All-in-all good cruise

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

I will say the ship is lovely and in great shape. The decor is more understated then Carnival which is nice. The ship is very clean and well maintained. We arrived at Cape Liberty at 11:00am, we were held in the big, cold terminal for about 45 minutes.Once we got the shuttle to the ship it was smooth sailing (or quick boarding). The terminal was a very negative experience. Cold, crowded and no ...

To celebrate my husband's 62nd birthday, I booked a cruise on the Explorer of the Seas. We had taken a previous cruise on the Explorer and were 99% satisfied with that trip, but I became a little worried after reading numerous negative reviews about the appearance of the ship, the horrible and boring food selections, the apathy of the staff, etc. Well, I can put all that negativity to rest! My ...

This was our first time embarking out of Bayonne. It was a breeze! Chilly due to it being February, but no issues. We booked parking through Premium Parking, slightly cheaper than at pier. They picked us up and took us back to car as well. Check in was easy. We had arrived about 10:30, did not board the ship till about 12:30-1pm so we had to wait in a waiting area. The ship seems to need some ...

Explorer of the Seas -- Feb. 1 to 10, 2013 Flew into EWR day before cruise. Stayed at Newark Airport Marriott. Very nice hotel with a great restaurant. Took car service to the Bayonne the next day. Embarkation: Arrived at port around 10:45 and were onboard by 11:30. No problems boarding whatsoever. Went directly to dining room to check out our table (431- nice round table for 8). Then ...

My husband, six year old son and I just returned from a 9 night cruise on board the Explorer of the Seas. Having cruised on Carnival, Norwegian and Disney we thought we knew the routine. We were wrong! I have also worked on cruise ships. I worked as a production singer for 5 years for Celebrity Cruises and Costa Cruises (yes Captain Schettino was my safety officer on board the Costa ...

We arrived at perhaps the worst embarkation port on the east coast. This area has not changed since WWII, utilizing 1930 type Navy Buildings that have not been refurbished since the 1940-1950. We were checked in promptly at 1015AM and proceeded to wait in the dingy building until 1200PM. It then took another 20 minutes to board a bus which drove us less than 800-1000 ft to the ship. Boy,I was glad ...

This was the first time I sailed out of someplace other than Fla. I figured I would give it a shot. I have always sailed with RCI and I feel that the past cruises are a fair comparison. Leaving out of Cape Liberty was a painless and quick process. We parked right at the dock (19.00 Per day) No issues. Since we were accustomed to sailing out of Fla... The cold days were a change of pace for ...

I signed up for the Meet & Mingle. Received an email saying info will be sent to my cabin. I never received any info on it. My biggest disappointment was a lack of activities to do during the day, especially when it's too cold to go outside. They need better activities to do during the day. It's a good thing they have the Promenade to kill time. Loved the promenade & the parades etc on it. ...

just returned from 10-night Caribbean cruise out of Bayonne. We picked this cruise only because of the departure port-did not want to fly home on the 23rd from Florida with all the holiday travelers. We also thought going on the 13th of December we would avoid all the children that travel Christmas week, but we were wrong. Parents had taken their kids out of school, since there were almost 400 ...

Background- We have sailed with Royal Caribbean since the late 1980's, however not recently though, so we were not aware of how much the line has changed. Embarkation- Cape Liberty does not operate as efficiently as say Miami or Fort Lauderdale or the many other better known cruise ports. Bayonne is known as a container shipping facility for which they are ...
