This was our 5th RC cruise and the first sailing from Southampton (and last). From the car park to being on board was around 20 minutes which was quite impressive. This was the ships second cruise following a refit and compared to reviews on its first cruise after refurbishment things seemed to have improved. Dining room & windjammer food quality was up to the usual standards (we are not fussy eaters but would complain if things were amiss). The pub on the Royal Prom was a big let down. On other ships this has been one of our regular calling points. The table service was non existent and we had to keep going to the bar to order. None of the staff therefore got to know your name and have little chats with you. The bar is at the front of the pub not at the back like other RC ships giving the impression of it being small. Also there was no folk singer on a stool singing away. Although not big drinkers we had the basic( free on booking) drinks package. Staff were friendly and helpful especially when our bathroom flooded. We had a mini drama on this sailing with a man overboard alert ( this proved to be a false alarm) the ship was stopped and announcements made along with lifeboat deployments. It is about time we had free wifi. especially as many of the bars and shopping malls in ports of call have it! The photo system has changed. You no longer have to spend ages looking through racks of pictures. They are all on monitors for you to select in the photo area. Due to the poor weather sailing from Southampton we had to stay indoors. This is were RC need to improve. Just walking from bar to café to shops is not good enough. A back up plan for poor weather is needed. Entertainment was average to good. The last night show was very poor especially the juggler who needs to brush up on his presenting skills. The cruise director too was a little reserve. Other cruise directors have been a bit more zany. Considering the ship had a refit, a number of obvious things were puzzling like picture frames in the aisles to the staterooms having worn frames were people had rubbed against them over the years and patches on the running track along with a black patch on the large pool side tv were the pixels weren't working.
