Far below our expectations

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

Our primary reason for taking this cruise was to see the ship. At 137,000 tons, this is the largest ship we have ever sailed on and it has some features we have never seen before. We have visited the ports many times so they were not a factor. We also feel that the entertainment on Royal Caribbean is usually superior to other cruise lines and hoped to see some good shows. If you ever ...

Family Unfriendly and Dining Service Below Expectations

My daughter, 2 grandsons (20 months and 5 years), and I took a 4 night Royal Caribbean cruise from Sept 17-21 with stops in Nanaimo and Victoria. We stayed in 2 inside cabins, which were next door to each other. I have seen hundreds of commercials where RCI promotes its cruise line as family friendly but RCI did not meet our expectations for the following reasons: a) We did not expect ...

Royal Caribbean has gone CHEAP

This cruise was offered by a travel agent (he had 1100 customers on board) for a great price! It was a quick getaway that we could drive to the port. I was amazed at how CHEAP RCCL has become. In the cabin no chocolates on pillows, no pen and tablet on the desk, small scratchy sandpaper towels, no lotion in the bathroom (just shampoo in a dispenser in the shower), on demand movies offered for ...

We choose RC because it was a great price. Embarkation went smooth. The cabins that look over the board walk are cool except there was a door between cabins and you could hear everything they where doing and talking about. Food in the Windjammer was not good. I think I had one good meal all week. Food in the main dinning was really good. They charge for room service now. $8 per order. Other ...

Royal Caribbean not what it used to be.

What has happen to RC? I don't know if its because tips are included now, so staff does not try as hard... but service is far far below what it used to be for RC. I cancel auto tips and pay as I see fit and so happy I did that for this cruise. Workers in the windjammer were dropping silverware on the floor and putting out in service. Three people in our party had an experience with hair in our ...

We had decided to do the seven-night Pacific coastal cruise since it visited ports that we have never on vacation. We came up and stayed in Seattle for two nights prior to the cruise and I would recommend this for anyone taking cruise out of Seattle as it allows you for a little bit more relaxing time before boarding the ship. On board the ship I had decided to upgrade the refreshment package ...

Chose the cruise for the location. It was a short flight from Phoenix and my friend had never cruised before and we liked the ports of call. Enjoyed all the ports of call and the availability of assistance at each port of call. I choose to do my own exploring and not to use ship shore excursions and there was plenty of information and assistance at each port of call. Service on the ship ...

Disappointing

Probably one of our least favorite cruises. A real disappointment. Cabin attendant had no eye for detail. For example, missing or the wrong daily planners. Came back to our cabin to find another guest standing in our foyer area with the floor supervisor standing there too. It seems that the guest wanted to see an Owner's Suite. Creepy having them show our cabin while we were staying in it. ...

Repositing Cruise out of Seattle

We chose this cruise because it sailed out of port close to home and allowed for a quick mini vacation. This was a repositing cruise for Royal Caribbean sailing out of Seatle, WA for 4 nights. The ship itself was very nice. However, the service was very poor. There was often a wait to get into the main dining room. And the Windjammer Café where it is buffet style dining was closed ...
