Disappointing first time cruise with Fred Olson
"I think if Fred Olson could sort out the food and offer more choice at the buffet, sort out the WiFi and create a bit more of a happy atmosphere around the pool then it would be very good value for money. There was only an hour or so of music by the pool when the ship set sail but other than that it was pretty dead...."Read More

Christmas markets cruise

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Borealis

The ship was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The service on board from every member of staff was excellent. Our cabin was upgraded for us and provided welcome extra space for three of us in a beautifully appointed suite. The entertainment was good, shows by the crew and a comedian we have seen before and thoroughly enjoyed again along with an excellent singer. Talks from the guest speakers ...

Disappointing decline in Fred Olsens standards

Have sailed several times with Fred Olsen on the Borealis, this will probably be my last cruise with them. The suite was tired looking, with two large patches of water damage stained black. Despite this, it had everything needed for a comfortable short cruise. The cabin stewardess was excellent, nothing felt like too much trouble, but this really is where the positives end. The ship has not aged ...

Last cruise with Fred we were given our first ever upgrade to a magnificent Premier suite, well would you believe it,it happened again, We stayed the night at the Crown Plaza adjacent to the cruise terminal and left the car there, embarking was fairly easy and our suite was as before sumptuous, First meal in the Aurora was a disaster, service was abominable, staff were running around like ...

We chose this cruise on Borealis from Liverpool at 4 weeks notice .we thought we would try an in inside cabin, very roomy plenty of storage .Very acceptable. We were given second sitting dining which we managed to change once on board the ship. Apparently we were very fortunate. The first night’s entertainment was a show by the ship’s entertainers. It was very downhill from there, till their ...

After completing our latest cruise which would be No 18, I personally believe this one to be the Best to date. Second sailing out of Liverpool on Borealis and this itinerary for Norway and the North Cape and the Midnight Sun just shades previous sailing. Boarding at Liverpool very smoothly done, in quick time. Cabin efficiently maintained by Beth, good welcome with a smile. All Inclusive bar ...

Back to cruising finally after pandemic, despite saying l would not travel with Fred again due to previous disasters, having acquired 2 newer ships we were tempted again, so we booked a short 7 day Norway trip, three weeks to go Fred rang and told us our cabin was a disaster zone and they'd have to move us, would we accept an upgrade to a Premium suite, well after a lot of thought (2 ...

Beautifully refurbished ship (Nov 22) far better then P & O in every way

Not been on Fred Olsen for a while and chose this 14 day cruise to see the Northern Lights or should I say hope to see the Northern Lights! Embarkation was at the Liverpool Cruise Terminal, and it was a doddle, far better than Southampton. There had been some cases of gastro-enteritis on the previous cruise, so we were late boarding as the ship had a top to bottom clean before we could board. ...

We've just returned from a trip on the Borealis to Norway and the Shetland Isles, The staff were amazing and very attentive. The ship appeared clean, though I didn't see any anti virus sprays being used, just area's wiped down with the same cloth, that would of actually spread the virus. And we had lots of dust buddies under the beds. However, the beds were super comfy and the pillows, we ...

Well appointed but an attitude change may be required

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Borealis

We chose the cruise as it was easier for us to reach Liverpool and was less likely to be affected by an increase in Covid infections The ship itself is very well refurbished from Holland America line. It is excellently appointed and did not disappoint in this regard. For health reasons we selected using the Freedom fare, a Premier Suite close to a lift and friends. We have mobility issues and ...

Disappointing first time cruise with Fred Olson

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Borealis

We chose this cruise because it sailed from Liverpool which is only thirty minutes away from were we live. We usually sail from Southampton. This is our 11th cruise and our first time with Fred Olson. I would like to start with the positives. Embarkation was quick. Our luggage was taken off us as we arrived and was in our cabin an hour later. We opted for an inside cabin. We usually have a ...
