Bad Experience on an Antarctica Cruise

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Norwegian Star

First Time Cruiser • Age 60s

My wife and I, both in our 60’s, booked this 14 day cruise from Buenos Aires to Antarctica and were very disappointed. We have over 30 cruises with 10 on Norwegian and the rest mostly on Royal Caribbean, Princess, or Holland America. I usually rate cruises as 5 star as you get what you book and a cruise is usually a good time. However this cruise on the Norwegian Star was overall terrible for ...

Silverseas is the devil. Poor poor antarctica. silverseas is absolutely trashing it. Poor terrified penguins. I am absolutely traumatized by what I witnessed on the "expedition " Silverseas provided embarking information a few days before the trip. 2pm would be the first embankment continuing till 5 pm. All incorrect information. Flight from santiago- porto williams. First ...

This is a very long, detailed log-style review and covers 32 days, including 7 days pre-cruise in Argentina and 2 days post-cruise in Chile. If you just want to summary of the cruise scroll all the way down. Oosterdam South America and Antarctica 12-20-22 I just spend a lot of time putting in my entire 26000 word log and the website would not save it, so here is the cruise summary ...

Take an REAL expedition tour - NOT HAL to Antarctica

Our cruise of a lifetime to antarctica was a total waste of time and money. Hal couldn't have screwed up more if it really tried. i'll share just the highlights! our embarkation was a seven hour (two on a bus and five in the terminal) fiasco with ~ 5,000 people crammed into one room with five ships in port and then hal required all passengers to take a covid test on the third day! also, no ...

The most expensive ferry ride in the world

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Celebrity Infinity

This was supposed to be a trip of a life time, booked over 2 years ago. But its prove to be anything but. We were notified 5 days before departure that "due to a technical issue with the ship's propulsion system, as a precaution, we will have to reduce our maximum speed by a few knots". This meant they cancelled the stop to Puerto Madryn (penguins). We received the princely sum of £131 ...

Tired ship, and nickel and dime approach to passengers

In my experience, Celebrity is not the Premium cruise line that their advertising claims– not by a long shot. Recently took the Antarctic cruise on the Celebrity Infinity. We were notified 1 week before departure that there was a problem with the propulsion system that would restrict the ship speed to 2/3 of the normal cruising speed. As a result, one of the 4 port destinations was deleted from ...

Shame on Celebrity Cruises

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Celebrity Infinity

We were sent to Antarctica on the INFINITY – A ship unfit for the seas. Two years of planning, over $24,000.00 (not including airfare, hotels, and other costs), and a year’s worth of PTO from work have led us to two weeks of disappointment. On January 13, 2018, about one week prior to our departure, we were notified about a propulsion issue with the ship and that they were canceling our port ...

First cruise with Celebrity and the last. We have been cruising for the last 35 years and never struck issues like these - even in older ships and much heavier weather. 6 days before we were due to board, the itinerary was changed due to 'technical issues with the propulsion system". The issue had also been present on the previous cruise so why weren't we told earlier ? As a result, the ...

Do NOT go to Antarctica on this cruise ship. You will be very disappointed!

First I just want to say that this was, I think, our 26th cruise. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had on a “bucket list” trip. About a week prior to sail date receive message from Celebrity that Puerto Madryn cancelled due to propulsion on the ship. Received close to 1/14th of cruise cost on our credit card to give us one day credit. That was 1 of 4 ports that we now will miss. By the ...
