Average cruise, nothing special

I like to take a repositioning cruise to relax after a long road trip. If not for the bridge games I would’ve jumped ship. The cabin had a ticking noise all night, the beds were hard, and there was a mildew smell in the hallway the entire cruise. We always eat in the buffet because we like the many options. We are kosher and have more choices on the buffet. The service at the buffet was excellent ...

Good for the ports of call. Ship is old

We chose this cruise because it was one of the few with remaining availabilities for our last minute booking, departing out of Barcelona. We were traveling with our parents who enjoy cruising. It's a highly ambitious itinerary, visiting 6 ports within 7 nights. I think this is a great option for active traveler who wants to pack as much as possible into a few days. Full disclosure - I've been to ...

Was asked by my friends to join them for the cruise. The first days where ok. Then the problem started my visa gold card of the BOV bank of Malta was not excepted,my card from the Rabo bank no good. So the only option was to change Euros into Dollars for a rate 1Euro is 1.05 dollar very bad. Then the prices for wine, beer etc. are rediculous, even the price of the special restaurants an ...

Large ship, overall service quality?

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Freedom of the Seas

Freedom of Seas, Oct 5-15, Western Mediterranean. First time of such a large ship. Really didn't notice the other 4000+ passengers, but felt that overall 'service' was lacking compared to smaller (2000 or smaller) ships we've been on in the past. Room wasn't made up one night. Nobody at Guest Services seemed to care. Room attendant was very apologetic. Of ten nights in the MDR, asked at ...

Whirlwind week seeing Europe, Disappointingly average cruise

Having cruised exclusively with Royal Caribbean 11 times I know what to expect when I board a Royal Caribbean ship. We have been fortunate throughout our voyages to encounter many exemplary crew members who strive to make our cruise vacation even better than the last. We have tempered our expectations enough to know what is average service and what is exemplary service. This being our 3rd ...

Nice ship and interesting port of calls but bad excursions

We wanted to try this company. Rooms are fine and the ship is great even if we prefer Princess Cruises. Embarkation procedure are fine. The cabin is ok even if a little bit tired. Entertainment on the ship is a little bit too much for us. We were expecting more peace. We didn't like the food... Excursions are terrible. We had a tour in Rome. The bus was totally full and too hot and ...

Great itinerary, not great execution on board

We chose this cruise for the itinerary, but a good friend of mine has been on this exact ship 3 times and raves about it. Admittedly, he has much younger children, so really enjoys the kid-friendly options on the boat, but we were whelmed with the overall service, failure to accommodate food allergies and a failure to abide by prior arrangements made with "special services" for a medical issue. ...

I chose this cruise for nostalgic reasons. I cruised with my husband and 3 teenagers. The kids had a great time with lots of things to do in the evenings. The ship itself was impressive, the food was good and the entertainment was spectacular. IN THE DINING ROOM OUR ATTENDANTS HAD NO PROBLEM CHANGING DISHES FOR MY VEGETARIAN DAUGHTER We organized our own visit to the vatican which was great ...

Cabin needs renovation and food was mediocre

We chose Freedom of the Seas because that's the ship that was available for our dates. It wasn't my first choice as I have previously cruised on the newer Oasis of the Seas and last year cruised on its sister ship Independence of the Seas. Don't let reviews fool you when you read cabins have been renovated. Yes, they've added a few new cabins but most are still in need of renovations. We ...
