It was not for the faint-hearted, but still within the realm of a leisurely cruise. It was not an expedition, despite Crystal trying to make it one, but it is not possible to truly combine luxury with back packing. All and all though Crystal succeeded in providing a platform for some wild shore excursions from a luxury platform. The cost was steep, but once on our way we could see why. Zodiacs ...

In 2006, I sailed on this very same vessel to Antarctica. When I heard the ship had been refurbished in 2016 and was now sailing in the Arctic, I was anxious to experience "having sailed to the ends of the Earth" on the same ship. My expectations were exceeded on this cruise! Although the weather was a little bit less than cooperative, the sights of the Norwegian Coast were stunning, and the crew ...

I am an adventurous active solo traveler who likes unusual itineraries and more remote parts of the world. I’ve cruised on at least 12 cruise lines, and the Northwest Passage Expedition Cruise on the “Crystal Serenity” was a unique and remarkable experience for my 49th cruise. The inaugural Northwest Passage Expedition Cruise sailed a distance of approximately 8,370 sea miles. It visited ...

Crystal did an outstanding job on preparing and organizing this voyage - the largest ship to go through the NW Passage. The expedition leaders were wonderful and made this "first" a very special experience to remember. They made a special effort to connect with the Innuit and we found the people friendly and engaging. I'm sure they learned a lot from this voyage but there's not a lot of room for ...

This was my 5th trip to Norway having previously visited by North Sea Ferry from Newcastle (with car), Queen Victoria, Grand Princess and the Ryndam. Norway is one of my favourite destinations but I have always visited in Summer, so long long days. I have always wanted to see the Northern Lights and Hurtigruten offer the chance to see the Northern Lights on their daily coastal service from Bergen ...

This cruise took us to places that we would never get to visit otherwise, a truly once a life time experience. The North Cape, midnight sun and Geiranger Fjord are all unforgetable. We ate mostly at the main dining room. Food: Steak and fish at dinner are all excellent. Breakfast and lunch in the dining room have extra items, such as shrimp cocktail, whole strawberries and made to order ...
