This was the only cruise I have ever been on. Everything was mess. We were told that we could check in at 10am, board the ship at noon, rooms at 2pm and that our luggage would be waiting for us in our rooms. 10am check in- the lady was very slow and made several remarks about how she hated her job. Boarding the ship- it was almost 1pm before we could board the ship 2pm room check in- got to our room, there was no luggage. We were told that we would have our luggage by 5pm. I actually went and found my own luggage and took it back to the room. We came in from KY and were not dressed for the higher temps. Room- the room was not clean, there was trash under the bed and brown/reddish stains on the bathroom wall. Staff- the staff was very rude. On several occasions, the staff was so rude and spoke very little english. Food was not good at all and was served only at certain times, anything outside of the set times was for an extra charge. All entertainment you had to purchase tickets. Terrible experience. The excursion was worth the money, around $100 for a snorkel/kayak adventure. Read Less

So as first timers my partner and I had a splendid experience on board! The staff was pleasant and understanding. The rooms were better than anticipated, bathrooms great size. The ship was older but in great condition and SUPER clean. I could eat off The floors! As for the food, you can never go hungry, even at 1a.m after The club or casino lol. There is also a couple of restaurants to choose from! Over all the cost was affordable for what my partner and got out of it! We didn't have any high standards or expectations and we just wanted a get away and this was exactly what we got with the Grand Celebration! I would definitely recommend this ship for families who wanna get away for cheap money for a high quality vacationing experience. And the captain didn't rock the boat at all, steady sailing to and from the Bahamas! Read Less

I read soooo many reviews prior to booking and I was def on edge upon arriving but I must say I DID NOT ENCOUNTER half of the disasters i read. We traveled on a Saturday and came back Monday. Port of Palm Beach There were no long lines or long waits (we arrived around 4:30 pm) I pulled up got my belongings out the trunk, paid the 17$ per night for valet parking ( i read they accept cards and the gentlemen who approached us said cash only, so be prepared just in case) went thru security up to the check in (it's an advantage having the paper work completed prior to arrival) after documents were seen and key cards were given we went to the other side where u can take a welcome picture, book excursions, make reservations, and buy drink packages. I was not forced or pushed into buying anything, as a matter of fact we took our pic stopped to get a excursion paper and by passed everyone else and made our way on the ship. SHIP We went to the shore excursion booking desk to find out the prices on the one we were interested in, we may have waited maybe 5 minutes, I can say the jeep excursions was waaaayyy overpriced ($93 bucks per person) so we declined any excursions and decided we would just take a taxi out. We then decided to drop our luggage off and check out our rooms, we were on the floor E for Equinox, the room was very nice, nice size for the two of us, We never cruised before so we had nothing to compare it too but we did hear the horror stories of a small room, it was an ocean view and VERY VERY COLD, so we had no A/C complaints, as a matter of fact at night it got really cold and we did not see a thermostat to adjust so we just dealt with the extra blankets and each other to stay warmer :) we ran into our room keeper, i cant remember his name but he was very nice and always greeted us with a smile, we were promised a bottle of champaign because we were celebrating a anniversary, which was not in the room upon arrival, but i checked with customer service who got it delivered right away with no problem. we pretty much just tried to familiarize ourselves with the boat, we visited many of the rooms to see what they had to offer, i still cant remember the decks by hard, my bf was a master at it though :) We watched some activities that were going on and ate some hot dogs, hamburgers and fries. Listen out for the announcements they let u know whats going on and where, if u r a drinker they keep u informed of the drink specials as well :) We ate in the stellar room, i did not like being seated with strangers but hey it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, i had the salmon and veggies and the Jamaican jerk pork, i loved the salmon better the other dish was ok, i loved the cheesecake but i didn't like the desert choices the second night. we went to the regal room i think it was called and watched the show they offered at 7 but we didn't care for it much, so we didn't stay the entire time. That evening we went to the room with the saxaphone player and singer and I truly enjoyed there session and the songs they were playing was the bomb.com we visited a club also there music choices were good as well. the breakfast leftovers (we arrived around 10 am, so get their earlier for better variety) was not as good but we were ok with just putting something in our stomachs before getting off to see the island. I did experience a bit of sea sick the first night but i went to the customer service desk and got the complimentary pills. ISLAND We got off the boat and waiting on a taxi round trip for two of us was $20, WAY BETTER THAN $93. we were taken to Lucaya marketplace, where we picked up a few souvenirs(i can see where the shop owners can become a pest but I think of it as its there job and they are trying to make a living) we got some fresh conch lobster and conch salad which was very good and very cheap we then got a pina colada drink fixed inside a coconut, we visited there casino(which didn't have much a/c but we won $7 bucks off $1,cant complain) we also visited there beach but we didn't stay too long because it was very hot,we arrived back to the boat by 3:30 pm and was met by NO LINES.... We then went to freshen up ate dinner again in the stellar room, caught a free comedy show, hung out in a club then called it a night, We were up and ready by 8:30 AM many others thought like us,the earlier the better,we did have to wait but it was not nearly as long as the reviews i read, i can say the time consuming part was arrival back to the port and waiting on customs, ITS TRUE THE PASSPORT LINE GOES FASTER,and waiting on valet to bring the car. All in all I enjoyed our brief vacation and for the price i really cant complain, i recommend going yourself and experience it rather than going by what others say, i def didn't regret this Groupon purchase and next time we want to take the kids Read Less

This was my first time on a cruise and I ignored all the bad reviews when I wish I had listened! I have heard many people talk about other cruise lines where the food is great and you can eat any time. That wasn't the case here. The best food came out at 11pm, where you can have onion rings, chicken tenders, tacos. The food during the day is not very good. They only have four places you can eat, The Ocean Breeze Buffet, The Admirality Club, ($20 extra) The Stellar Prime and the Pico Bar. There is no 24 hour restaurant on the boat. The Ocean Breeze, which stays open the latest, closes at 2am. However, you can't eat because the crew is standing over the food or trying to sell you drinks! The only entertainment is a show at 9:45pm, filled with people trying very hard to pull you into liking their presentations, pay a halfway funny comedian an extra $13 bucks or karaoke by the pool. Last I hope they get rid of the woman that works with Customer Service on deck 5! Despite her rudeness, she practically laughed at us after we left the desk to enquire about the $50 credit they decided not to give us. Do yourselves a favor and save for a bigger name cruise line where you can really enjoy yourself! Read Less

This was my first cruise on a ship from Florida. This ship is a lot larger than their previous ship. The ship's cabins are modern and very clean. They have lots and lots of framed artwork along the walls on each of the passenger decks. The entertainment in the Encore Lounge knows how to get the party started. This band can play anything...and does it well!! The staff are very, very nice. The buffet serves food from the time you board, and until you return to West Palm Beach. The food was delicious, especially in the Stellar Prime restaurant. My kids are grow, but they have three different venues for kids of all ages to have fun. They have a venue with computers that guests can use, and it also has board games for guests to play, such as checkers, chess, and more. I did not have time to visit the Spa, but it was very, very upscale and offered a lot of services. It has a very nice and CLEAN fitness center. I would definitely sail on this cruise ship again, and bring my family and friends with me. Read Less

We were tricked into going to a mandatory time share meeting before we were allowed to get our tickets to the ship. This took up the better part of a day. We were not aware that this was required. Every upgrade we were offered, such as the hotels, meal plans, etc) was a waste of money. The kids had very little to do & pool did not stay open very late. This was a party ship, no doubt, but there should have been more accommodations other than bar-like atmospheres, where the drinks are watered down (very little alcohol) & over priced. We would have been better off flying straight into the Bahamas. This ship was nothing more than a ferry. Read Less

We had a slight mix up with the initial booking dates of the ship for the on board KT Tunstall concert but thanks to Maribel and Jim this was rectified and my son and I were able to see the concert which was first class. Will definitely take the ship again, cabin was very clean and we had an excellent trip. Would also recommend the spa, had one of the best massages ever whilst my son played next door in the kid's club. Read Less

Ok First off let me just say, there are some horrible reviews out there for this cruise!!! I honestly think that this just isnt for those who have high expectations for something that is free!!! You get what you pay for!! Me and my Husband really enjoyed this cruise!! it was a great get away from our horrible Michigan winter weather!! I was so happy just to be in the sun again!! And yes their are hidden fees and its not "free" but it was still cheaper then paying for everything out of pocket!! All in all we paid about $1500 for our trip not including plane tickets. heres the major stuff we had to pay for: Alamo Rent a car $450 (insurance 25$ a day and young adults under 24 yrs 25$ a day) Grand Lucayan resort $83 -2 nights Ramada Plaza hotel $45 -3 nights Grand Celebration $130 -2 nights Wings valet parking $82 -4 nights Gas fill up 22$ Everything else we spent was either on food or souvenirs for friends. For the food at the Ramada Hotel you are given food vouchers and you only pay tip and like 3% of total. This was a buffet restaurant and the food was alright. service was ok too. The cruise ship was awesome in the food department!! it had two different buffets that were completely free!! The food was so good too!! service was awesome!! The Grand Lucayan resort you had to buy your own meals, which me and my hubby were happy for a change anyway, however all meals there were super expensive!!! cheapest one we had was by ordering pizza up to our room and it was still 30$. Most expensive meal for both of us together was 50$ (we're not big spenders :) The rooms we got ...not too bad!! The ramada was definitely not my favorite though!! Its was annoying where we got put, all the way in the back of the hotel 3rd floor where the elevators didnt work! Also the workers there were polite but not very helpful! When we tried to leave for our cruise we were told we were supposed to be staying another night, so they wouldn't let us check out and sent us to the welcome center to get it figured out. we had to wait in line for 20 min only to be told it was ok for us to check out.. stupid!! Also DO NOT leave anything in your room because you will not get it back!! My husband accidently left work out supplements and when we got back from our cruise we tried THREE different times to get it from lost and found and were told "they would get back to us" or "they didnt have keys". Grand Lucayan resort was Amazing!!! We Upgraded to an ocean view and it was perfect!!! it had a balcony, a huge tv, and great bed. although we had room 666 which was slightly scary lol. The pools at this place, so awesome and beautiful!!! they overlooked the ocean and even had a swim up bar! Wish we stayed in the Bahamas longer!! I could go on and on!! The beach was just perfect!!!! so beautiful!!   Read Less

I have read my share of bad reviews, and for a long time I avoided making plans to cruise. On July 11, 2014 I had the pleasure of marrying the best man ever and to celebrate we planned a cruise. It was AWESOME, from the minute we arrived and they valet my car, to the simple scanning in and ticket process we were on the boat in under 20 minutes. The staff at the port was wonderful. Getting on was a breeze. When we got to our room, I was a bit upset I was not told about it being so small, but that had nothing to do with cruise staff but the original company I signed up with. We immediately went back to the port and they upgraded us at a fraction of the price I was being told by travel agency. Being that it was our honeymoon we had reservations at THE COVE, We sent to have our clothes ironed (which they were very prompt) On receiving back my dress I noticed the zipper had somehow UN-stitched from the dress, I was in total panic mode I cried and was beside myself. I called room service and was amazed they understood me through my tears. They came and reassured me all would be OK, they called THE COVE and explained and the restaurant was very understanding and said just to come when all was right. Budi was absolutely amazing and had my dress repaired and returned in 30 minutes. From then until the end of our trip it was truly smooth sailing for us. The Cove was AMAZING, the staff very attentive and the ambiance was spectacular. Our excursion was postponed due to weather but that is to be expected with snorkeling. Every moment their was something going on, from comedy, to crowd participation games, movies, nightclubs, casino and karaoke. I was very happy, a two day get-away was just the right amount of time for first timers like us to get our sea-legs. On our last day we were talking with Natacha at the excursion desk and she informed us of a special that I could just not turn down :-), so I'm happy to say that I will be taking my daughter on her first cruise this November 15th.. This was our first cruise and we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Checking in was quick and easy. We arrived in our room to find it clean and cozy. Then we explored the ship while waiting to have dinner at our scheduled time and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. As we set sail a beautiful rainbow welcomed us to the open sea while our curtious and efficient server kept us well cared for.We gazed at the stars and moon on the upper deck and stayed up late enjoying the many ativities. It wasnt hard to wake up early as we sailed into the beautiful Bahamas for a day of snorkeling, shopping, and laying on the beautiful beach for a stunning suntan to wear to dinner at the crystal dining room while we ate a deliciously prepared dinner and fun desserts. We celebrated with the staff and chefs as they rocked to "The happy song" that will forever remind me of our wonderful time together. Thank you to all of your staff, entertainers, spokesman, and anyone else responsible for such a fun memory. Read Less

Upon arriving at the Port of Palm Beach, we discovered the check-in process is very disorganized, confusing. and extremely time consuming. When I booked this cruise, I was told that if I upgraded my cabin for $200 it would accommodate the 3 of us and the bathroom area would be handicap accessible. but it was not. I was born without arms and utilize a 3-wheel electric scooter to get around and cannot walk or stand up on my right leg without fear of falling. Our cabin 7331 for our overnight trip to Freeport was L shaped with bunk beds on the 2 walls on the right. The doorway from the hallway was extremely small and again had a small step up making it extremely difficult to negotiate to even enter the room. Once I got into the room my scooter took up over half of the walkway in the cabin. You had to step up to get to the toilet and shower which was located in the far left side of the room. We had to put the square stool from the room in the bathroom so I could get up from my scooter to the stool and then transfer to the toilet and of course reverse the process to get back on my scooter. We went up to Deck 9 where the pool is located during our departure to enjoy the view. We asked numerous members of the crew if they had a handicap accessible bathroom and no one really knew if there was one or not. We went to Deck 4 for dinner and were again still trying to find a handicap accessible bathroom when another passenger told us that she saw a handicap accessible bathroom on the map, which is on Deck 4 down by the View. It turns out that is the ONLY handicap bathroom on the entire ship. One of the elevators was too small and another was a little larger that I could turn to the right and get my scooter in but there was no room for anyone else unless they climbed over my scooter, which my friends did quite often. The wait for the larger elevators was ridiculous and the majority of the time there was so full that I was not able to get on or the people waiting just walked around me and go on themselves. The Island Seas Resort was handicap accessible including our room, the white sandy beach was excellent and never crowded and all the staff were extremely friendly. We went on the catamaran for a day-tour of the island which was fantastic. The green water on the coral reef was exceptional. I even tried to find a flight back from Freeport to West Palm Beach but was unsuccessful. I really wasn't looking forward to spending another miserable night on the ship for our return trip to West Palm Beach. For our return trip, we were in cabin 6101 which believe it or not was even worse than the room 7331. This cabin had bunk beds on both sides and with my scooter in the room there was little or no space to even walk or put our luggage. There was a step up to the toilet again, however because the bathroom was located just inside the doorway from the hallway, I was not able to get my scooter close enough to the door to the bathroom and there was a chair with armrests not a stool, so I couldn't use the bathroom in this cabin at all. The A/C until was not working and someone came to repair it, but it still didn't work. We called room service to bring us a converter so I could plug in the charger for my scooter, but no one ever showed up. In the morning, we couldn't find anyone to take our luggage, so we had to use the small elevator and pack everything in there to get to deck 3 to get off the ship. One of the crew brought a cart and took all of our luggage and us through customs rather quickly. Once we got outside, I had previously reserved a handicap ramp van though Yellow Cab to take us from and to the airport only to discover the Port of Palm Beach security wouldn't allow Yellow Cab handicap van in because Yellow Cabs are not allowed in the port. I had previously called at least 5 different cab companies in the West Paml Beach area trying to find suitable transportation for me and my scooter and now security didn't want to let him in to pick us up. They let the Yellow cab in to drop us off and finally they let him in to pick us up and take us to the airport. Hi, my husband, son and I went on this cruise, first cruise for them, second cruise for me. This cruise came at the end of a 8 day Orlando family vacation. We rented a car both to and from Orlando to cocoa beach. It was very easy to drive there. (even with the tolls) We went to board the ship around noon and it did take awhile to get everything set up for the 3 of us. We then boarded and went to our room to unpack. We had a couple drinks, (they were expensive), and looked around. The cruise was very comfortable, but after 4 days there wasn't a lot to do on the ship. We went to the comedy show, and another dancing, singing show. We played mini golf, went to the adult hot tubs, did a little shopping. They have great deals on liquor and cigarettes on the ship that you can take home with you. We paid for a junior suite and I'm so glad we did. I wouldn't want to stay in a room any smaller. My husband smokes and it was very convenient for him to have the balcony. I should have paid more attention to the direction the boat was going in order to take advantage of the sunrises and sunsets. The bed was fantastic and I've never slept better. The room was in a great location in regards to the rest of the ship, everything was easy to get to. Our room steward was amazing and he took extra time to make our room even more wonderful, We enjoyed this room.  Our cabin steward was fantastic and we tipped him extra(we paid all our tips ahead of time) The elegant night was okay, the lobster was good. We tended to eat on the lido deck because we wanted to stay in shorts and sandals and relax. We met some really great people on the ship, both cruisers and those that were working on the ship. The cruisers were varied. There were families, couples, singles, young people and elderly. My husband and son both liked cruising enough to go on another one, and that was the whole idea of going on this one. Read Less

We had been travelling through the USA for 3 weeks & finished off with a 4 day cruise to Grand Bahamas, boarding at West Palm Beach. After booking we had read some poor reviews so weren't sure what to expect, but obviously written by very picky people. Our experience was fantastic, and far exceeded our expectations. The ship whilst not large like some, is perfectly adequate for the number of people cruising - both legs of the journey were full, but we never felt over-crowded.Would recommend an outside cabin, it was roomy, the ensuite a good size and very clean - in fact we were impressed with the overall decor and cleanliness of the whole ship, and people we met at dinner who had cruised on several cruise lines commented positively about this also. The restaurants and food were great, the evening meal in Rio restaurant was far better than the usual buffet, with a great selection and quality food. The wine list was extensive, even great NZ wines at reasonable prices. The ship is lively from the time you step on board. Staff are friendly, attentive but not in your face. The entertainment in all the various bars and decks was outstanding, something for everyone and we enjoyed wandering from deck to deck. The spa was also great - massage and hair conditioning fab. This was a fantastic first experience, the Bahamas is beautiful & we enjoyed our couple of days there before cruising back. Totally recommend Celebration Bahamas. Read Less

I definitely had concerns about the cruise after reading reviews on the Bahamas Celebration...however, as a very critical person myself, I must say I was pleased with the 2 day cruise! Of course there were somethings I didn't like, but the pro's outweighed the con's. Yes, there are 220 volt outlets, but if you do research before you came (which I did) I already knew that so I just bought a 220 to 110 converter online from amazon for about 30 bucks. It worked great. Now, online their website states they only give converters to people if its an emergency. When I called, the lady I talked to said no, they give out converters on the ship first come first serve. Due to the fact this lady I was talking to didn't sound so smart, I just decided to bring my own converter anyways.....and it worked fine. The room - I had ocean view room. Very small, but hey you don't come to the cruise to sit in the room all day anyways. The food - went to 9th deck to eat when I first got on boat - that was like cafeteria food, not good at all. First night we had reservations at Crystal Room - it was really good. Second night, we went to the Cove for additional 25 dollars per person (plus tip included). I will say it was definitely worth it...it was a birthday celebration for my mom and she really enjoyed the dinner. Everything was good and wait staff was excellent and really nice. The ship overall is old but kept up good in my opinion. The pool - that's like a big glass tub LOL....didn't get in that thing. I didn't go to any of the shows, I was too pooped both nights by 10pm (oldie) but my mom and sister went to one the first night and they said they enjoyed it. THE CONS or SURPRISES I SHOULD SAY At check in - they want a credit card on file or a $100 dollar cash deposit per person....for what purpose? Who knows but I didn't like the fact I had to put a credit card on file and I just couldn't pay cash for stuff as I go. I purposely gave them a credit card I keep for companies I don't trust because it only has a 300 dollar credit limit on it. Then I get a note in my room saying oh they tried to charge my card over 300 dollars and they couldn't. For what reason were they doing that when I didn't buy anything? Smh Freeport - Surprise, they never tell you that the port we are docking into has no beach area, until you're on the ship. You're three options when you dock are stay on the boat, shopping in freeport on your own, or doing some of the execursions they offer. We decided to do the glassboat tour and grand lucan hotel beach day but glass boat tour was cancelled due to water being too choppy. There was nothing else really left we wanted to do because by the time we found that out, everything was sold out. So our family decided to just do the grand lucyan beach day without the lunch for like 40 bucks per person. The grand lucyan beach area = AWESOME!!! They had an infiniti pool was beautiful, beach was beautiful and had jacuzzi, volleyball, a bar outside with tv to watch games (it was a Sunday NFL Football woooo!!!) anyways, the hotel beach day was worth it. Then there is shopping walking distance from the hotel and you can safely walk there without being hounded or scared to walk to the area. When we got to the shopping area, we found another tour place so I asked them what tours they had available since most of the cruise ship tours were sold out. The lady sold me the "Dolphin Encounter" Tour for WAYYYY less than what they tried to sell it to us for on the cruise ship. Dolphin Encounter on cruise ship was $110 for adult, $98 for child. The lady by the hotel charged me $85 for adult and $50 for child on the same exact tour. SOLD!!! My son and I went, and it was awesome! It took about two hours, then we went back to the grand lucyan hotel and stayed there until 5pm. Something else that also sucked was it took about an hour waiting in line to get back through customs when we got back to Palm Beach. I say if you are looking for a quick getaway to paradise this is definitely the cruise to take I really loved it!!! Read Less
