This was our first Celebrity cruise, 4th overall cruise. It was just my husband and myself travelling. We were celebrating my 50th birthday. We typically pick cruises based on itinerary first, ship second. We picked the Edge because it is a new ship and we wanted to experience that. We were fortunate enough to be able to book about 2 weeks before the prices shot up out of range. The ship: The ship did not disappoint. We marveled at every detail. The public spaces were well laid out. I especially liked the size of the outdoor pool, which, when not busy, is large enough to do laps in. I know previous reviews complained about the lack of bars and seating in the martini bar. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a drink (except in the club, where their bar was seriously lacking). We did spend most of our time at the martini bar as their bartenders were top notch. We only walked through Eden once, never saw a show, so we can't comment on that. Eden had some nice quiet spaces, though the prices of their drinks exceeded what our allotment was on the premium package. We went to most shows, especially the ones that featured live music. We loved the live music shows (not the theatrical ones), though one complaint on this is the over-the-top autotuning. The Whitney Houston tribute singer was so autotuned, it made her sound horrible! The comedian was fantastic! Embarkation/disembarkation: We were on the ship within 10 minutes of arriving to the port. Disembarkation was the same. Our stateroom: We had an oceanview stateroom. This room had plenty of space to move around in. My only comment on this is that it would be nice if the bed had an additional 6 inches of space between it and the window. It was a tight squeeze to get in on that side. There were also no outlets on the window-side of the bed, so I had to charge my phone on the other side. With no clocks in the room, and not being able to keep my phone charged on that side, it was difficult to determine the time when waking up in the middle of the night. There was plenty of closet space for all of our belongings for the 11 night voyage (I know I packed a good 8 days worth of clothes to wear day and night). Activities: This itinerary was port-intensive with only 2 sea days. I felt there was plenty to do if you wanted it. We went to most shows, spent lots of time in the martini bar, theater, and the club. I even attended one talk about the Naples port. I actually wished I had gone to some of the other talks, it was so informative. During the sea days, there were trivia, martini tastings, pool-side games, etc. We chose to chill during those days, as we were exhausted from the port days. The only comment here was the lack of channels and free movies in the stateroom. A couple of nights we retired early due to having to get up early the next day to go to port. Who wants to pay $14.99 to watch a movie that we are just going to fall asleep to? Service: The service was top notch on the EDGE. Captain Kate and crew did a phenomenal job rearranging ports so we could see Santorini and Mykonos. The crew was extremely responsive to our needs, from the guest relations, to our stateroom attendant, to the bar tenders and waiters. Our favorite main dining room was Tuscan, due to its outstanding service. We felt Cypress was a little disorganized in the service department. The food was excellent in all places. We didn't dine at any specialty restaurants, so we can't comment on those. Ports: All of the ports were a joy to visit, except Sicily and Santorini. I think it was partially our fault for not researching Sicily enough. Definitely get a shore excursion as the port town is not too impressive. We liked Santorini, though we hated having to climb up the hill to get there. There were 4 ships in port, with a 2 hour wait for the tram. We walked up the steps. This was a big mistake, and is enough to make us not want to ever go to Santorini again. It was very dangerous as it is the same path the mules take as they carry passengers up the mountain. I felt the passengers riding the mules weren't safe either as the mules had a mind of their own, were not tethered, and could basically walk (or trip) any way they wanted up the hill. When they dropped the passengers off, it was a stampede as they ran back down the hill. The town of Fira was nice, but not as beautiful as some of the other islands we visited on this trip. The island is basically overrun with tourists. It is difficult to walk through the narrow streets to navigate through the crowds and vehicles, which appeared to drive anywhere! Read Less

The boat is a bit older but had some really nice unique things, like in the blu dining room you could see out from every seat, the bar kept curtains open later and the ocean view cafe was spread out so flowed better. They also left salad bar open longer which is great if you got back later in the day. The need to reconfigure the spa and Persian gardens.spa rooms were too bright the Persian garden too dark. Flip them!!I missed the fresh fruit that we got daily in aqua class. Also if you are cruising in europe pre book and pre pay for excursions to avoid added vat charge. Also Tuscan and qsine were not as good as on solstice. I loved that the pool areas were larger in both the solarium and the open one,but I hated that the canyon spa, breakfast, lunch area was dark, hidden and didn't have ice. We had an issue with a cancelled due to conditions excusion,we had to get the group together and argue to be reimbursed. Thanks to Norbert it was resolved but was alot of wasted time. Read Less

My husband and I decided to book a very spontaneous trip on MSC Magnifica four days before the ship was to set sail through Expedia. We were coming from Boston, USA and took a non-stop flight to Rome, then a smaller flight to Bari, Italy where we embarked. We read some of the negative reviews (mostly about smoking on the ship and staff being rude) but decided to risk the trip anyway. We are so happy we did!! We found most of the criticisms of MSC and the crew to be completely inaccurate. From the moment we boarded, the staff, crew and bartenders were fantastic and very responsive to any of our needs. We did not have to wait very long for drinks, everyone was friendly to us and the ship was gorgeous. The cabin was ready when we arrived with our bags already in the room. The cabin was nicely furnished, very clean, comfortable bed and a beautiful room with a balcony. The dining in the main dining room at night wasn't my favorite. The food was good but nothing blew me away with flavor. If you are what we call in the states "a foodie", this is probably not the cruise for you. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was good, however. Very nice salad bar, hamburgers, french fries, pasta, homemade pizzas, rice, Thai dishes and lots of other choices. We went on the cruise for the Ports of calls and a spontaneous adventure. The dining portion and food were a low priority for us. The Activities on the crew were fun, we danced, had drinks at the cool bars, sat in the sun, and attended many of the Broadway-style shows. They were cute shows with skilled dancers and singers and a nice way to end the night. The thing we loved the most was the amazing ports of call. Every Greek island and/or city (Venice, Montenegro, Bari) was outstanding. Too much to write but a trip of a lifetime. Everything and more that we had hoped for. I highly recommend this cruise. The only small difficulties were lots of Europeans do smoke, but only outside. Not many people spoke English so we were a little isolated (but my husband found that to be a positive lol), the initial Embarkment was a 2.5 hour wait to get on board, and lines were a bit confusing in the buffet area for breakfast and lunch. I recommend going to the buffet right when it opens to avoid the frenzy. The only people I found to complain were the Americans who didn't have a lot of travel experience. Their expectations were too high for some of the places they visited off the ship. We understood that traveling to these ancient cities there would be lines and confusion since they are not equipped for the influx of thousands of tourists descending on their infrastructure at one time. Some of the ports of calls would have 5 cruise ships show up at one time letting 4,000 people off per ship. One last thing, I do believe you need to be average to good shape to walk around these ports of call. I am in good shape (45 year old female) and found it to be moderate to above moderate exercise to get around with lots of cobblestone walkways and uneven terrain. I was grateful my 80 year old parents decided not to attend the cruise with us as I don't think they would have had the energy to walk around. Overall I would rate this an excellent trip and would do it again with my family in a heartbeat. Read Less

The cruise was a treat for myself, my wife and Son (21). It started off great with a gentle cruise out of Venice capturing the views of let’s face it, stunning architecture. With purchased the all inclusive drinks package. Again what we expected no hidden nightmares. Ship Dated and in a poor state of repair : toilets not up to scratch along with the public areas below spec Sun beds dirty with no comfy option. Again we are Diamond members - should be a free option for regular members. Trips : Appalling: overly expensive with little to no quality. Absolute rip off I honestly cannot point out one positive thing other than the guide they were terrible for such a fabulous itinerary. We have complained to RCI via feedback however yet again no response. The food was average to good, entertainment was plain shocking! If you like Butlins but at sea then RCI are beginning to become exactly that. We thought Carnival were bad however this is now our worst Cruise. Avoid ! Read Less

Well where to start! This ship cruise was my very first ship cruise ever! Enjoyed the statement room my grandmother and I had, was a nice size just for the two of us. Dexter our stateroom attendant was very very nice, did an awesome job keeping us happy. The entertainment on ship from live shows to yoga, movies in a nice huge theater to live musical bands were non stop. The cruise consisted of a 14 day and many stops from France, Italy, Greece and Malta! Which we took advantage of the many excursions there were to offer and see! The dining especially formal dining our waiter Davor was so awesome we kept coming back just to see his lovely smile! He was very attentive to us since we only sat at a two setting table. I got to try escargot for the first time and had any of the recommendations of the menu Davor had to offer. The manager sorry I can’t remember his name but is from India he was so awesome too, he always took the time to come by to just chat with us as well! Kuddos to both! So overall regardless of knowing this was a smaller ship have already recommended this same cruise with your company! I’m definitely am highly satisfied with the cruise I as well met many different people around the world! I am definitely coming back! Read Less

We loved the cruise on the Rhapsody. This is the smallest ship from RC we cruised on. Overall was a great cruise but the gym was way too small and you can see that the ship need some refurbishment. The staff was great and I must say that the food was the best we had on any RC ship. Bar size was the best we had...enough seating except the one near the central area when something was on. The cabin was good and clean. We had not a single issue. We found the entertainment on this ship a bit lacking with too much music entertainment and too little “show”. This was compensated by good movies shown on the big screen near the pool. The pool was closed three times and mostly during the time we were in port and with 35+ degrees was not so good. Excuse was “vomit” incident every time...not sure I believe it. At the same time the pool in the solarium was open and while on port was pretty quiet. Read Less

Just a quick breakdown on our 12 night Mediterranean Greek Isles cruise: 1) The Ship was very enjoyable, high marks to the condition on the ship. Smaller ship in the fleet, for this voyage, just the right size. 2) Stayed in cabin 8029 (Interior State Room). Just perfect, quiet, great location, just the right size. The cabin was excellent 3) Had a great meal each and every day. Most enjoyable meals were at Izumi's, but overall food was great. The meals were just short of excellent. 4) Entertainment and Activities were just as expected. Sign up for the Triller show, great time. 5) We received 10 star service. I would take this cruise just to be able to be with the crew. 6) Over did it on the shore excursions, slow it down and take it a day at a time. 7) Did not travel with children. Would not recommend them on this ship. 8) I would do the cruise again, just so I could be the ship with the crew. 9) Embarkation was easy, very organized. 10) Enrichment activities were just so so. 11) Entertainment was very good. 12) Fitness was excellent. Wonderful itinerary. This was our 4th cruise on the Silhouette and the experiences are consistently excellent. Entertainment and food was excellent. The food in the main dining room was so good that we decided to bypass the specialty restaurants. However, portions are very small. The lobster tail dinner consisted of one lobster tail. However, more were available if requested. Any time dining was great . No waiting. Our waiter Francisco and assistant Putu were outstanding. Our room attendant Neideson was one of the best we’ve ever had. Production shows were good. Outside entertainers were excellent, as as our cruise director Sue. The ship is getting a little tired looking and should probably be refurbished in the next few years. All in all, this cruise was wonderful. The embarkation was very quick. We were on the ship within 5 minutes of our arrival. Debarkation was also very quick and organized. We will definitely be back. Read Less

Priority embarkation, a perk of being in a suite, was a breeze and we were onboard in no time at all. We were each offered a glass of fizz or orange juice. We had a light lunch in Windows then found our Club Continent Suite, 8050, which happened to be next door to a fellow CC poster's friends, so we met almost immediately, on the balcony As we’d cruised on Journey before, we didn’t need much orientation, so we checked out the gym class timetable, which was a disappointment as there were no abs classes and only two stretch sessions. I was expecting daily classes, but only seemed to be one instructor so maybe short staffed. We unpacked our own clothes rather than let the butler assist. He soon introduced himself and explained our perks. We swopped the included vodka for a further bottle of Bombay. As it happened I only consumed the rum, so took the others home for family. Next was the dreaded drill, which is a necessary chore, but those who attend punctually have to wait ages for latecomers. One suite perk is free dining at speciality restaurants so we at twice at each venue and enjoyed great food and service. One night was Azamazing buffet, another White Night and on one occasion we at in the main dining room. The White night took placed while anchored at Patmos, which was slightly disappointing, as it was a bit windy, so sweaters and rugs were required. The food was excellent, but went cold quite quickly. On a warm evening, it would have been much more fun. The included wine offerings were generally disappointing, but when we found an excellent Zinfandel we asked for it on subsequent nights. We at breakfast outside on everyday and mostly ate quite healthily. Food was generally excellent as was the service as you’d expect. We didn’t take any ship tours or use any spa services as we feel they are way overpriced. Eric was a great entertainer and CD, but we were less than enthused by some of the entertainers. We tended to retire early and rise early, to walk around deck and use gym, which provide great facilities. We also liked the perk of using the Thelassotherapy pool, which was very relaxing. We didn’t use the tediously slow Wi-fi much, as most of time we had a 3G signal, allowing us to use our UK data allowance in our included contract. Disembarkation was a breeze. Read Less

This was our first time on Celebrity and we were very impressed. We have traveled on smaller, more exclusive lines and the ship and the experience on Celebrity were clearly better. The ship was large but that just meant more room to move around. It was always possible to get away from the crowds. The departures and arrivals related to the shore excursions were well planned and executed. These actually worked better than on the smaller ship and the waits were never long. In fact, the excursions virtually always left within minutes of the assigned times. The majority of the staff could not have been friendlier or more committed to service. Our butler (Rene) and our room attendant (Raj) greeted us with smiles each time we saw them and were always readily available to help. They made us feel very special. The ship was immaculate both inside our stateroom and throughout the ship. We were careful in purchasing our packages (including drinks, gratuities, and internet services) so there were no add-on expenses. We had a suite so our dining choices included Luminae. The food was very good so there was no need to pay extra for specialty restaurants. The staff at Michaels, a club available to suite guests, were also very attentive and responsive. Our entertainment was impacted by the Florida hurricane (fewer floor shows), however the entertainment was still top notch. The only minor issue was related to one of the excursions purchased from Celebrity. It was an excursion to Messina, Sicily. We were very disappointed in the excursion ... it basically wasted our day. An even bigger disappointment was that when we complained, all we got was an argument from the shore excursion staff ... no offers to make it right. We did not use Celebrity for our Santorini excursion and the excursion could be done on our own very easily. The Canyon Ranch spa service was very good and the fitness center was well maintained and equipped. Read Less

It could have been better as we hv traveled other cruise liners & this one lacks a bit of everything, not taking away the service of staff & their dedicated service... overall experience was satisfactory, but it could hv been better if the dining experience in the windjammer was better, with limited seating it was difficult to get place when needed... unlike other cruise liners, the main buffet area were never closed, at least one part was open for snacks... the one small restaurant in the solarium was always overcrowded with really limited choices.... the fitness room was small, at times it was overfull... the deck chairs were permanently occupied, whereas 30 mins block allowance was not being experienced... the entertwinement was just ok, nothing to boost about as well as the duty free shops, just about ok. I must say the service extended in speciality restaurants was superb with staff knowledgeable of the cuisine & its selection... the bar & cafe staff were always helpful & quick to place orders.... the photo shop was always busy, but not impressed with the photo shoots, as the poses were more or less similar every time.... their should be many more variations so that it does not show repeats... it's expensive for each photo or a package, so one should be aware of some different options to take photos with better backgrounds... This was our first cruise so I must start out by saying that I have no point of comparison. We had been hesitant to go on a cruise but were advised to stick to small luxury ships and the Azamara Quest is in this category. We just loved this cruise. Everything worked like clockwork and the staff were fabulous. Our cabin was small but this is the standard size for this ship and it worked. The bed was really comfortable and there was plenty of storage room, wardrobe space and cupboards and drawers in the room to stow all our gear with room to spare. We dined at both Prime C and Acquilina twice. They were great with superb food. We also enjoyed the BBQ events on the ship - the staff did a fantastic job. We also enjoyed the White Night evening. To give you an example of the attention to detail on this ship, as we sailed into Venice at 11am and a lot of us were out on deck to watch the spectacle, the staff were ready with bellinis and mini pizzas. This crew and ship have thought of everything. This is just one small example of the level of service and planning that goes into making the cruise such an enjoyable experience. We stuck with the standard alcohol offerings that were included with our fare and they were adequate for our needs. Each day there were 2 red wine, 2 white wines, 1 sparkling wine and one 1 rose wine on offer together with standard beers and spirits. The average age on the ship was quoted at 55 to 57 (and we fit right into that category), however, I would have put it at slightly older for our cruise. There were a few children on board, but not many. This is more a couples cruise. There was a good mix of Americans, Brits, Australians and Canadians onboard - being the main audience for this cruise. All in all, a wonderful experience. Read Less

Background information My wife and I are a young-ish couple without kids. This was our first cruise in the Mediterranean, but I have been on 25 cruises and my wife about ten. We spent a week in Rome, Florence, and Venice just prior to the cruise, as we had a long trip in from New Mexico and wanted to get the most out of our travels. I'd highly recommend spending some time in Italy before or after your cruise. Shout out to tripmasters.com who helped to make our pre-cruise portion easy and affordable. Hotel information Our hotel in Venice was called the Hotel Canaletto, and I'd recommend it for your pre or post cruise stay. Breakfast was included, it was clean, safe, and less than a ten minute walk to the Rialto Bridge or St. Mark's Square. Ship information I have not been on a Vision class ship in about a decade, but this ship is great! I had read some reviews saying the ship is "tired", but I wholeheartedly disagree. I did not see any issues with the condition of the ship. Activities This is not an Oasis class ship in terms of activities available, but there is still plenty on board to keep you occupied during a port intensive voyage. There were multiple trivia sessions each day, a rock climbing wall, a nice gym, and a jogging track, among other things to keep you busy. I will say that trying to run on the track anytime between 10am and 6pm is going to be frustrating if not impossible because there are so many chairs and people on the track. I ran after 6pm, and I was pleased that one mile is equivalent to only four laps, which is hard to believe on a small ship (I've been on ships where it takes ten laps). Service The service was phenomenal! Big shout out to our cabin steward Inam. He was so nice and did an exception job. He even worked longer than his normal hours to clean our cabin (even though we told him not to worry about it). He is genuinely a great person! We also really enjoyed our time in the main dining room. Maria, the headwaiter, did a perfect job of making sure my wife's special order was correct every night. She was also a lot of fun to talk to and very helpful. I saw her in the Windjammer one day, and she was asking if I needed a table and was bussing tables. She did whatever was necessary to make people happy. We also liked our assistant waiter we had on most nights, Kevin. We both think he was very capable of being a lead waiter - he took my order of 4-6 appetizers/entrées without even jotting them down. Port & shore excursions The only ship excursion we did was the Monastery/Melissani Cave tour in Argostoli. The only complaint I have is that we did the Monastery first, followed by a stop in a fishing village (which was nice for shopping), and then the cave last. The problem with this plan is that once the sun goes past the cave opening, the visual experience is not as good. So although the cave was beautiful, I feel like we missed the opportunity to see it at its best. The guide explained that we left the port late due to a problem with RCL (we waited about 20 minutes in the bus), and as a result, we did not go to the cave first because he didn't want us to wait behind all the other tours that left earlier. Cabin Our cabin (3614) was perfect for our needs. It was in close proximity to the aft stairs, which worked well for getting to the dining room and only a brief walk to get on or off the ship. The cabin was clean and quiet. Our cabin steward, Iman, did an excellent job. Dining The quality of food on the ship was great. We really enjoyed both the Windjammer and MDR. I will say that the MDR did not offer a breakfast menu. The only option was the buffet they set up in the center of the MDR (which was good). Still, I know some people will be disappointed that they cannot order off the menu. I'm not sure if this change is fleet wide or just on this ship/itinerary. I did miss the options that are offered on Oasis class ships (a real Park Café, Boardwalk Dog House, Promenade Café, etc.). Entertainment We missed all of the production shows due to port times and eating late, but all of the guest performers were excellent. RCL always does an excellent job of having great outside acts. We had two magicians, a jazz/pop quartet, and a shadow puppet performer (cooler than it sounds). Disembarkation Disembarkation was easier than we've experienced in the US. I'm sure this was partially due to the smaller ship than we are used to, but also because there was not a formal customs check. Summary All in all, we had a great first cruise in Greece and we would highly recommend this ship and RCL! Read Less

Ship: The Jewel of the Seas Ship, met all of my needs. I found the ship to be very clean everywhere I went. I found the staff to be very friendly, professional, attentive and willing to meet your needs. I also, found the selection of food to very comprehensive in both the restaurants and buffet. The food was always plentiful, fresh and well presented. The dining room staff was very engaging and attentive. They also, remembered their passengers request and needs, and met them, without prompting. Safety: I found the ships security procedures to be very comprehensive and professional. I am speaking to this particular subject, because, I travelled alone. And I appreciated the attentiveness to security as well, and the procedure for tracking people from the airport, who got on and off the ship, and even tracking my return to the airport. Port & Excursions: The great things about taking a cruise, is that it can meet the various needs of different passengers on board. Saying that, from my experience: I had an amazing, insightful, reflective, calming, peaceful, appreciative, educational and beautiful experience throughout the cruise. But someone else, could have a wild and crazy time, if that is what they are looking for. I found the various port of calls to be well chosen, because they are all, very beautiful and distinctively different in every aspect. Santorini, was purely a beautiful port. Santorini's views were gorgeous and breath taking. I opted to take the Island of Santorini and Village of Oia tour. Which allowed me the opportunity see both the Village of Oia and the Old Port of Fira amd to stop at a winery, that provide free wine tasting and tapas. In Mykonos, I elected to just tour the town, which is very charming and it runs along the water. The view is amazing and there are a lot of shops and restaurants there, and you can pick up all the trinkets your heart desires. In Athens, I went on the Athens highlights, Acropolis and Attica Zoo for Families tour, which provided a comprehensive guide to the ruins of the Acropolis and ruins of Athens. Which gave me an educational experience regarding ancient Greek history. But, additionally, providing a visual piece as well. I also, had the opportunity to spend Attica Zoo two -three hours at their zoo, which provided a great and fun dolphin show. I have to admit that while I enjoyed the highlights and the tour, the zoo, left me wanting more, though they had a large bird collection. But, to be fair, the time I went was very hot, so the animals were laying down or hiding. Katakolon is a beautiful Island of about 600 people, by that time we arrived at Katakolon, I was over ruins, so, I walked around the town (which you can do in one-hour) They have a lot of restaurants and also various little shops. I, would definitely travel with Royal Caribbean again, and I recommend the Greek Isle Tour to everyone, who is interested in beauty and/or Greek History. Enjoy! My life is forever changed. Read Less

I am not a snob or any thing like that but when I make an effort to dress up for a nice evening meal and others cant be bothered it just spoils it for those who do. Royal Carribean should inforce the dresscode as the dinners who do not want to make an effort can get the same food in the casual eating area (winjammer). Royal Caribean like to try and sell you a drinks package which is great if you want to drink yourself silly every day but those who want to drink more moderatley it is a waste of money. Rooms where clean and tidy, the pool was very crowded. The staff did not smile much and looked over worked. Read Less

We have cruised on other lines. This was the first cruise in Holland America and will also be the last. By comparison to Princess, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean this ship was a disappointment. The stateroom steward was excellent but the other service on board was not nearly as good as what we have experienced before. The Guest service desk seemed very inexperienced and did not live up to commitments made. The booking agent also did not provide us with the same deal they gave our travel companions. The tour groups were very large and tour guides could not be heard. Not all wore microphones which were definitely needed with 50+ people in one group! The disembarkment process was clearly a message that Hollland America was no longer engaged with theur customer. They had us to the airport 2 hours before the line was even open for check in. We were dropped off and had to walk about 15 minutes (with our luggage and no porters) to get to the terminal. We were told a Holland America rep would be inside to assist. There was no one there to help us. Very disappointing. Read Less

We select Royal Caribbea because believe taht they have the best service, ships, routes and their workers are the best. I think if possible to offer more shore excursions at ports, in order to squeeze every site, they are super interesting. May be, more time to spend in ports. Despite we having allocated dinner schedule, I always found a lot of queues and crowds of people at the Edelweiss restaurant, so I dined either at the winjamer or at a pay restaurant ( Giovanni's table and Chops Grill), however it was a good gastronomic experience in a quiet, noisy, but intimate. Overall our expectations were met. The entretaiment activities were fun , the parties were fun and excited. The shows in the theater were varied and the subjects very interesting, very professional and high quality artists. To finish my review I want to thank all the staff who work day by day to make the holiday unforgettable, cabin attendants, at cafeterias restaurants, all, are wonderful, always with a smile and ready to collaborate and help. We chose this cruise because of the diverse stops (Italy, Greece and Turkey) however I was not told of the itenerary change that there would be no Turkey stop, had to find out when I was sharing the itenerary with a family member, I had booked excursions already and had problems with the vendor refunding. Not happy about missing Turkey, but I understand. We had a little wait on Embarkation but smooth, disembarkation was very smooth with the exception of not being told that the waiting area for drivers was at the end of the terminal and we were at the exit across from the drivers and no one told us otherwise for over an hour. The ship, was wonderful. Small but never felt crowded, easy to get around elegant. The cabin was wonderful 1146. It is on deck 11 and close to everything, nice balcony room. I was told that we could adjoin our room on the deck with our inlaws in 1148 but was not allowed to after repeated request. They said it was for safety, but the door hooked well and we knew the people. I guess they thouht it was safer to lean over the railing to talk to our family. I was not happy about this!! Entertainment and activities were varied, fun and constant! Really always something to do. I wish they had Zumba more, only 2 days, which were days at sea and the area on deck was small and too crowded to enjoy. If they added more days in the evening @5 there would have been better. The food, was suprisingly good. I was not expecting the diversity and quality. It is amazing that they can offer so many people the selection with the execution they have. Bravo!! Our dining room waiters (Stefan and Taufik) were charming and I loved having them, we missed them the night we went to Chops. Our cabin steward was ok, nothing special. I have had some wonderful stewards in the past, so I guess I was due for an average one. He was kind and sweet, but average. Loved that there were not hords of children on this cruise ( the ones to the caribbean are filled with kids) but the ones on our cruise were well behaved and acted as you would hope. Good job Parents!! We did many excursions on our own. One with Royal. I wish we had more time in Port, some stops were way too short to enjoy anything but the "tourist areas" and you did not get a real flavor of the destination. Plus, all the junk shops started to look the same!! The weather was not always great, Mykonos was rained out which was disapointing since we had a Kayak tour scheduled that had to cancel. Our Tourmina trip on Messina was cancelled due to the G7 summit, that was bad....we had nothing to do but hop on and off bus around Messina. Not a nice town. Also, it never allowed to hop on or off....just drive around. We were confused!! We wanted to take one bus down to the beaches and have a lunch away from town, but had to buy both lines and no getting off. We rented a car in Santorini, great experience driving around the island. We wanted to rent 4 wheelers, but decided not to when I read so many reviews of accidents, It was really much safer and roads much better that reviewed. I would do the 4 wheeler next time. Athens was upsetting, We had a walking tour planned and the cab driver kept wanting to give us a tour, we told him specifically we had a time and place to meet and he drove us around and finally left us in the wrong destination too late to meet the tour. (Athens Free Walking tour). We went to the Parthenon and the Museum and toured on our own around there, we found some really nice sights and adventures. Made lemonade out of lemons, I guess! The economy in Greece is bad and you really felt like a big Euro that everyone wanted to grab....not as charming as I had hoped. The highlight was Naples, DO NOT MISS THE AMALFI COAST! It was stunning. We did the Royal Excursion, Amalfi and Pompii by land and sea. It was excellent and was the cherry on top of the trip! The Guest serivices guy (Gupta) was not helpful at all and made matters worse. We had a gift of $100 and free specialty dinner for 2 included in our ticket. We recieved a "Chit" that showed the $100 but not the dinner. I went to talk to Mr Gupta to check on the comped dinner and showed him my booking documents and he said it was all set. Went to the Dinner at Chops where they inform me that it is not in the "System"! Good job, Mr. Gupta!! I went back to him with all the documents I had and he said...Sorry I dont remember you!....Really?? Had to call my TA to clear it up. This was not necessary, but was quite frustrating!! Read Less

I was looking for something different for my much traveled daughter for her 30th for us all to enjoy. It was a recommendation that friends had suggested, taking in Venice,Dubrovnik, Kotor Santorini, and Katakolun. From the minute we checked into Birmingham airport we were welcomed by reps explaining where to go and explaining what to do at Venice. As it was our first cruise I was quite daunted at the adventure, but I never had a problem all the way through to embarkation we were escorted and supported. The ship was a smaller ship of the fleet, that was from choice. I only wish I had chosen a balcony, but the staterooms were spotless and had loads of space. We did our own thing on the trips at ports and shore as we had 2 adventurous 30 year olds with us. The food in the Edelweiss restaurant was amazing and we were looked after by Jay on table 70 and assistant BEBE, who could not have been more attentive !! Throughout the trip everything was fantastic. I wish we could bottle what Patricio and Grace have in energy and fun ( amazing fun every day and night on board). We would definately go cruising again with Royal Caribbean. Our special thanks go to Uday Shetty, the knowledge from this guy from housekeeping is fantastic. Read Less

I wanted to go on a cruise to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We chose this cruise because it was stopping in Croatia. Robert had served three tours in the former Yugoslavia with the Canadian Armed Forces and wanted to take me there. We chose Royal Caribbean because of all the things to do onboard and the destinations. It was a great experience, the staff were friendly and helpful. We felt like we were part of a family. The food was superb. We had so many options for eating on the ship. We even got to meet Travis Kamiyama, the founder of Izumi's, and even enjoyed a saki and sushi pairing with him. While on ship, I was treated to a spa sampler and loved it. We also went to a wines of the world wine tasting experience. We've already booked our next cruise and like the small cruise ships. We are planning to convince other family members to join us. Read Less

I have sailed many many times on Princess and would recommend them HIGHLY ...until now! WOW! I will say, the ship is brand new, in great shape and my bed was upgraded from the usual hard mattress-- but that is where the nice comments end. The ship layout, staff and attitude is catering ONLY to an Asian guest-- and I am not even sure they were thrilled. Good for you if you are Asian and choose this ship, but if not, prepare to be underwhelmed if you loved Princess cruising. You would think that with a new ship they would have their A team as the staff -- um, NO...everyone from the Cruise staff to the room stewards were less than enthusiastic and made no effort to make you feel like a welcomed guest. The bars and restaurants all close early and the usually wonderful bar staff is no where to be found in common areas. My love of that staff ( and the tips to prove it) are usually a HUGE part of my bill, NOT the case this time. If you could find someone, again, there was little interest in service. If you like the cheesy, but fun Skywalkers lounge -- well, you will instead be treated to a DJ under lots of light in the VERY chlorinated smelly indoor pool area - such a lousy replacement. There is lots of space used for private Kareoke rooms, that cost $12 extra per hour /per person and were not used at all on this cruise. They do offer you one free drink, which is nice a useless if you have the drink package. It also had no staff around ( because of the lack of guests I am sure) so it was hard to even find out those details. The food was another MAJOR let down on this trip. We host dinners in the Crown Grill and it was horrible. Normally the steaks, presentation and service are beyond worth the extra money - um, NOT THIS TIME. It was laughable how bad it all was and so embarrassing for those of us who raved about it to first time cruisers. again -- I used to love this and now, just still so frustrated by the lack of effort by anyone on this ship. I also had a dinner at the new Harmony / Cantonese restaurant and that couldn't have been more bland and again -- so not worth the extra money. the food at the cafes were okay, but took a lot longer than usual and again -- the staff just seemed ho hum. The meals in the dining rooms were also -just okay, not really worth getting dressed for if you were expecting nice people or service. If you like to exercise, the gym is nice, but if you want to walk, good luck, there is not a level where you can walk around the ship. it is all reconfigured and the "walking path" is about 25 feet long....so you can get lots of laps in if you are super lazy. We had several first time cruisers with us and it just wasn't a great experience. As I said before, I always looked forward to my Princess Cruises, but I will be looking at other lines. Which is sad. This was our second time cruising and we were celebrating my 60th birthday and our silver wedding anniversary. We flew from Manchester to Malaga and once boarded, we decided to stay and explore the ship and rest up. The ship was very clean, our cabins were cleaned twice daily by very friendly cabin staff who made us feel like it was home from home. The food was plentiful and delicious (I'm sure I gained weight) and we made lots of friends. As part of our celebrations, we were invited to dine at the captains table with other guests, a most enjoyable occasion. We paid extra for a photo shoot, a celebration package, which included flowers, Champaign, basket of fruit and of course a cake. A truly memorable occasion I highly recommend the spa treatment, it was fantastic. Everyone on board made you feel special, however, having requested an outside cabin with a queen size bed, we in fact got two single beds at opposite side of the cabin. We are now taking this up with the travel agency who made the booking. in spite of this, we enjoyed our cruise. Read Less

This was our second cruise on the Spirit and it's showing its age. The staff works hard to make it look fresh but the decor needs updating and some maintenance is required to meet the standard of other ships in the NCL fleet. Interesting ports was our primary reason for selecting this cruise. We ate at speciality restaurants six nights and found them all to be very good. They are definitely a step above the two main complementary evening restaurants. We wish NCL would bring back the Chef's Table dining option. We enjoyed attending two wine events but the intimacy of the Chef's Table was a special treat. We enjoyed all the shows except for a comedian that was the last nights entertainment. Wish they would have had the four show singers do more caberet shows. The four groups and soloists that performed in the various bars were also very good. Only negative was the ship trivia. So many people want to participate that they need to use a bigger venue and always use an overhead projector as some of the cruise staff leading the trivia are hard to understand as English is their second language.
