About Cruising to Gladstone

As the gateway town to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland's Gladstone is a favourite with visitors who love the aquatic life. It's easy to visit the natural wonder of the reef from Gladstone, with fewer crowds and direct access from the shore enhancing the unforgettable experience. Most visitors rate this stop as the highlight of their cruise, whether they swim, snorkel or scuba dive.

Daytrips from Gladstone to Heron Island and Lady Musgrave Island give a tantalising taste of what makes Queensland's tropical islands so special, with castaway fantasies served up with plenty of local gourmet food and wine.

If you're staying close to the port, a range of dining and entertainment options is on offer around the foreshore precinct. Markets, which are set up whenever a ship visits, are much better than average, so shoppers should not miss this opportunity to pick up good quality souvenirs or enjoy the live music.

Gladstone has friendly Cruise Welcome Ambassadors to greet passengers and provide a handy guide full of maps and local information.

Visited on a Sunday, just about everything closed. Markets were ok, few pubs open, one supermarket open to buy some extras not available on the ship.Read More
