Poor service, poor ship

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Trollfjord

When reading the Hurtigruten publicity for the refitted Trollfjord you would expect to find an exquisite small cruise ship, what you get is an overcrowded cheaply converted coastal ferry. The standard cabins are small with low cost fittings. Our bathroom cabinet didn’t close and the shower fitting fell to bits. The bed was uncomfortable. Dinning was not the highlight one would hope for. ...

Such a shame

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette

We chose this cruise because I’d always wanted to go to Iceland, also another chance for celebrity to redeem itself after a very disappointing cruise round the Caribbean in February. We have been loyal cruisers with Celebrity for years attaining Elite Plus status, sadly it’s time to say goodbye. It started with our balcony cabin, items from the previous occupants were left in the wardrobe. No ...

Very poor quality food, understaffed and no hygiene. Understaffed.

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Carnival Pride

Unfortunately food has to be great, with most days, 3 meals a day on board they have to get it right. Carnival Pride, Iceland Trip, August 20, 2023, have failed miserably. This is our 9th Carnival cruise, another booked for December and our 18th cruise overall. We have not encountered worse food, and guests everywhere complaining. Doesn’t seem to matter what food it is, complaints ...

So disappointing!

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Celebrity Summit

We chose this cruise for the itinerary for Iceland & direction and timing (Our 25th). Our first and very likely LAST on Celebrity (previous on Princess/HAL). I was so disappointed in stateroom (UD Concierge), food & service. The food as many of the Elites we met in the MDR also agreed was just very, very repetitive, often slow & frequently not good. Had two hour-long waits there for our mains. We ...

Ship is understaffed and food was subpar

We chose this cruise for two reasons. The first was the itinerary which included Iceland and Greenland. The itinerary was great and I would highly recommend it. The second reason was because one person in our party has a gluten allergy and Celebrity has been great accommodating it in the past. Not so one this cruise. There were very few options available. In fact they offered the same two GF ...

Disappointing Iceland & Norway on NCL Star

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Norwegian Star

We recently had a very disappointing cruise on the NCL Star in July 2023. We have been on many NCL cruises dating back to 1996 on the Seaward and we have come to like a great many things about NCL cruises. One of the best was on the Jewel in 2019 to Australia and SE Asia. NCL has been one of our favorite cruise lines. Our disappointment with our cruise to Iceland and Norway in July 2023 began ...

Itinerary Too Weather-Dependent

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Norwegian Star

This felt like a Groundhog Day cruise that never was. The intended cruise itinerary was 3 Iceland and 3 Greenland ports, with 1 tender in total. We phoned Norwegian in advance and they insisted that there was only 1 tender, even though our quick research online indicated that there were definitely 4 tender ports with this itinerary. This matters to people who are disabled, elderly, or simply ...

Mixed Emotions

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Island Princess

t I travel with my partner Janet. We chose this cruise for the itinerary. 33 days with ports in Iceland and Norway. The Island Princess seemed to be the perfect way to visit the northern ports and June the perfect season to do so. This is not the review I had hoped to write when we made the reservations. The disappointment was not with the itinerary, but the ship. No, not even the ship, but ...

Great ports, but tired ship and lack of service!

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Norwegian Dawn

We usually sail with HAL, but the interesting NCL itinerary prompted us to pick Norwegian for the first time. It is safe to say that we will hurry back to HAL. Unlike HAL, where we were always made to feel like honored guests (even in the cheapest inside cabin), you were treated like an anonymous number on the Norwegian Dawn. At times, the service was not only indifferent but downright rude. Upon ...

First and Last Cruise on Princess

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Island Princess

This review is for the 33 day cruise, not just the part the CC system would recognize. I chose this cruise because it went to a much desired destination: Longyearbyen (Svalbard), an island north of the Arctic Circle belonging to Norway. I booked in February when I saw I could book a 33 day cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale to Southhampton to Norway and back to Southhampton. Not long after final ...
