Used to think RCL was top notch

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

Just returned from an 8 day cruise to the ABC Islands onboard Explorer of the Seas. We are avid cruisers and cruised on this ship in 2004 and Navigator in 2005. More recently we discovered NCL and have been cruising with them the past five or six years. Don't think we will be going back to RCL any time soon. The good: Our room was FANTASTIC we were in a Spacious Panoramic Room on the ...

Changed Port w/o rhyme or reason. Bumped Bonaire to Grand Cayman.

I chose RC for the destination ports. I like Scuba Diving and wanted to go to Bonaire to dive. RC changed the port without any reason. I lost the deposit on my diving excursion I made on my own since RC diving excursion were booked. The AC in the room was hot. Reported it however tech did not fix it. I purchase the drink package however the quality of the drinks were substandard and very little ...

This was DH and I first cruise post-restart and we were ecstatic to be back onboard a ship. The Explorer was in great condition considering her age. We did the Royal Up program and went from an inside cabin on deck 8 to Panoramic Ocean View on deck 12. We absolutely loved our cabin. We overlooked the peek-a-boo bridge and had floor to ceiling windows. Entertainment was a bit lacking, but we had ...

Wonderful Cruise

Beautiful boat. Great dinners every night. Stayed in Room 3624. Terrific ocean view room right outside 3rd floor dining room - so convenient. Only problem was it was an “adjoining” room so there was a door where the couch should have been, leaving room only for a chair. Also, we had to put a towel under the door. You could hear talking, sneezing, coughing, hair dryer, etc. - it didn’t really help ...

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

This was my first cruise at age 75 and have no others to compare it to. My partner is 82 and has been on many cruises so he had those to compare this cruise to. I understand The Explorer of the Seas will be going in to be refurbished in March of 2020. I thought the ship was lovely as it was, but not without its quirks. My biggest disappointments were the entertainment, elevators, food. Day of ...

Lacks that luxury feel

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

This ship is disappointing. The room 2640 is on top of the engine room and is very noisy. The decor is tired and dated. The staff and food are excellent but it feels budget in comparison with celebrity and P & O. For example, there are no nice complimentary toiletries - just some body wash in a locked container in the shower. There are no little towel animals or chocolates on the pillow, nor is ...

Hit & Miss

Cabins need a refurb. Public areas ok. Entertainment was hit and miss. Ventriloquist was excellent a really funny show. Take that experience were good. Not sure about the headliners, didn't enjoy any of their shows. Drinks prices high. Charged for shuttle buses we waited for over an hour for one and in the end paid for a taxi back to the ship, other cruise lines provide these free of charge. ...

We travelled with our 6 month old baby girl and I have to say apart from our cabin steward the staff were extremely accommodating, especially the head waiter in the dining room I can’t remember his name he was from Bali I think his name was Suyanto or something similar. I’m gluten free so he also looked after me well and offered to make me something different if I didn’t fancy anything on the ...

Another great cruise... now with baby

We are loyal to Royal Caribbean, we have always enjoyed cruises with them. Now we have a baby in tow, it made all the more sense to go with a holiday that we know what to expect and really enjoy. Useful baby-related tips: - we ate in the main dining room every night. Our baby - then aged 10 months - ate small pieces of food from our plates and we got extra portions of vegetables (the wait ...

We have just returned from a 13 day cruise from Southampton to Spain, Lisbon, France. Travelled in 2 cabins, myself and my husband in one and our 2 teenage boys in the other. The embarkation and disembarkation was a dream. We parked at the port, left the cases by the car and they were delivered to our cabin a couple of hours later. We drove from Manchester and were sat in the bar at 12.30pm ...
