If you are going to do Alaska and don't want to constantly be hanging around people who are sightseeing from the railings, GET A BALCONY ROOM!! If you have a little extra to spend, get an Owner's Suite (bigger room) or a Grand Suite (bigger balcony). Our Owner's Suite was PERFECT! with the large balcony and HUGE picture window, we could lay in bed as we cruised past mountains and waterfalls and then go out to our balcony with coffee or wine all while in our pajamas and just relax. Great new upholstery and overall a super cabin.
The shape of the lounge/bedroom means the balcony is surprisingly small. We have had bigger balconies on less expensive categories. There is only a small table and 2 chairs!
The bathroom is luxurious in an 1980's kinda way, although it's very clean and functional.

Owner's Suite 1292A great room. Plenty of closet space and storage for suitcases. The bathroom is large with a shower, toilet, bidet, double sink and jacuzzi tub. The couches and the bed were very comfortable. The only 2 criticisms we have are:1. the balcony, while adequate, should have been larger for this type of cabin;2. their should have been two tv's - one for the bedroom area and one for the living room. Known as the Curacao Suite. It was a nice cabin on the forward part of the middle hump. Balcony is a little small because space is taken up with extra space in the room. Bathroom was huge. We both tried the jetted tub! Easy access to the room right off the stairway and elevator. Huge couch with chaise lounge, TV that swiveled between the bedroom and living room. 1298 OS - Lots of space! Great storage including large double closet, tons of kitchen area cabinets, dresser with lots of drawer space, etc. Balcony is fairly small but allows for large window near bed. Perk is a small dining table with two chairs - great for dining in room. Large TV. Never noticed outside noises. Fairly close to elevators. Large hallway outside cabin. Barbados Suite, Cabin 1292. Nice roomy cabin, midship. Did not hear neighbors on either side. there was a maintenance room across from us but no noises. Cabin #1314 is spacious with lots of closet space but not so much drawer space. It has hardly any electric outlets for recharging ipods, cameras etc. The bathroom is large BUT it stank badly because of the drains. The view from the balcony is beautiful. The cabin was internal without a view to the Royal Promenade. It was on the larger side of the standard cabin expectation. The sound proofing was very good as was the toilet/shower room. No complaints. Read entire member review >>
Our OS 1592 was very spacious. The closet area was too close to the bed and very difficult to get into ...........also needed shelves. The closet in the Grand Suite we had two years ago was much more accommodating.

4/26/09 Owner Suite 1608 has extensive peeling paint on balcony, carpeting where it meets marble flooring in front of door was coming up and frayed, chipped furniture, TV remote held together by tape, poor A/C in cabin and throughout ship on this cruise.
