Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Balmoral

On Saturday 30th April my partner and I travelled with Fred Olsen on Balmoral to Norway. My partner and I are in our early 20's, so much younger than most travellers. We found that the design of Balmoral was quite dated and feel that it could do with a make-over, new carpets, chairs etc. but no problems with the facilities so we couldn't complain. We arrived at Dover at 12pm (the times given ...

My partner saw the cruise advertised as a last minute deal via Iglu so it was booked on the Monday and we sailed the following Sunday. I have to say that both Iglu and Fred Olsen were brilliant. My other half had a 'significant' birthday on the Wednesday of the cruise and I told Fred. I thought I could maybe sort out a cake but I discussed it with the company and a very helpful young lady called ...

We chose this cruise because of the convenience of a Newcastle departure,we live in the north of England and wanted to avoid flying. Check in was easy and boarding was well organised. We had a cabin in the forward section on the 4th deck, lots of storage and kept nice and clean by housekeeping. When we sailed away the sun was shining and temperatures made us feel as if in the med ,not ...

We cruised in April in a 'Superior Outside Cabin' which was anything but. If you want to sleep at night on this ship, or at any other time come to that, do not book cabins 4141 or 4143 as the roaring from the deck above is unbearable. There may be other cabins that suffer from this noise nuisance and it would be worth your while to enquire when booking. We asked to be moved but, unfortunately, ...

One of our bucket list items was a cruise to the Fjords of Norway. Our first ever cruise was booked in December 2016 via Thomson and we booked on the Braemar - Fred Olsen. This was definitely the right choice. The ship was exactly right for us. Everything was so well organised from arriving at the terminal in Southampton to getting off again. The ship itself was spotlessly clean. The cabin, an ...

My wife and I have always preferred colder destinations, and the thought of possibly seeing the Northern Lights, and snowy scenery of Norway, attracted us to book this 15 night cruise. Also, the fact that we could sail direct from Southampton. After finding our ABP parking, which went smoothly, we were early for booking in, but after a not too boring wait we found ourselves on board - again, ...

we chose this cruise for its interesting itenary and size of ship...and the fact that one didn't need to fly to join her...as we booked late we selected an anchor package which suited our budget well... the staff cabin activities and adventures we had were great ..We particularly loved seeing the ice hotel, and having a great ride in Tromso with the beautiful huskies, cuddling the 6 week old husky ...

Southampton is convenient as a departure point,we wanted a less stressful experience than airports and wanted to see the Norwegian Fjords. This cruise ticked all those boxes for us. Embarkation was hassle-free, the ABP parking a bit dear but very efficient, as it was for disembarkation. The Braemar is a well run ship, hand cleanliness very obvious and emphasised as it should be. The crew ...

This cruise was called Fred's Favourite Fjord's We chose this cruise mainly because it was going to the FJords and fitted in with my holiday dates. With the added bonus it was on Balmoral a ship that I've wanted to try for a while now but until now had never managed. This was my third time with Fred but first on Balmoral. We travelled down to Newcastle on the day of the cruise by train ...
