Aurora has class

Review for Aurora to Spain

First time back on Aurora since the refit. Although we like the modern, larger ships, Aurora seems to draw us in. We had a fantastic time. We were allocated early dining on a table for eight. The first night we were alone so bagged the best seats near the window. The following night, 4 others joined us and we couldn't have wished for better table companions. We had some great laughs and ...

First real cruise and we chose a transatlantic!

Review for Norwegian Epic to Spain

I was celebrating a big birthday in April and our wedding anniversary in May so we decided to do something different - we usually do golfing vacations or visit family back in the U.K. So, we chose a 15 day cruise from Port Canaveral finishing in Barcelona. I did extensive research and also found the Roll Call on Cruise Critic invaluable as other passengers had great information to share. There ...

Top notch

Review for Sapphire Princess to Spain

The food and entertainment were excellent. The shows (including (Gareth Gates) were west end standards and the ships band were the best. A good choice of food was always available as was the ice cream, unlike P & O! We've been on most of the cruise lines before, including a previous Princess, but this has to be one of the best ships. The cabin steward, bar staff, restaurant staff, were so ...

Review for Marella Discovery to Spain

Only write a review when something has been really excellent or really poor. We've done 9 previous cruises all with Thomson in the last 5 years - the Spirit, Majesty, Island Escape, and our very favourite the Dream (4 times) and always had a great time. We don't ask for much - it doesn't spoil our holiday if I miss out on towel animals or chocolates on the pillow. All we want is a seat to eat ...

VERY GOOD IN PATCHES

Review for Marella Discovery to Spain

This cruise was the 4th Thompson cruise that my husband and I have been on so were looking forward to seeing this ship and what she had to offer. On first views we were pleased with a much more straight forward embarkation with little stress and found our cabin quite easily. Cases were a couple of hours before getting to the cabins but no major problems. We had booked a cabin on deck 7 with a ...

Mostly good to very good - despite Onslows

Review for Ventura to Spain

Overall this was a pleasure with, if I want to be picky, a few grouches. Ship can get a bit overcrowded and shovey if you turn up at peak times for meals in buffet restaurants. Also, to be sniffy, some passengers would seem close chums of portly Onslow and family in that Mrs Bucket comedy series. Or the Royle family on their hols. Brits abroad who let us down. Swilling ...

Bad food. Poor quality mass production not quality . Ship well worn and needs major overhaul Chandelier fell on us in Viking lounge first night when leaving Rome Glass all over us. .And the Windows bonded in by Stevie wonder with silicone gun and timber dowels to stop it grinding against metal frame .as they falling out and badly fitted . Tiles missing around tiny pool area. ...

Had a very good offer on an inside cabin so booked..we are actually going on the transatlantic repositioning cruise next month as well. Room was a reasonable size with good storage space, lots of room for all our clothes. The bathroom was a reasonable size. The main dining room was excellent, we had chosen 1st sitting, and our waiters were really good. The standard of meals in the Windjammer ...

Standards lowered, prices raised.

Review for Independence of the Seas to Spain

Chose this cruise because we have been on this ship twice before. Western Med ( Spain and Portugal). 19th Sept - 2nd Oct 2016. Standards have slipped and prices have risen. A glass of wine was 10 -12 dollars each. A bottle of water was $5. 18% tax added onto all drinks. The cost of tours from the ship were outrageously expensive. They now charge £5 to £10 for shuttle busses from ship ...

Family suite was the pull on this occasion , coupled with the itinerary. I have cruised with Thomson on umpteen occasions over the last decade on all its ships (8 times on Island Escape) + & never had cause to complain - this time one or two grumbles. The smoking restriction has congregated far too many smokers in one area with insufficient seating - Thomson is a budget line & as such ...
