Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Jewel of the Seas

I am currently on the Jewel of the Seas on the TA cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Southampton. We flew to Miami on the 4th April with American Airlines. This was the first time flying with them and I was very impressed with the whole experience. There was more leg room than with other airlines we had used in the past and the boarding process was much more organised. The airline crew were very ...

Impressive for an older vessel

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Silver Shadow

This was our first cruise with Silversea. Our overall impression was that the vessel, service and other offerings justified the premium price paid. Silver Shadow is an older cruise ship but it was in superb condition and very clean. With a passenger capacity of 360, its smaller size did not diminish its ability to cope with those few days when the weather turned a little rough. This was an ...

Beautiful Ship, ugly weather and one bad restaurant

This was our 4th cruise with Celebrity and I've always had great experiences. This was our first Transatlantic and our first Edge Class ship, the APEX. Everything regarding the ship was a luxurious with the finest appointments that I've ever seen on a ship. However, we did miss some of the features that have been on our previous Celebrity ships. We especially missed the Sky Observation Lounge with ...

A little about the cruise. Let's go again with Celebrity, this time - Celebrity Apex. In 2021 we went to the Caribbean on her older sister - Celebrity Edge. From the Fort, after two days at sea, we arrive in Bermuda, then another 6 days at sea, and the port of Cobh in Ireland. After Ireland there are two ports in England, Portland and Southampton. This will be our fourth time in ...

Smoking in casino ruined an otherwise great cruise

Gave high marks for the ship and the cruise in general. The service was great, I always found the crew friendly, smiling and helpful. My cabin steward was outstanding and I also found my favorite bar steward. In the main dining room they were mostly great.... there will always be some who are better than others, but I was always aware of how hard these people work and long days. It's pretty ...

Wanted to do another Transatlantic with two couples that have not been. Overall enjoyed the cruise but the experience with COVID onboard with 300-400 coming down with it put a damper on some activities and put the deflector shields up. Embarkation - What a breeze with the medallion in Fort Lauderdale, stayed at next door at the Marina Hilton arriving two days early. Took all of 10 ...

Low energy cruise director, good food, lots of crowding

I had never done a transatlantic cruise before. Thought I would love the sea days. Plus side the food was at the usual high standard of Princess. I make it a practice to avoid buffet, too hard to manage my own portion control and good place to get sick. So I mostly ate in dining rooms, for was good. But the timing was. Always off. Using tne medallion to make a reservation was useless. I was. ...

Iceland was on my bucket list. I also liked the Ireland (Cork) and Scottish (Shetland) ports as well. We had a rough start with a scorching hot state room ... that would not could down.. I had to be very insistent to finally get someone down to determine that the room was not getting adequate air flow. Our first port was Hallifax, which was nice. A few days at sea... then 3 Icelandic ...

Very nice ship—some changes are not so good

Love Luminae and Retreat so booked a suite. Ship is beautiful. Cabin large. The Retreat was great…living room layout with bar, snacks and concierge. Outdoor deck well thought out with bar, covered areas and food service. Luminae is very large and less intimate. Menu had its moments: halibut, eggplant parm 5 star, trout with eel sauce, not so much. Service was either excellent or terrible, ...
