It started to go wrong on the second evening at dinner. Three people on my table had the lamb which came with shards of bone in each mouthful. The Maitre D was not bothered. The cruise became steadily worse. We were never offered coffee after dinner. In Lisbon the whole of my coach asked for the tour to be ended early by taking us back to the ship. After ready lots of reviews in the weeks prior to going I was not expecting much at all. Obviously passengers opinions vary but some of the complaints had me worried. We boarded in Barcelona for a Transatlantic cruise to New York before continuing to Montreal. First thing to say is we have been taking cruises for over 25 years and have sailed on Holland America, Oceania, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. Chose this cruise as it sailed from Southampton and went to stops we had not tried before.

I have sailed Anthem many times. Beautiful ship with outstanding staff. Shows were good.
Drinks are expensive $13 plus 20% for 150 ml. Dining experience good but sometimes very busy. Good choice of venues to eat at. Embarking and disembarking smooth.

No fly from southampton appealed to me. Embarkment and coach transvers very good.
Front line staff (waiters restaurants / buffets) all bar staff. Very professional with overall good service.
Inside cabin very clean with good attendant.
Food in complementary restaurants poor. Food in the buffet very good with quality meats etc.
