Awesome experience excellent waiter. Had a wonderful time and the weather was great. Excellent and fast embarcation and disembarkation. Will recommend a lot of people for this affordable holiday getaway. Not the first time cruising with MSC but must say MSC musica was the Best so far! When you leave the cruise ship you feel like you are part of a family a very big family. I wish I could meet that waiter we had he was the best and made my day every night when we went for dinner. The food was absolutely WOW something you don't see in every kind of cruise. The entertainment on the ship was something out of the ordinary the shows every night in the theater was grate like it was trained for years. This will definitely not be the last time cruising with MSC and there will be plenty coming in the future. . Congratulations MSC with the launch of your 17th ship! Read Less

I went for the Afrikaans Sokkie and it was my birthday. MSC Musica. I did state when I made a booking that it was my birthday. When I did my first cruise 17 years ago also on my birthday, I was supprised with a birthday cake! Now they charge you for it. There was always photographers taking ransom photos during your cruise, now you have to go to them and it is all unnatural studio photos at USD12 per photo!! Previously You bought a beverage package for the duration of your cruise which included all coldrinks, coffee, tea, ice-cream etc, now you can buy a package that has a maximum of 18 drinks, whether it is alcohol or not for R850 depending on the exchabge rate. And they do not tell you beforehand that it is limited to a specific amount (usd) per drink!! Everything has become so commercialized and greedy, that it does not seem to be worth the almost R5000 per day that you spent. Read Less

The embarkation was fast and effective, faster than the easy on board line. The friendly staff and customs was effective! Good job! The embarkation on the ship was confusing, taking the passport, taking photos and standing in a long que to collect the vouchers, rather leave it in the cabin to collect. The food was very good, as well as the service at the bar inside the restaurant, but very slow on the deck. The day to the island was wonder full, more than what we expected. I will recommend this type of holiday for a lot of people Why is the photos so expensive. When you don't buy it they throw all away?? Their are many people that look at the photos but don't buy. It is very nice pictures but really expensive. Think about cheaper prices as to throw everything away.. This is a negative point every time on the our cruises. Read Less

Embarkation could’ve been better as we waited in a queue for 1h30min to just park the car as they only allowed it from 9. Then we came into the terminal and had taken Easy Onboard but had to still stand in a queue for an hour. The terminal was warm and had no air circulation coming in and the fact that there was over 2000 people inside did not help. I would suggest offering water at least. Eventually after an hour the doors opened and the Easy On Board queue was taken inside first (Would recommend this every time). So we went on board and wanted to go have a bite to eat as we where all starving after being hours in queues but to our disapointment it was’nt open. We where meant to leave the port by 16:00 but for some reason we stayed in port till 17:00(We assumed the fact that a lady got asked to leave the ship had something to do with that). Second day when we reveived our little news paper it clearly said Dress Code : Informal only to find out at the dinner table that we where under dressed for the occasion (that sucked as I had bought a new dress and beautiful shoes I wanted to wear to formal night) , must have been a typing error. The show that night was Incredible (WONDERLAND) the entertainment crew was the most amazing on the ship but your bar tenders and some waiters defnitely needs work, they are not friendly at all. The two couple’s that sat next to our table at diner received amazing service from their waiter but the only person that gave us amazing service was our assistant waiter. He defnitely needs a promotion to main waiter. Now we get to the Excursions. What a total let down, firstly I had book our Excursions before we embarked and had saved 20% which was all dandy until we where told that we are unfortunately unable to go to Pomene due to the weather , we went to the excursions desk and where told that all the money was refunded and that we had to re-book our excursions for Portuguese Island but when this was booked it was on the full price instead of our previous rate of 20% off, that is not cool MSC!!!!! We chose the Santa Maria snorkeling which was meant to be a 3hr Excursion (so this is where they catch you out) the boat from the Portuguese island to Inhaca Island takes approximately 15min , then you hop on a bakkie and the drive is a 30min drive ( very bumpy and uncomfortable) when you reach the snorkeling spot you get told that you can only snorkel for 30min before you have to go back! This is not worth the money and not worth us paying extra R500. We also booked the deal where you got Champaign, canapés and fruit in your room, we got that in our room but our family next to us had to call for theirs as they paid for it but did not recive it. Our bar fridge was also locked the whole week and on the last day our room steward came to unlock it only to write that we used water out of the fridge ( How do you use something that had been locked the whole time). We where on the Sinfonia last year and everything was excellent but service on the Musica needs work! Read Less

My family and I had an amazing time, i had my girls with me and they had a blast. They was always something for them to do and they loved the music and entertainment Our cabin was clean and it was kept that way throughout the cruise, even the kids beds were made for them. My kids loved the food, i had the tastiest ice cream ever and the cocktails were the best. I am always so paranoid when traveling with the girls 7 and 11. But the crew were awesome with them friendly and the answered any question the girls had. They really enjoyed the service and the restaurant they were treated awesomely and they had the best food and desserts. The ship is well maintained and always clean. The embarkation and disembarkation went so smoothly. My luggage was well taken care of. We just got back and are already planning out next one. Read Less

1st time on MSC and was disappointed, it was a cheesy experience. Things I liked: I liked my cabin it was spacious but you could have had a kettle with Tea/Coffee available. If I didn't book a balcony cabin I would have been really stuffed up. I enjoyed the island Things I disliked: Food was terrible, no taste mass production, the pizza was the worst The plates & cups were filthy. Free coffee at Buffet very bad It's Cheaper to buy Water & Coffee cash if you a none drinker than buying vouchers, vouchers are a rip-off. Toilets onboard were pathetic Onboard entertainment pathetic, Only two shows 7 pm & 9 pm nothing else to do during the day. The pools are a disgrace, very small & deep The games room pathetic hardly any games All in all, I tried it and I disliked the experience, I won't cruise local again maybe I would consider a much larger ship with better water activities This cruise is for old people and people just looking to get drunk and party. Not suitable for families. Read Less

The only thing i wasn't convinced is dismbarkation prosigure, the daily programme showed that everyone will meet at deck 6 then we'll instructed by the crews, unfortunately there wasn't any crew member, we sit down at deck 6 while people were disembarking from deck 5.. and no announcement were made, 11. My first experience on the cruise was excellent. The staff all over was great, especially Maria in the Tucano lounge. The theatre was fantastic and entertainment staff was great! My favourite was the transfers to and from the islands. We however had a few niggly irritations. We opted for easy on board, but after exiting the immigration officer a bottleneck occurred just before we boarded the ship. This is the section where the pictures were taken. A space needs to be created for passengers to go through who isn't interested in taking pictures. The other issue was that some passengers on the ship had no manners and was unruly. This occurred daily. It is advisable to have staff behind the counters at the buffet section on the ship and on the islands where the dishing of the food can be controlled. At the buffet section on deck 13.. People were dishing stacked plates of food which left the rest of us only with pizza, burgers, chips and hot dogs. On the Portuguese island we didn't get any meat only a piece of sausage...people were walking with plates stacked with meat and thereafter we would see the untouched wasted meat. The restaurant was fantastic. I loved the fine dining, however we waited too long in between courses and this occurred the whole week. The luggage at disembarkation needs to be more controlled as it was chaos...My review is to make MSC aware on how to make the experience enjoyable for everyone. Lastly I would recommend the cruise to anyone as it was a great overall experience. Read Less

I heard about the cruise from a cousin who told me about the special that was running towards the end of 2018 and as a family we ended up going as a group of 15 cousins. The embarkation got off on a slow start because we were there on the scheduled time but after the bags were taken from us there was some delay and we never received information on why because the staff was there behind the counters but they were not serving us. From that point onwards the pace then steadied. Maybe in the future it would help to have more queue Marshall's because at one point it looked as if some people were cutting off the queues but in actual fact they knew that the 2 queues were going to the same point. The disembarkation went very smoothly. The use of elevators during peak times tested the patience of the most patient individuals. The ship is amazing and the time spent on it was not enough to explore all of its little treasures. The cabins were of acceptable size. The cabin staff was amazing, the cabins were kept neat. The dining rooms were well managed but a new strategy is needed for the management of the one on the 13th floor. The very first experience there was shocking because when we got on to the ship, the cabins were not ready and we went there for a meal. The queues were shockingly long and there were people who were done with their meal but were not prepared to vacate the tables which was really frustrating. The diversity of the menu was most welcomed as well as the continuous availability of snacking food. It can be recommended that fruits also be part of the snacking food as too much flour affects the digestive system. The entertainment was good and the welcome party was awesome, we even forgot that we were leaving dry land! We also enjoyed the stand up comedy. The available resources were sufficient to keep one entertained throughout the cruise. The staff was always available to offer information which was good. We will most definitely cherish the time we spent in the Portuguese Island and Pomene. It was really appreciated that the staff never ran out of ice! As we were getting back on to the ship from Pomene, the waves became a bit wild and that on its own was an adventure, it even made me consider doing the white water rafting! The staff was very calm and reassuring and that was really appreciated. Another awesome surprise for us were the cool face cloths as we were embarking from the ports. My family and I really had a great time and we would most certainly do it again! Read Less

We had a lovely time on the cruise. I particularly loved the attention to detail, the professionalism with which everything is run and managed - schedules, communications, general respect and courtesy by staff members! The fine dining was also a key highlight for me, as well as the cleanliness of the cabins - far better than some 4-star hotels! It was just extraordinary!! Everything is well planned, there is a variety of activities for all ages - there is never a dull moment! The entertainment is well thought out across the various areas and spaces. The food was also great - especially the dinner though the bigger restaurant sometimes had a very limited variety of food. The excursions can be improved though as there is not much to see at Pomene, for instance except the hotel ruins - maybe a village tour or something exciting will do, though the quad bikes offered a youthful alternative for the excursion. The services on the ship are excellent. All staff are very helpful. Cleanliness is the order of the day on MSC Musica. The ship offers a variety of entertainment activities. The drawback however is that most of these activities close at 23:30. The dicso is too small to cater for the number of people. The two swimming pools are small for the number of people. Some of the bigger ships offer an ironing area where guests can iron their own clothing. My partner's dress was delayed which caused us to miss the first dinner sitting and the show which was hosted that night. The cabins on the 11th floor are very spacious and well laid out. The double beds are big and comfortable. The cabin also contains a comfortable sleeper couch. Dining on the MSC Musica is a pleasant experience. The restuarants are well appointed and the food is excellent. Breakfast was however a struggle to find seating space. Most of the staff are very good at what they do and made all passengers feel at home. Some of the staff are however new and experience language difficulties. I visited both Portuguese Island and Pomene. Disembarkation and return procedures were very well organised. I did not do additional excursions. I travelled with my partner without children. I am already planning my next excursion and would recommend MSC Cruises. Read Less

Had a fabulous time on board. Embarkation was very tiring especially for the kids. Once on board we enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. The cocktails where delicious as well. Only problem was standing in the long ques to get food and the nice stuff got finished too quickly. The kids enjoyed the kids club thoroughly especially the cooking and parade. Our room was clean and neat and had all that we required. The excursions was very enjoyable and very organised. Loved that everyone could go to the shore from young to old. The disembarkation was very quick and easy. There where too few planned entertainment and activities. The little kids where disappointed that they where not allowed in the disco. We where only disappointed that our suitcases where damaged and dented during our cruise. We would love to go again provided that there is more entertainment for adults, teenagers and kids. Read Less

The embankment and dismemberment at the two beaches very good organized. The entire cruise was an experience that we will not forget. From check-in, embarkation ,on board reception, Island visit, the boat ride and to sad end and disembarkation . The Musica is an incredible ship and masterpiece of design The cabin was superb and comfortable. The dining was exquisite The entertainment was fresh with highly talented artist that were very professional The staff on board and on land were very friendly and helpful. I travelled with my 16 year-old teenage son and he was over the moon. We cannot wait to go again but a long time perhaps 4 nights and 4 days. I know the sinfonia and I was excited to experience the musica. I have been on the sinfonia 4 times. My mom went once. I surprised her with this trip and she loved it. I was delighted to get a balcony suite for the first time ever. For that I thank you so much. The value for money was like no other and well appreciated It was the most beautiful experience that mom and daughter could have. The service has declined a bit but the revamp on the island and the musica itself made up for the overall decline in service. I was concerned by the drunk teenagers on-board and I would like the MSC to take this matter seriously and have stricter control measures for teenagers drinking alcohol on board as in South Africa it is illegal for teenagers to consume alcohol. A lot of schools send their teenagers on-board, this should come with a strict no drinking rule and stricter control measures such as getting rid of all teenager from the night club after 10. Alcoholism is a serious disease. A teenager can experience alcohol for the first time on the ship and never stop again. Can the MSC also do something about the food waste. That will give you the budget for other areas and to add more south african chefs who will cook real braais on the island and Indian food as we know it. It will even allow for more free consumables such as juice. Please get rid of the huge plates that cause waste. The smaller the plate the more controlled the portions. Human beings tend to dish up according to the plate size and not the appetite, no matter how big the plate is. Overall the experience on the musica is better and the food has improved. The addition of the fruit stands in the dining rooms and the island was such a great idea. The pizza stand on the island is also great. I love the musica and I will be coming 3 times this year. I also tell a lot of people about it on all my social media platforms. Read Less

We have chosen this cruise because we were previously on 2 voyages with the MSC Opera and Sinfonia and it was unforgettable voyages. The service and food in the Restaurant was very good and more than enough. Experience with the Musica was also good but we found that the food in the Restaurants was scaled down and our room service was not standard. Our cabin was neglected with the clean up when we got up. Another problem was that our cabin cleaner was not able to speak English and struggled to communicate with him. Entertainment was very good in the theatre as well as the singers who performed. The visit to the island was very enjoyable, as were the meals and entertainment. However, there was also the problem that we could not get chairs / seats at the pool as people occupied more chairs than they needed, sometimes it was also a problem to find a table with chairs in the restaurant to go for breakfast or lunch. The cruise has gone very well and will definitely going on more cruises in the future. We are planning to go on our 4th cruise next year. Read Less

Having cruised on MSC for over 10 years and being a Gold Club member, this cruise was way below the standard I have come to expect. I had hoped that I would have experienced the same hospitality that I experienced since my first experience on the Melody and not the poor hospitality that we received on the Musica. 1) This was the 2nd year in a row that we had booked a trip to Pomene, only to be told after boarding that we will not be visiting the Island due to poor weather conditions. I do understand that no one has control over the weather, but it really is disappointing that this happened twice. We paid for a trip to Pomene but was not offered any discounts on future bookings or a reduction in the price that we had paid both times. 2) This was the 1st time that we had dinner at the 2nd seating. We had requested 1st seating but was told that it was full. Surely senior citizens should be given priority for 1st seating, just like children are. We were seated at 8:30pm and placed our order by 8:45pm. We were only served dinner at 9:30pm. This took unusually long, something we never experienced previously. Based on this poor service, we did not return to the restaurant for dinner and opted for the buffet for the remainder of the evenings. 3) The public toilets (deck 13) were not cleaned regularly and there was no toilet paper at times. 4) At the hot beverage station, there was very poor service. There was no boiling water available, but only hot water, which is unsuitable to make tea. There was always a shortage of teabags. This was only filled when requested. Hot milk was not always available. Read Less

The food was excellent but our waiter was very slow. We ended up leaving almost last every evening. The shows in the theater was very good and we enjoyed all the shows. The entertainment in the bars also met our expectations. Service overall was excellent and nothing was to much for the crew. They did their best to accommodate all our requests. I'ts a pity that we never got to Pomene due to poor weather. Many guests complained that in up to 7 cruises to Pomene, they are yet to reach the destination. 7 out of 7 times the weather did not play along. - Maybe you should consider scrapping Pomene, People pay for the trip and never get there - Must be a huge saving for MSC. This was my 8th cruise and defenitley the worst cruise! 1. Very poor Safety drill, was done in 2 minutes. Crew only showed how to fasten lifejackets. 2. When we asked for help from cabin steward at 16H00 after bording he said that he cant help till after 6 as he is bussy with lugage. 3. We tried to phone help desk but the phone was not working. I eventualy found out the 9 button on phone had to be pressed verry hard and to hold it in for a few seconds til it dail. We reported it but as per technision this was acceptable an didnt do anything to fix the problem. 4. When we went to eat the problems realy started. I had to firstly at every meal clean old food from my wet plate! And still after complaining about it nothing was done! 5. At every meal we had to ask for butter and the response was that there was not butter as there was delivery issues! They eventualy bring butter to our table after our food was cold or finnished. 6. This was the dirtiest cruise ship of all your MSC ships that I cruised on. Lounge Chairs with very old stains and arm rests with old brown fatty marks only clean where the previos passangers hands pressed to stand up. 7. Entertainment at shows after evening meals was repettitve, the same 4 entertainers with the same preformence only different theme... 8. No smoking areas on deck was a big dissipointment. We had to ask several people to not smoke and had to show them the no smoking signs. This caused very tense moments. Please make it clear to all passangers and ask crew to when they walk pass pasanges that is smoking in no smoke areas to address them. So that we dont have to! 9. Our nice view from our balcony was ruined as the lifeboat below my cabin was used as an ashtray. And the stompies was roling around on the roof of the lifeboat. Must be up to a 100 stompies seems like an astray was emptied from a balcony. We also reported this several times on our 5 day stay. Nothing was done! Very dissipointed in MSC as I realy looked forward to cruise with you but this standard of cruise will ensure that I never recomend MSC as a fantastic holiday cruise to all my family and friends. And the photos of a very dirty ship can not be placed on my sosial media as I am to ashamed to show that I cruised on a very dirty MSC Musica! Read Less

Onboard activities on the pool deck were fun to join in or just to watch. The disembarkation to the Island and on return home was a breeze. Cabin was suitable for our family of 3. The Buffet restaurants had something for everyone all day. All staff encountered along the 4 days were pleasant and friendly. The bar and seating set up on the Island was a huge improvement from our last cruise, the food was great. The theatre shows were entertaining and enjoyed by all. My son absolutely loved the Pool Deck Ice-Cream. The Restaurants and Bars were kept clean at all times, even with the amount of people coming and going all day. We have not been on one before and wanted to do something the whole family would enjoy. Our concerns were naturally being sea sick, but the ship is so stable you hardly notice the swaying, and none of us had issues. The Embarkation took a lot longer than expected and by the time we boarded it was after 1pm and with child, we were irritable and hungry. The buffet hall was completely full and we resorted to eating outside the back end of the buffet hall. This however we came to realise was going to be an ongoing problem during the cruise... we never got to eat inside the dining hall as it was always full. So most meals were had around the pool area. The queues inside the buffet was another frustration.... people are total gluttons and this made our journey less enjoyable. At one stage I asked a staff member for if they had more walnuts as they has run out at both the fruit and yoghurt stations and all I got was "no", we don't have anymore.... I found this disturbing as we were day 3 into our 5 day cruise. So breakfast and lunches, whether onboard or on Pomene were negatives for us. Portuguese Island was a lovely day and the beach was nice and clean and the MSC provided shade was welcomed. Pomene however was the complete opposite. by the time we go there, just before 11, there were no shaded seats left. The queues for food and drink were shocking again so we decided to go back to the ship and spend our day there. At the Belle Epoque restaurant, we were always well serviced by Iyvin and Juzah. And we celebrated our son's birthday on the 12th and the restaurant staff and entertainment staff all made his day a special one. The Indian gentleman (I never got his name) who did our housekeeping was also wonderful and also polite and helpful. In general, we found the staff who worked the food and beverage to not be as happy and pleasant.. possibly because of the constant numbers and orders. The other negatives were the small pools, I was expecting more or larger given the volume of people on the ship and the gym was also limited in equipment. Maybe look into getting things like gliders, skipping ropes, kettle bells etc, that can be used for functional training. Otherwise the programmes were informative and overall it was an enjoyable experience. Read Less

I chose this cruise as I always wanted to do so but was never able to because of work and family commitments, mu only regret is that I did not do the cruise sooner :(. We embarked on the 11 February 2019, remember to get to the embarkation port a earlier to avoid standing in long queues, the crew assisting with the embarkation was very efficient and directed us in a well manner, the entertainment also kept the queue occupied...it was amazing to see the elderly and disabled being assisted immediately. I did not book the trip so I was not aware of the "Easy On Board" system which allows quick embarkation for a fee, next time I will make use of this service. MSC makes this cruise exciting beginning to end with the photographs which can be purchased on board. I was amazed at the luxury of the ship as we entered, the welcome by the employees and the continuous reminders of what is required and the friendly smiles deserves a "thumbs up" Collection of vouchers (Drinks, water, etc...) which can be purchased with your booking was easy , also note that vouchers can be purchased on board as well. It is advisable to purchase the vouchers as part of the cruise package... I was a bit disappointed with the cabin being small but as I previously stated I did not book the cruise and will definitely book a cabin with a balcony on my next cruise.. The housekeeping service is excellent as the cabins were cleaned out twice daily. The Buffet is excellent with a huge variety to choose from and also includes a Halaal food station. The dinner at the restaurants was also good with also an option of a Curry menu for the spice lovers. The service from the waiters is exceptional The one thing that I most enjoyed was the entertainment and activities especially the world class daily shows at the theatre. The show at the theatre must not be missed by anyone... The Port and shore excursions was awesome, I would recommend that you book your seating spaces etc...with your cruise package, once again I was not aware....but will definitely do so next time. Also get your tickets to the islands early instead of waiting after breakfast to really enjoy the islands. Pomene was extremely hot, the one negative was the water package at Pomene we received 1x 500ml water instead of the 1.5 lt water which is purchased on board, MSC should have taken a decision to sell 2 x 500ml of water if they did not have 1.5lt.... Getting back to the ship was a nightmare due to standing in queues in the heat and passengers cutting the lines claiming their family were already in line and the crew did had poor control over the passengers and whom were next in line...there should definitely be a drinks station at this area for passengers to purchase water etc.. whilst in the queue. I love reading and the ship has a library but with limited selection of English books...this could be improved. Overall experience was 10/10...I loved every minute of the cruise and proud to say I have been bitten by the "Cruise Bug" and am already planning my next trip.. Well Done MSC Musica for a beautiful experience..... P.S....the ship cruise is for partying and having fun...... Read Less
