "Tips are welcome". The stingray tour on Cayman Island was a worthwhile experience, but we had only 45 minutes in the sea, although our ship was in the port for more than 6 hours. Overall, the land excursions were not well organized, not well explained, and/or took too much time traveling to and from the activity locations. My advice: Princes cruise should send their staff to join these excursions, then they would know how to improve them. Read Less

I chose this cruise for the Panama Canal. I didn’t want to go on holland because of the age of most guests. I made a huge mistake. The refit of 8 mil. Didn’t change the feel of a old ship. The rooms are tiny. I’m a single and I still feel cramped. No bathtub tiny tiny shower. Loads of staff but not very friendly. Like they are doing you a favor. Food in lido is horrible. Unimaginative not very good selections. Cheap on the cheeses and meats,Desserts stink. Presentation blah. Smell of sewage at night in my hallway. I guess going from a suite on celebrity to a balcony on Princess should never be done unless it’s a long time in between. BTW Room service menu is a joke.my plane was delayed so embarkation was the best part of the cruise. I was so late nobody else was there. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO CRUISING. Read Less

I wanted to sail through the new canal. An excursion allowed me to also travel through the old canal. It was a thrill. I liked the improvements made since my last cruise on Princess. The food was much better and I really liked being able to communicate with those in my group through the Princess internet. What a fantastic idea. The service was fantastic. Our dining room experience was wonderful thanks to Hector Del Sola, our waiter and I Kadek, our Jr waiter. They were most kind and made wonderful suggestions. Our cabin was clean and refreshed often. I was disappointed that one of my excursions was canceled. I chose another but had really wanted to see the dolphins. On one of my excursions, a tour member had her purse stolen. That caused me to be fearful of taking excursions. I did think that embarkation was a mess. Never had an experience like that before. I don’t know if it is just the Ft Lauderdale port? There were plenty of things to do on the ship. Read Less

The cruise was given to us as a Christmas gift. We enjoyed our time at sea, most of the food, the atmosphere and the ability to watch a movie under the stars. The food was good except for the pizza at the "Slice" restaurant and the hamburgers served in the dining room. We were very disappointed in them. Often, going down the hallway to our cabin you could spell a strong sewer smell other than that there wasn't any issues. The crew was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed having room service (coffee, fruit) delivered to our room and sitting on the balcony and enjoying the view. The excursions are quite expensive so we decided to wait until we go to port then decide on what we wanted to do. That seemed to work out well for us and we were able to see a lot of sights at a cheaper price. Thankfully, we also had very nice weather and no rain. Read Less
